I have been ill with an undiagnosed condition for over fifteen months. I had a doctor last year who didn’t do much for me, other than put me on anti-​psychotic medicines that only made me worse, because, contrary to my doctor’s belief, my illness is NOT just in my head. I had really terrible insurance last year and racked up nearly ten grand in medical bills because I was basically willing to run every test imaginable, DESPERATE to figure out what’s wrong with me!
I now have the Cadillac of insurances, and I found Dr. Manos when I had to pick providers through my insurance company’s website. When I met Dr. Manos, I was miserable. I was suffering from all these supposed food allergies and I was weening myself off of medicine I knew I should have been on in the first place. I lost over fifty pounds in less than six months. I was living off bananas and oatmeal, and everything «gluten free» I could find. After a brief discussion regarding my short and tumultuous medical history, He told me, verbatim: «You are not allergic to those foods if you had been eating them your whole life up until last year with no incidents. I want you to go home tonight and eat whatever you want.» Despite my trepidation, I did just that. The first thing I ate was a powdered doughnut, and it was amazing! Since then I’ve put weight back on (which kind of sucks, but I always told people since I’ve been sick that I’d rather be able to eat and be a little heavier, and it’s true!). I am not back to eating pretty much whatever I want (I can’t eat spicy anymore D:), and I know I wouldn’t be if it weren’t for him.
I am not 100% thrilled with his techniques, however. Every time I visit his office I am left waiting in the lobby, then left waiting in the exam room. This past Wednesday my appointment was at 10:00. I showed up at 9:15, in the hopes that I could be seen early, or at least wouldn’t be waiting as long. He didn’t come in the exam room until 11:00, and even then he only spent about ten minutes with me and ordered some more tests. He is convinced my problems all boil down to some sort of severe allergy, but that remains to be seen. I would be giving a better review if it weren’t for the wait times in his office. I work about 70 hours a week. I don’t have time to be waiting around the doctor’s office for two hours.
His bedside manner leaves a little to be desired. I feel as though he is not sensitive to the fact that the remaining symptoms I have make me MISERABLE. I exclaimed to him this week, «Am I going to f***ing be like this forever?» And he started to laugh, and I just wanted to cry. Perhaps he found the expletive funny, but I thought his reaction was rude. I was sitting on the examination table, in tears, because I am desperate to know what’s going on inside of me.
I think Dr. Manos is a good doctor as far as attempting to figure things out goes. However, I think he should work on his bedside manner a little bit, and be a little more sensitive to the needs and attitudes of his patients.
I will be back to him next month. The struggle continues!

I love Dr. Amador! She is smart, amazing and above all truly cares! I had bloodwork done and she called me as soon as results were in personally because she knows I worry! Very lucky to have her as my primary. I have also seen Dr. Manos numerous times and he really knows his stuff. Can’t go wrong coming here. Only reason they are not 5 stars is because the front office staff is not the friendliest.

Dr Manos and Dr Amador are excellent doctors with great positive attitudes. Why in Gods name are their office staff, particularly the girl at the patient window, so rude, unprofessional, uncaring, impatient, snide, and loaded with so much negativity and arrogant attitude? For what we pay and our employers pay for health care, patients who are ill or in pain should not have to deal with such nasty, unprofessional, snarky and rude behavior. If you hate your job, quit!

I can’t believe the severity of the complaints from these people! I’ve treated at Kaiser for the past 11 years. That’s uncaring. This is merely a busy practice. Dr. Amador is super cool, and Dr. Manos is a total pro.
The millennials in the front office are what they are. That’s modern customer service.

Dr Manos is good doctor I like him a lot. Unfortunately his office people are some of the rudest people I have ever spoken with. I asked for a refill of BP medicine. They asked if I could come in right now and I said no because I was at work. I said I could come in any other day. She cut me off and said if I cant cooperate she would have to ask the doctor. I repeated nicely that I just need to give my work notice. She VERY RUDELY AGAIN said «I don’t understand what you’re taking about, do you want me to ask him or not???» After this conversation I hope I at least get my BP med filled, I feel like I need them!

Dear Dr. Manos,
Your reception and the female staff working in your office are a reflection of you. Your staff, is unfriendly, uncaring, in a field where kindness and genuine concern for others is appreciated and should be one of your top priorities. Shame on you for continuing to pay such low life people to work for you.

Totally unprofessional office! Shame on them for becoming a typical run of the mill provider.

My husband has strep throat and needs to see the dr today for antibiotics. He is in a lot of pain. The office is supposed to open at 9am, it is now 9:15 and there is no answer when I call. It goes straight to an automated message which does not say whether or not they’re even open today (day after Thanksgiving). If they ARE closed they should say that in the message. But they should not be closed. People get sick over holiday weekends too and now we have to spend $ 100 to go to the er?! I am switching pcp asap. This is ridiculous.

I recently switched from my former PCP to Dr. Manos, and let me say it was a great decision. My health issues are both numerous and complex and Dr. Manos took the time to go over every single issue with me in detail. He also gave me one of the most thorough physical exams I’ve ever had by a doctor, which probably has to do with him being a D.O., as opposed to an M.D.
In going over all the paperwork his office sent me prior to my 1^st appointment, he also went over ever single thing I had one it, one by one, and asked me many questions about each issue I had listed on the paperwork and best of all, really took the time to listen to me! Towards the end of the appointment he then said… «the bad news is: You have a lot of health issues going on here, and some quite severe! The good news is we’re going to get you fixed up and feeling a lot better». That is something I had not heard from my last doctor ever.
At one point, while putting all my information into my patient file electronically, he pushed his laptop away and told me about a conversation he and another doctor (who’s been practicing a long time) recently had. He told me that their conversation was about how so many doctors today simply rely on the computer and what’s input into it by a doctor and what info it gives them back (such as possible diagnosis, medications, etc.) that they often times don’t even bother to thoroughly examine their patients anymore. He then added that while he needed to get all this info input into my medical record and chart, that I could be assured I would get his personal attention, and that I would be thoroughly examined each time I saw him and that he would rely on his training, education and years of experience to treat me and not rely on the computer to simply spit out medications to give me for the symptoms or recommend I be sent to a specialist.
Another thing that impressed me about Dr. Manos was that he sincerely wants to find out what the underlying causes are to my numerous other health issues, and not just treat the symptoms, which is what most doctors do today, which is the issue I had been facing with my previous PCP and some of the doctors she was sending me to. Don’t get me wrong, my previous PCP was a very, very nice and well meaning doctor, however I think she was more caught up in playing nice within the IPA system, and in simply treating symptoms, than in finding out the what the underlying causes are to my numerous other health issues. Let’s face it, HMO’s, IPA’s, & PPO’s are great for insurance billing and racking up the medical expenses to bill your insurance for, but man do I long for those good old days where there weren’t such things as HMO’s, IPA’s & PPO’s and doctors ran their own single practices, did their own billing and actually treated you and tried to find out what was truly wrong with you and not just treat the underlying symptoms, rather than finding out the root cause (s). This also includes times when doctors actually made house calls and answered their phones instead of simply telling you to go to the hospital after hours.
For the first time in a long time, I have a doctor sincerely interested in finding out what the underlying causes to my severe & chronic pain are, as well as a brand new pain management doctor, who is finally willing to try other types of treatment and therapy besides narcotic pain meds, which is all they had been doing for over 5 years, despite my numerous requests to try other things, like nerve blocks, Cortisone injections, TENS, etc. I had been willing to try just about anything that might have helped if it meant getting off narcotic pain meds, but none of my former doctors paid any attention to my requests. It was just too easy to put a band-​aid on the symptoms, and to simply do the easiest thing, to treat me, which was write another prescription for narcotic pain meds!
Thank you Dr. Manos for really caring and really wanting to figure out what else is going on besides the obvious CHF, CAD, Diabetes & Neuropathy in figuring out the root cause of my pain issues, fatigue, insomnia and other things! I can’t say thank you enough! I’ve got a long way to go to feeling good again, but you are a great start to getting there! With you and and my new pain management doctor, Dr. Barretto, I finally see relief in my future and some light at the end of the tunnel.

Very rude, always hurried, uncaring. Whenever we try to provide more information he doesn’t want to hear it. On many occasions he seems bothered that we have questions.

Dr. Manos is an okay doctor if you don’t want to have a relationship with your doctor. He gives lots of new doctors opportunities to work in his office. That means you may get Dr. Manos or you may get a brand new doctor and you may be their first patient. He’s quite rude as well as the front office staff is rude. Luckily, I have a choice in doctors so I will change to one that isn’t after the numbers and training new doctors. I want a doctor that cares about me and I can tell he does.

My children are the third generation going to Dr. Manos. I have been seeing him for well over 20 years and refer others to him. It was because of his guidance I entered health care 20 years ago. I have been taking care of his patients and all are very happy with his care and compassion. Today Dr. Manos is also responsible for educating and preparing the clinicians of tomorrow. If you are looking for a primary care physician (PCP) you’ll be in great hands in either Dr. Ellen Amador or him. Dr. Amador is passionate and compassionate. Dr. Amador is everything nice missing in many practitioners today. This office still practices old fashioned medicine.

I have been seeing Doctor Manos for appx 2 years and will be seeking another General Physician soon. He is always late when I am on-​time. Takes no time to get to know me and immediately tries to push psychotropic meds on me when it is obvious I don’t have depression. How can you even make that diagnosis if we barely even talk??? Not personable at all; you should feel like your doctor gives 2 cares about you when you meet him. Never asks me about my personal life, job or everyday things. Just straight to the psychotropic meds. Sounds like a fucking salesman for the pharmaceutical companies! Always with this guy. I have taken a few Psychology courses. Enough to know that these drugs have diff. thresholds of tolerance for EVERY patient and most of the time are hit and miss. Unless you are seriously depressed you should not mess with these things. AND I DON“T NEED THEM. I have a pissed off look on my face because you left me waiting for an hour. I am super busy at work and it is hard to find time to find another doctor but I have had it and will do so shortly. This guy is a judgmental dick who like your $$ more than you! Don’t walk, RUN away.

I think Dr. Manos is an excellent PCP. I feel very fortunate to have found someone who is warm, funny, very smart, and very skilled AND takes medicare. I’m especially impressed by the scope of his knowledge. He’s holistic in the truest sense of the word, considering body/​mind to be of a whole. He’s a busy guy and like so many doctors isn’t able to spend enough time with patients. You gotta be able to talk fast and smart to get the most out of him! I’d recommend him to anyone looking for a PCP.

I made an appointment with Dr. Ellen Amador, D.O. after asking friends for recommendations for a general physician. Locating the office building was easy and finding a parking spot was a breeze (there is a free private structure). The office is small but clean and orderly. The staff is nice and professional. I arrived about 15 minutes early and the front desk attendant helped me right away. I was called for my appointment right on time. Dr. Amador has a very inviting personality and is easy to talk to. She was informative and appeared to care about my concerns and gave me referrals as appropriate.
