Very disappointing, ordered hide and seek and firecracker. We were planning on ordering more, but after the utter disappointment of the two dishes we did receive, it was time to move on. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience. The waiter didn’t really even know the menu, we asked how the baby octopus was prepared, he had no idea. I luv sushi, hint try somewhere else.

We love this hidden gem. Been visiting this sushi spot since college and now my husband and I come here for date night at least twice a month. While the parking lot is small and shared with the hotel it sits next too, street parking is available and worth the extra effort. My favorite roll is the Monkey Roll. Tempura with bananas and eel sauce. Sounds strange, but my entire pregnancy I felt like I was still eating sushi when i ate it. Another favorite is their mummy shrimp. Noodle wrapped around a shrimp and its tempuraed. Crunchy and light! If you are ever in the area and craving sushi, stop by and try it out. Happy hour is a big hit, especially among the college crowd during school season.

Atmosphere: There is a sushi bar in the middle with tables on the outskirts of the restaurant. This place is relatively small so be wary about coming in during peak dinner hours! Service: Everybody here was so kind! Most employees looked like they were college students or recent graduates and service was awesome. Waters were refilled and we were checked up on frequently. Food: Lunch special $ 9 for 2 basic rolls with soup and salad? Happy hour 2 delicious rolls for $ 13? It’s such a shame i live so far away from this place or else I’d come here often. The sashimi was fresh and the rolls were made to order. They give plenty of wasabi and ginger at the start too. The complimentary miso soup helped with my carelessness with wasabi and the salad w/dressing kept the meal feeling light and healthy haha I love this place and hope to come back soon

Hands down my families favorite sushi place. I have been coming here since I was in College, and keep coming back. When a buddy of mine turned me on to this place some 12 or so years ago, I’ll admit I was a little skeptical seeing as how it shares a parking lot with a motel and the overall appearance doesn’t scream«eat raw fish here». I didn’t let that stop me and you shouldn’t let it stop you. Great prices, fresh fish, creative rolls, great happy hour options(with a happy hour that almost goes on all day) and exceptional sushi chefs and waitstaff. You also have the option to order in «sets», where they have a handful of sushi roll or sashimi options grouped together with a soup and a salad — and I’ve found these sets to be a ton of great food for a really affordable price. I make the drive to LB and pass tons of Sushi places and come here almost every time I want sushi. Not only all of that, they go above and beyond when I bring my son in who is too young to eat sushi. They make him a special plate with avocado maki rolls and little sliced up avocado pieces in the shape of a happy face!

Had lunch with a friend here. The service is great, they are attentive, fast and very courteous. As for the food, I ordered unagi, it was DELICIOUS. The unagi to rice proportions was spot on. I also ordered the sexy roll which was good but did not wow me, I wish it were spicier as that’s what I was hoping for. Otherwise, this place is great and will probably come back again. It’s a bit hidden on PCH so be sure not to miss it!

I know this place isn’t a high end sushi place. But I am only paying $ 10.00 for lunch. And the sushi is fine, you can’t get high end sushi for a low end cost. But I got the lunch time combo. It’s very good and I am glad this place is walking distance from Pep boys !!! I am getting my brakes repaired. Plus I am starving!!! The Starbucks yogurt snack was good. But it only made me more hungry The Miso soup came with the combo it’s hot and taste good. It doesn’t have all the ingredients that I love. But I knew that would be the case and I am fine with it. The salad is again missing my favorite ingredients. But, I can’t ding them for making the food affordable. The sushi is low end cuts but you know the story. It’s a good lunch! The vanilla ice cream was tasty too! The service is really good friendly and my food was served in less than 5 minutes!

Came here last night for dinner. Parking is at a motel which is very interesting. Restaurant was packed. Put our names down for a table. Waited no more than 10 minutes. We were happy to find out that we were there in time for happy hour. It’s buy one roll and get the second one for 1 dollar. We got the sexy girl role which was good has a piece of Mango and jalapeños in every bite. Next came our sunrise on Sunset Roll which was very good. I was so impressed it was tasty and had a nice kick to it. Surprisingly between my friend and I we were pretty full after those two rolls we got very full. I still waited to try something else so we got an order of shrimp boat, unagi and albacore. Each one was very good and the bill came out to $ 33. Delicious and inexpensive. Can’t ask for more :)

I go to CSULB just down the street, so Sushi Studio is conveniently located near the school. Since I was in the mood for a fresh roll I thought I should give this place a shot. It was around 3 pm and thus I knew some sort of happy hour specials would be in effect. So I arrive, and this place is nothing like a studio. I know it’s only a name, but semantics come into play when one’s thinking about food. Like I said, it looked nothing like a studio. I was thinking I would be having a nice lunch at some small chic sushi restaurant, but this was like a little shed attached to a motel on PCH. Let me stop there though, before I just rant. I’ll focus on the food. As predicted, there was a happy hour special going on at the time of my arrival. I went with the $ 8 lunch special which I believe comes with a small salad, soup, and one or two rolls(not certain if it is one or two). Don’t remember the exact special, but I think I ordered a Lynn Special Roll and an Autumn Roll. I received my miso soup and that was tasty, then the salad and that was drenched in dressing, and lastly the two rolls. Like I said, the soup was passable, salad not so much, but the rolls were not up to par with my standards — and I don’t even have standards cuz I’m clueless when it comes to sushi or rolls. The quality of the fish wasn’t that great. Ask me how I know, well the albacore in one of the rolls seemed gelatinous and overly soft. The texture of the shrimp tempura in the other roll was too chewy, and the batter seemed soggy. Then bits of the rice were hard, don’t know if that was because it was either undercooked or overcooked. I’ll admit, I clearly do not know much when it comes to sushi, but I know well enough to recognize when I’m having mediocre rolls. There have been other places I’ve tried that are also fairly inexpensive, and the experience was quite the contrary. Just because one’s not paying top dollar for a meal shouldn’t mean they have skip on freshness, then again, sometimes you get what you pay for. So I’ll stick to my guns on this one. The only reason I went with two stars was because the servers were attentive, and the food was brought out quickly.

I like this place a lot. Good food :) Only down side is that there are so many items in the menu all of them sounds good so it takes a little longer to order because I have to read all of them lol but other than that good food.

Oh man, where to begin. You know when you think to yourself, «I should try new sushi place.» Well, once you eat here, you never think that again. They have fantastic Garlic Edemame. And their special«Studio» rolls are all so so good. Such a wonderful place. It really is

We used to go here a lot and today we find out that HH on sushi is no longer happening. That’s really a bummer! It’s like they do well and yet they raise the prices. Why?! And today, service was just average. One of the servers was getting all snappy. We did ask why sushi is no longer in the menu and yet one of the servers answered us saying they change it every 6 months. Well, I guess we’ll see in 6 months if the menu changes again and prices have gone up. Parking could be a pain in the ass when it’s really busy. Good thing we got there early enough then people started coming in for early dinner. I guess we still like this place but now it’s just like any other sushi places in Long Beach.

I love the happy hour offerings here and my favorite so far is the sushi on second and sexy girl. Can’t go wrong with the salmon sushi. It’s $ 1.50 each during happy hour(4−7pm I think) been going almost every Friday for a month. Great deal on the sake too. Oh they have ramen now for those of you who wants something warm in this cold weather. Try the squid legs on a stick too it’s better than calamari enjoy!

This is the best not-so-well-kept secret in Long Beach. The humble location notwithstanding(in the parking lot of Don’s Motel– an establishment well-known as a spot for a quickie, be it physical or drug-related)– Sushi Studio is definitely off the beaten track but is ALWAYS packed, which is a great sign. The prices are unbelievably reasonable and the quality is superb. I always order not-your-typical American sushi fare and you can always judge a good sushi place if you order the saba(mackerel) and the ikura(salmon roe) — very acquired tastes but dead-giveaways to the talent of the chef when prepared right. The ones I had were superb. If Happy Hour is your thing, then you’ll love the prices from 3−7pm. I absolutely love this place, location, vibe, and most of all quality and prices of food. Hands down the best sushi bar in Long Beach. Nothing comes even remotely close in terms of price/quality. Been here many times before, will be back many more.

Sushi Studio is one of many Americanized sushi joints in Long Beach — you know, the kind that has rolls with crazy sounding names and everything is a smothered in mayo. It’s the kind of place I like to eat from time to time with no consideration to the quality of fish because that’s not my expectation. I snuck in right at happy hour: -$ 1.50 nigiri(albacore, salmon, sea bass, tuna, yellowtail) This is a steal because a regular order will run you $ 4.95 for 2 pieces. The salmon was good… the cut was oversized and very reminiscent of the quality you would find at a AYCE joint. Good, but slightly uncomfortable bit since it was oversized. –seaweed salad($ 3): standard. –deep fried soft shell crab($ 6): probably my favorite thing we ordered during dinner. It was nice, crispy, and the crab meat broke into soft, sweet lumps. The roe was in tact so kudos to that. I would ordered this again. There are a variety of other rolls marked down($ 6) and sashimi specials($ 9). We also ordered the following 2 rolls: –fantastic roll($ 9.95): lightly, deep fried spicy tuna with white fish and avocado. This was fantastic. Just what I wanted — something lightly battered and fried with questionable, but not scary spicy tuna filling. –B.S.C.($ 13.95): California rolled covered with baked scallops. This, my friend, was NOT the B.S.C. i was wishing and hoping for. The scallops were NOT baked. Just 3 teeny tiny scallops just chilling on top of each sushi piece. I was misled to think that since this was a B.S.C.(baked scallop California) roll that the scallops should have been baked in a bed of hot mayo. Nope. I’ve had better bastardized American rolls, but their happy hour is money especially if you’re a poor college student. Parking here is limited because they share the same lot as Don’s Motel.

It really is unfair to other sushi spots, because any time I sit down to eat, all I’m really hoping is that the rolls will be anywhere near as divine as those found at Sushi Studio in Long Beach, CA. I kinda set myself up for a lifetime of disappointment. You see, this was the first place I ever tried sushi. I thought every place I tried after would put as much thought into their menu, would deliver as fresh a product, would leave me feeling as full and satisfied as SS. You’d think some places could come close, but it rarely happens. Sure, some places do okay, some are even great. But few ever seem to compare. I’m sure I’m making a bigger deal out of this place than it truly is. I mean it’s just a tiny little sushi place in a motel parking lot on pch. Ran by humans, like anyone else. But I really do think this place is the truth! Maybe it will never be as good as your first time. I don’t know. All I can say is every time I come in here I’m greeted by friendly people who are happy to bring me trays of delicious sushi and spicy sauces to dip it in, which is more than I could ever ask for. Try the sexy girl roll!

We came here yesterday because he was feeling sushi, and I don’t mind eating sushi. :) We came here for a late lunch, because before that we were at Target, cause you know a girl’s gotta get her target fix on! It was actually really close to the target, or I think it was, because I don’t really pay attention to time as we are driving. Lol. Anyway, I don’t know why but my rolls looked super boring compared to his! Maybe that just means that I’m basic? Haha, anyway, I really loved the fried oysters, they were exceptional, and my rolls weren’t bad either! And for $ 9 for lunch for the the two of us, that totally filled me up! #nomnom!
