Ultra-Unit Architectural Studio

We’ve been working with Cameron for a while. He’s been incredibly patient and helpful, taking us through the process, applying for permits, introducing us to other specialists, etc. He’s always been very honest, even when the advice might not be in his best interest. However, he definitely has the client’s interests at heart and wants to deliver a top job. It’s been a pleasure working with him.

I recently used Ultra-​Unit Architectural Studio to assist me with the conversion of an old industrial building into creative office space.
The team at Ultra-​Unit has been fantastic. They are extremely creative, innovative, and an absolute pleasure to work with. They’ve been able to recommend cost effective solutions without sacrificing aesthetics.
They know their way around city hall and seemed to have a very good rapport with them. They were able to get all of the necessary approvals in a timely fashion.
They continue to offer guidance and support whenever I need it. I made the right choice when I chose Ultra-​Unit.

Very pleased with our experience with Ultra-​Unit and Berenice. Berenice was very professional, polite, and a pleasure to work with. She not only provided us with excellent drawings for our home renovation, but she had great suggestions on how we could improve our space. We are now working on our 3^rd project and each one we have used Ultra-​Unit/​Berenice. We have had no problems and if our contractor had any questions, they were able to get them answered in a quick and timely manner. I highly recommend them for any project whether residential or commercial.

My project with Cameron and team was a kitchen remodel. Our home is a 1928 Tudor in the historical district of Wrigley. We needed to take the kitchen down to the studs while maintaining the original character of our home. His team was very flexible in my design requirements and were able to salvage materials and reuse them in the kitchen build.
He contractor Fernando was amazing and even came out on a Saturday to replace our hot water heater that died. James the finish carpenter was awesome and came up with some great design additions that I had not thought of.
When I talk to other people about having work done in their house everyone has a nightmare story. I was happy with the time frame and the overall result. We landed on budget (would have been under if I didn’t add on a deck in the back).

Why we highly recommend Cameron Crockett and his team at Ultra-​Unit Architectural Studio;
First, building a Restaurant from scratch touches every possible department of a City and County possible. Plan checking for Zoning, Electrical, Plumbing, Building, on site Inspectors, Police, Fire, SCE, Gas Company, Department of Alcohol, Health regulations and laws that «can and do» differ. That alone made his team’s job difficult and time consuming.
Proof is in the pudding for us. (Restaurant lingo.) Drive by The Red Leprechaun at 4000 East Anaheim and you will see the first successful part of his design and outcome for a Irish Pub and Restaurant that originally was a gutted Blockbuster. Cameron’s ideas and suggestion in the City meetings was key to streamline and move his project to the opening goal dates. We started in February 2012 and opened July 2012 with every obstacle possible!
I have respect and trust for Cameron Crockett and this is a very important statement in a recommendation. He was always forthright and reliable during every aspect of this project
The building before the Restaurant was 2670 square feet of a gutted space. We built a Full Kitchen, Restaurant/​Bar Front, Two ADA bathrooms and placement of a 1901 Brunswick Bar. Cameron designed a clever ADA community style table to help avoid the City of Long Beach (also Federal) requirement to cut the bar to add ADA seating. The table is thoughtful to assure anyone with a disability would feel comfortable and not spotlighted in the same environment as the bar.
The Project Architect, Berenice Morales was assigned to us from creation to our opening Certificate of Occupancy. She was key to making drawing change requirement from the City weekly. Although we had a relationship with the City, there was a of «contradiction» from the Department of Zoning, to Electrical, Health, Plumbing, etc.
We hired a separate contractor for this project and Cameron and Berenice’s advise was invaluable with the multiple issues that came from this decision. They were key to giving and assisting by offering «true project management».
We have additional phases to add to our business, a patio, open windows or shutter are a few to mention and Cameron has already been active in creative ideas when we are ready.
We will also go back and add a review for Castillo Engineering who also worked with Ultra when the City required a Structural Engineer when we added windows on Termino Ave.

Cameron has been an asset to my business, especially during the preliminary phases that included zoning and planning. Having been pushed around City zoning and planning offices for months, Cameron stepped in and expedited our project to near completion: He produced and submitted all blueprint plans, spoke on behalf of my business to the City Council in pursuit of a CUP, represented my business during zoning meetings, helped us layout our equipment so it meets fire regulations, etc. etc. His experience with City zoning and planning allowed us to move our project forward and eventually open for business. Quite frankly, I dont know what I would have done without him.
Even better, Cameron understood that opening a small business is costly and gave me a VERY reasonable price, a testament to his honest and hard-​working persona. In short, he’s been a tremendous resource for the initial start-​up of my business. Highly recommend his services.
