In the end the chopped salad was what I expected. What I did not expect was a salad made with old lettuce. After pulling out brown and wilted pieces I finally requested a fresh salad and the difference was instantly visible. Shame on the chef that sent out the first salad. Your customers deserve better then that! Aka The Boathouse

First off the mixed green salad was awesome with orange wassabe vinaigrette, so tasty. The crab melt sandwich was perfect balance of bread cheese and meat. So satisfying. And all in little long beach airport who would of guessed.

We had a 3 hr layover enroute to NYC. The airport is really small and there are not a lot of places to eat. McKenna’s On The Fly is in the airport section over one away from where the planes let you board and unboard. We decided to have breakfast: 1. Hubby had the Big Breakfast Platter — came with eggs, potatoes, bacon and pancakes, $ 10. A good buy. The waitress, Jennifer, was really nice and told us they’re known for the cinnamon pecan butter for the pancakes. I thought it was too sweet. OJ1 glass $ 2.70 2. I tried the Large breakfast — eggs, bacon(or sausage) and shredded hash potatoes which were good, $ 9. You can eat inside on the counter or outside in the patio area where there are more tables.

Great little place to hang and eat while waiting for a flight. They make an amazing Bloody Mary and their Tri tip Sandwhich is pretty good. Not a bad combo if you ask me!

Do NOT get the chopped salad. Their house dressing is foul and the combo of ingredients weren’t fresh at all. Many of the lettuce pieces were off color and the tomatoes were soggy. My husband got the cesar salad and even that was disappointing. On a plus side the waitress Lauren was very nice and noticed I didn’t like the salad and took it off our bill. But still, friendly warning that the salads are not worth it.

Restaurant quality food you would expect outside of an airport so nice to have it in an airport.

Food was excellent, service was great! $$$$ on a manias — 1 mamosa $ 13.99 — is crazy — Delius has bottomless mamosas for $ 12 — Breakfast plate $ 10 and 2 mamosas — $ 40 +. Wish they kept their prices the way they were a few months ago, why increase them over 40%

I know being at an airport gives you a captive audience, but this is no excuse for slow service, a snotty sever and low grade food. Come on Mckennas you can do better.

Get the burger. Do yourself a favor and add cheese, bacon and avocado. Yum. Coffee was meh, but it did its job. We had a really friendly server who helped us out with the menu and brought us our food quick and hot! Would absolutely come back before a flight to grab some good noms.

It’s not even 7AM. With no seats inside, we sit at the bar. Was asked, is he 21? Can’t sit at the bar. Moved to sit outside in the cold. Seriously, we just want breakfast & there is nobody sitting at the bar. Not impressed!!!

Never eaten here before so I can’t really comment too much it looks nice menu looks good the food I’ve seen people eat look good I’ll try it one day when I’m on break it looks a little pricey though but what do you expect from airport prices. So I’ma give it four stars just for the presentation

Ordered the shrimp linguini. The sauce was zesty and the small chunks of garlic and cracked red pepper made for a delightful combination. I could tell each pieced of shrimp was carefully sautéed, and they were all generous in size. This meal could easily pass as a great lunch or dinner at the Long Beach airport. In addition the outside tables in the nice California weather are a great touch and much appreciated during the winter when visiting from colder climates.

Come to LGB, even for a layover is worth the trip. Good food, happy place. Love the breakfast, love the live band in the evening.

Although I miss the old restaurant and bar upstairs at the Long Beach airport McKenna’s does a solid job. Freshly prepared omelets and French toast are a fresh update to many airport restaurants. There is polite service, good Bloody Mary’s, and solid food. A great place to fuel up and unwind pre flight at LGB–

McKenna’s is a little bar in the Long Beach airport. The bartenders are really nice and even when we’ve heard four glasses break in the span of time(a couple of hours) we were there, they were still very pleasant. One of the girls even refilled a man’s drink after he broke his glass! Service was great. They did not rush us out considering how long we sat at the bar mainly to kill time, but maybe they’ve had worse since it is an airport. The food was only mediocre though. The shoestring fries were okay, but a side order of them could feed two or three people.

This was my first time in Long Beach airport, an just had a really nice breakfast! I had the veggie egg white omelette and ordered a side of ham, both were delicious. Great service, thank you Jennifer. I will definitely be back again

I’m a sucker for airport restaurants. Came here for a snack and drink before I got on my short flight to Oakland. Sat at the bar and the bartender was really friendly. I had a double rum and pineapple, a cup of clam chowder, and calamari. All came out to 28 and change. It’s a relaxed atmosphere and the food was pretty decent. This is why I love the long Beach airport I can literally order a meal 30 mins before my flight boards and still make it on my flight with lots of time to spare.

I love flying out of Long Beach Airport. Overall, the food choices at this airport are stellar — the best I’ve seen at any airport. When I have arrived too early at the airport and need to kill some time, my personal favorite is McKenna’s. I love the patio seating, which is inside the airport, but the roof is entirely open air. If you are there for an evening flight and get the chance to sit here and watch the sunset, it’s awesome! The burgers and shoestring fries are delicious, and filling! The wine selection is yummy. The food is priced well for the quality and factoring in airport prices. I paid $ 23 for my burger, fries and glass of wine($ 10 wine, $ 13 burger). The food is so good and the ambiance is so pleasant at McKenna’s that I almost choose flying out of Long Beach airport just so I can come here!

This place was an amazing way to start my day! Everything about it pleased me. Long Beach Airport has this wonderful little diner right past security. I purposely arrived early to the airport to miss all the commuter traffic. This meant I had about two hours to kill before my flight. McKenna’s is ultra modern and chic for a diner. It has super attractive lights hanging down from the ceiling. Chairs and counter top have sleek and sharp edges. I sat right at the counter and was greeted immediately by a super friendly bartender who was ready to take my DRINK order. At first glance, I thought it was a counter top only, but full on bar was what it was. Bottles Bottles Bottles. Eight in the morning on a Thursday was little too early for me to start drinking alcohol, even if I was on vacation. My drink of choice was coffee and cream. REALLY good coffee. The bartender informed me it was locally roasted. She said Long Beach has been serving it since she was a kid. Kinda cool! I ordered the LGB breakfast. HUGE plate of food for only NINEDOLLARS at an AIRPORT!!! Two eggs, toast potatoes and sausage. YUMYUM. Not much seasoning, just a little salt, I think. It definitely did the trick. LIke I said, I had time to kill. I sat and took my usual HOUR to eat a meal. I really like to enjoy my food. I think I had like three cups of that coffee too. Took my time trolling Facebook, while people watching. I was never rushed. I really appreciated it. LAX should really take note from this place. I haven’t seen anything as great as this little diner in an airport outside PDX in a LONG time. :)

Having your flight delayed is never ideal, but if my flight is going to get delayed, please let it be at LGB, because then I can hang out at McKenna’s. McKenna’s is a random square of a bar with tables/tiny booths surrounding it like a U, nestled in the non-JetBlue side of the airport. It has a bit of a modern feel to it with it’s sleek furnishing and sexy lighting, but what really stands out is the food! I had an ahi tuna salad and besides the produce being fresh, the ahi was deliciously seasoned, perfect cooked and went great with the dressing. As I was sitting at the bar, I was also able to see what everyone around me ordered and let me just say that everyone was happy and can’t wait til next time so I can try that club sandwich! Service was also super nice and the bartender went above and beyond. She offered up her personal phone charger when she thought mine was broken and even ran down the terminal after a guest that forgot his credit card. For a cool restaurant that has swanky digs, great food and excellent service, Yay! I’m a fan. Unilocal 100 Challenge: 96⁄100
