I had the worst experience at another bridal shop earlier in the day and went to regroup with my girls. My mom Googled Plus size bridal salons and found Strut. She called to see if we needed an appointment or could just walk-​in, and they said to come on over. Literally from the moment I walked into the salon I had a completely different feeling then the first place I had been at. It was so welcoming, and not a lot had even been said yet. Ann and her team of ladies made dress shopping so much fun! As a plus size girl, shopping for clothes of any kind can be frustrating, let alone a wedding dress. That’s the day you want to feel your best. I didn’t expect to find my dress the first day out shopping, but I did. I am so happy I found it at Strut. What an amazing experience! Thank you Ann and Tamiko for making my wedding dress shopping experience amazing. You ladies are the best!

I’m so happy I chose strut bridal salon for my wedding dress! Maritza was amazing and made my experience awesome. I went in looking for a dress in a style that I thought was my dream dress. when that dress was very obviously was NOT my dream dress, Maritza was able to conjure up dress after dress in amazing fun and unique styles. Maritza was a blast and had me laughing and excited the entire time. She was able to handle my very large entourage and me, I can be sarcastic and hard to read but she got me! I am overwhelmingly happy with the dress that I picked for my wedding and I am so happy that Strut Bridal Salon and Maritza helped me in finding it!

I was so apprehensive about buying a dress and not feeling as special as I wanted but the staff at strut made me feel so safe and I judged that I was able to find my dream dress on the first trip and I am so excited for my bid day now! Believe me when I say, I was the least excited about getting married knowing I will not find the dress of my dreams. I called multiple bridal shops and the regular response was «bring a friend of an average size and let them try on dresses, if you like them on your friend, we can custom order it in your size.» I was afraid I had to go looking for a friend with my same frame, same curve ratio, same height to understand if a dress would look nice on me — then hope that the custom order would come out to my expectations.
I Unilocaled «plus size bridal» and Strut was one of the two store options that came up. I got my cousin and my made of honor and went off to Strut. While the design of the store interior and exterior was nothing bridal, the actual dresses said otherwise.
Melissa was the original rep who helped me look for dresses. One after another, every dress I tried on fit me like a glove but more importantly, were actually candidates for my possible wedding dress. Of course, shorty after I found THE ONE. Melissa and Tamiko then helped accessorize it because I can’t have a sleeveless dress. They helped me find the most beautiful sleeves, the most gorgeous vail, and helped me think about how I would wear my hair up.
I left that day and came back with my parents. Tamiko quickly recognized me and pulled the right dress for me to try on. While I tried on other dresses as well (just for fun for my parents), I left THE ONE to the end. When I saw my father put on his sunglasses, I knew it was THE ONE!
To feel beautiful as a plus size girl is so difficult in this world. They allowed me to feel beautiful. They allowed me to know that I have choices too and don’t have to settle.
Thank you girls for all of your help! I simply can’t thank you enough. I can’t wait to pick up my dress in October!!!
To the next plus size girl who is getting married, make sure to go to Strut before you go to the next plus size store. I promise you, you will not regret it. The dresses are MODERN, you don’t have to give up your wedding ring to buy it (it’s not super expensive), and more importantly they are simply so understanding.
I am not sure why Strut didn’t come up as the #1 Plus Size store in The Knot when I was looking into plus size wedding stores. This place should come above all else.

I loved this bridal salon! I had gone to almost 30 other shops searching for a dress to buy but none of the other shops had dresses to fit my body. They wanted me to put the dress up to my body and use my imagination, uhh. No thanks! This is my wedding dress people! Then I met with Tamiko who understood my dreams from the start! I bought the first dress I tried on and can’t wait to marry my fiancé looking and feeling fabulous in the dress! Thank you again tamiko!

Found this place on a google search yesterday and took my bride to be friend that had just come to town. They were free and Martiza was able to help immediately. I have never been to a dress fitting and if this is the bar that is set, I’m spoiled. Martiza was amazing. She’s friendly, genuine and really knows her stuff. She listened to my friend who had a pretty good idea of what she’s been looking for but offered up some suggestions and brought out a couple samples that the bride hadn’t really thought of but really liked. More importantly, my friend has been to a few shops now in her search for the right dress and she hadn’t had any fun. This should be a fun experience and her visit to Strut’s was what she thought dress shopping would be like.
It’s a smaller shop with less of a selection than a store like David’s but their customer service and warmth far surpassed a David’s (that’s another review).
The prices also seemed reasonable as far as wedding dresses go and they have someone available to do alterations. It also seemed as if they could pretty much add/​remove to any dresss to make it the way you want.

I am so happy that this place exists. A plus-​size bridal shop with beautiful one-​of-​a-​kind and flattering designs for both bridal gowns and bridal party gowns. In early April I needed a dress for a fancy wedding at a winery in the Bay Area. I had bought a dress already, but it needed many alterations to make it wedding-​ready.
I came into Strut on a Saturday afternoon, and Tomiko was able to help me right away. I tried the on-​the-​rack ready-​to-​wear bridesmaid dresses (I was not a bridesmaid but thought I might find a pretty dress anyway), and I found one great candidate, this beautiful formal gown in a metallic pewter. It ended up being just a touch too formal (perfect for black tie) but I was excited to find such a beautiful gown. I ended up going with my original dress, but next time my fancy-​dress shopping will START at Strut.

I absolutely adore this bridal shop!!! I went in had a great time, had options! They listened to what I said and found dresses that not only flattered my body, but also met my expectations and desires. The appointment was comfortable, fun, and successful! I recommend strut to anyone who is not a 3,5, or 7. I didn’t feel pressured, or rushed at our appointment. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ in my eyes.

Last month I was looking for my wedding dress and traveled throughout Los Angeles visting over 10 boutiques. Even though they provided nice service, none of them had many options for me since I’m a plus size girl. I remembered on of my clients had recommended this store, so I decided to check it out, and I’m so glad I did. They had over 10 dresses for me to try on, and my stylist for the day Tamiko was awesome. After trying on 4 dresses, I feel in love with the 5^th. Everyone was extremely helpful and has consistently followed up with me to make sure everything is going smoothly. I can’t say they offer the lowest prices but they have quality service, and that’s what’s most important… As in the words of Tamiko «Don’t hanger hate», come down and check them out because I said yes to the dress!

Strut, Tamiko, and all the ladies here are great. When I picked up my dress I was very happy. They have a wide selection of dresses for plus size brides that make you feel like you can find an ideal dress. They are patient with you and work with your budget.
I’m hoping to have a great experience with my final alteration as well. Thank you Strut!

My experience here was wonderful and I would recommend this shop to any plus sized friends looking for a dress. I thought their selection of all 12+ dresses was more than enough for every tastes. I loved that they were still priced in the affordable to reasonable category. I thank them for a pain-​free check in process, helpful initial consultation to narrow down my wants /​needs, and their patience as I tried on dresses while photographing a few maybe-​winners was endless.
I didn’t end up finding «the dress» at Strut, but I would say my total experience at Strut was wonderful! My advice is to make an appointment and bring lots of pictures of possible dress styles to help narrow down the selection. Also, they are very, very experienced at fitting the dress to the body shape and personality. For every 5 that you try on for you, maybe give them a chance to select a dress out of the box for you. My near-​winner was the first dress they bought to try on, and ended up being the style that I purchased elsewhere. I owe them a lot for helping me enjoy the process, instead of cringe at the sight of me in white.

If I could give them a zero I would. Worst customer service ever, I expected more from a place that called themselves a boutique. Long story short, it enrages me to even think about it now.
My wife bought a dress and naturally assumed it was clean, nope, we had to pay money to have it cleaned from a reputable shop. Their seamstress Vicky is an employee they associate with supposedly, but don’t employ. That was not made clear and I thought the dress was safe, but it wasn’t.
Each person blamed the other for the dress being dirty. I cared less about the blame and more about somebody showing good customer service to correct the problem. The seamstress offered to clean it in her house, no thanks :(if I believe it got dirty there why would I leave it longer??? Nope.
The owner NEVER returned my call, how rude is that. It’s your business!!! We paid for the whole special package and aside from them «storing» it which I content takes no extra effort and should have been free with the package, they did nothing else. It probably got dirty at their store and at the seamstress’ house, either way it caused a panic 2 weeks before the wedding when it shouldn’t have.
The wedding was in November and I haven’t heard a peep or a sorry. I still have nightmares. We paid for the after cleaning already, but again why would I trust them with anything.
Stay away. Go somewhere else where customer service matters most. Not here.

Strut and Tamiko are amazing! At the beginning of my appointment, Tamiko pulled a dress that she said didn’t get enough love, but thought it would be perfect for me. She was right! Turns out they had never sold one like it in their salon, which made me a happy camper because I wanted something unique.
I also really liked the fun industrial atmosphere of this shop. It really contrasts nicely with trying on gowns with nothing to distract from your experience. Plus the prices were very fair, and there was a great selection of gowns.
Both consultants were super sweet, and from the get go Tamiko made me feel like we had been friends for ages. Never once did I feel ashamed of being a curvy girl or like I had to hide my body. Plus she was honest when something didn’t look good in my shape.

Strut is a wonderful & beautiful bridal boutique! I just said «yes to the dress» a few weeks ago and I am still head over heels in awe of my dress! I can’t wait to go back for my first fitting. Tamiko made my appointment so easy & took everything I said I wanted in a dress & found the perfect one for me.
Being a plus size bride can be tough, especially while looking for the perfect dress, but to be completely honest, when you walk into Strut all your worries are out the door. I felt so at ease & comfortable while trying on dresses & never once worried about fitting into a dress.
My sister also purchased her wedding dress here two years ago and nothing has changed, except the fact that I think they have just gotten better by the day! AMAZING boutique, I definitely recommend Strut to everyone reading this.

Tamiko and team were amazing. She helped me into countless dresses including those that weren’t originally what I had imagined because she had a great vision of what would look good on my body type. I found the perfect dress, which was nothing like the dress of my dreams… it’s better! It’s gorgeous and I can’t wait to walk down the aisle.
If you’re a curvy girl, nervous about going to a regular ‘ol bridal shop, I totally recommend STRUT. They know what looks great and they have an amazing selection of plus-​sized dresses. You don’t have to have the awkward 8″ gap in the back of the dress when you show off to your girlfriends… Love, love, love!

I scheduled an appointment here with my mom and sister back in June. I feel so bad because I don’t remember my consultant’s name but she seemed very nice and helpful. There was a dress I found on their Unilocal page that I really liked and luckily they still carried it. Unfortunately, it was quite large and looked terrible on me.
The store is spacious but the dresses are pretty limited. I showed her some styles I was interested in and the dresses she recommended weren’t nearly as close to what I wanted. Many of them looked outdated and matronly and that made me feel more discouraged about dress shopping.
While in the dressing room she had advised me that if by August I hadn’t found a dress yet that they’ll be getting some new shipments in. It was nice of her to let me know that but my goal was to find a dress no later than July.
I wished I had a better experience here. I read many of their positive reviews and I thought I could at least find some potential contenders but I was very disappointed. Strut and I were just not meant to be.

I love this place, I’m so glad my mom told me about it here. Before I went here I had gone to David’s Bridal like most brides, and the service was horrible. My family did everything to find me a dress I might like at David’s and the staff was rude. Then I came here to strut, and let me tell you it was a complete 160. The staff was beyond wonderful. They addressed all my concerns that I had and listen to what I wanted in a dress. Ann was so great and helpful. She helped me in and out of dresses till I found the one I LOVE! The dress is gorgeous, and they also got some more lace that matches my dress to be able to add sleeves. Ann was extremely accommodating with everything. At this point I couldn’t be more happier with this place! Every time someone says they are looking for a dress shop I recommend Strut!

I got my dress here at Strut, and let me tell you, I write this review with a great sadness. This may be a long one– but please bear with me, and give this a read.
OK– made an appointment and came in to Strut, honestly, a bit nervous. We were met by Tomiko, and she was really great at helping me find a dress, helping me into and out of several dresses, and ultimately, I was super excited that I found a dress that I absolutely fell in love with. My parents generously opted for the most expensive care package to take care of my dress. I left my first trip to Strut on cloud nine. I was so excited!
Unfortunately, that’s where the good stopped. When it came time for my first fitting, I tried scheduling an appointment. I was told that Vicky was only available on certain days. I was told to schedule an appointment with her at either her home, or at another shop where she works in Whittier. I really didn’t want to go to someone’s home (someone I don’t know), so I opted to take half of a day off of work and travel out to Whittier. Upon arriving, Vicky informs me that she didn’t bring my dress, and that I had to wait until she was off and meet her at her house in Los Angeles. So I took time off of work and traveled there for nothing. Grrr… She then proceeded to show up a half an hour later than she told me. When I tried the dress on again, I noticed it was a little dirty. I left feeling frustrated and sad.
Given my interaction with Vicky, it just didn’t feel right, so I went in to the shop to see what could be done. I was basically met with the response that Vicky is just subcontracted by Strut (something that was unclear to me until that point) and it was up to her to clean it, and that it was up to me to convey this to her. I’m feeling less and less confident, and more and more worried. I called Vicky twice and left her a message asking her to clean the dress. I never heard back from her until I went to pick the dress up from her, at her house– again. Needless to say, she had not cleaned the dress. In fact, it appeared to be dirtier. I didn’t want her to have my dress any longer. I opted to take the dress elsewhere where I was told that it was considered «soiled», and that there was no way I could have gotten it as dirty as it was in the little time I had worn it.
Basically, my parents paid over $ 1000 for a dirty dress.
I want to point out, that I reached out to Strut more than once during this process. Both the store and their contracted seamstress took the attitude that «it’s not my fault». I understand that dresses are purchased «as is», but at what point does the business take some pride in their product and help to remedy this problem? This whole experience has left me with a horrible taste in my mouth– so much so that I don’t even want to return for the preservation that was purchased with my package. Who knows where they will send it.

The dress looked fabulous. Thank you Strut! I was able to add sleeves to the strapless dress to make it my vision. I still receive emails from Strut checking up on me since my wedding. Great customer service.

Being in a new relationship with a guy that likes to eat (and me having a lack of self-​control) and being generally inactive due to a packed schedule, I found myself gaining an extra ten pounds. I needed a formal dress for an event, and I was having a difficult time finding something that I liked.
As a last-​ditch resort, I stopped by Strut, since I live really close by. I wasn’t sure what to expect, seeing as its a bridal store, but I figured there would have to be some bridesmaid dresses that I could browse.
Most of the dresses here were too large. If I had come in earlier, they could have altered them, ordered them in another size, or even gotten me a specific, desired color. I did, however, find a few dresses that I could wear!
I ended up walking out of the store with two clearance dresses. Each was $ 25 as they are clearing out their stock for a new shipment. I mean, that’s a complete steal. There’s no way I would have found these dresses at this price anywhere else. One of them is a little loose and needs the hem brought up, but I think it’ll serve its purpose.
The girl who worked with me (I forgot her name and her card is at home) was so sweet. She stuck with me while I tried on dress after dress, and she even helped me put them on.
This store is a great resource if you’re looking for formal wear, and if you’re getting married, the wedding dress selection is great as well. There was a bride at the same time while I was there, and she was really happy with all the choices (or maybe not so, since she now had some hard decisions to make — ha).
