Part 2 of the sandwich hunt. Stopped by Gallo’s and had the Epic which was turkey avocado. The bread was good and there was plenty of turkey to fill you up. I liked that they had the choice of white and wheat bread. They were a bit light on the veggie choices. Worth a return visit… I may try the Italian sandwich next time.

This place is a SCAM! When I placed my order for two sandwiches the cashier/maker said, «Ok, that will be $ 23 something»(I forgot the exact amount). Anyway, I kindly agreed and gave her my card. At signing there was an automatic tip function at the top with $ 3.27(unsure about exact)(it was at 20%) in bold, as well as options for other percentages. I DIDNOT select any tip percent, and she said my total was $ 23 something so I assumed that DIDNOT include the fricken 20% tip! Well when I closed out– wham– it DID include it! Wtf? Why would you tell a customer the after tip amount… a tip amount that you select? Trust is important for a business and this chick failed. I didn’t say anything at check out, but I asked for a receipt. Ironically, and conveniently, she was unable to print one!!! I left my information for the manager and I got no response. Also, my sandwich was made without gloves. AND it was not wrapped in the white paper, so when I got home after being pissed my sandwich fell on the floor bc it was only wrapped in the small plastic square. So for those saying 20% is standard for service, know that tipping is to reward good service AND the customer chooses the amount– if I got adequate service I wouldn’t complain. Safe to say I will never be back.

Ordered a BBQ sandwich Full Size Total $ 8.67 including tax Swiped my card Didn’t include a tip Low and behold, a unauthorized tip is added to my order by the very(and i mean VERY) unattractive cashier. She must have had a drug problem or Something. I came here with my buddy who also ordered a sandwich with some extra stuff and a water bottle. The total came out to $ 12 he also was rung up an unauthorized tip, his statements showed a $ 15 total. I called and asked how much was a large BBQ sandwich with tax to confirm, and it was $ 8.67! I asked what the hell is going on here and the ghetto hood rat manager«Laura» or «lorde» who mumbled her name said it must have been my fault. «you must have tipped» Refused to contact the owner and refused to let the owner know of the incident. I got my money back via Capital One but I just got done filing a complaint with Visa and the FTC. THISHASHAPPENEDTOOTHER UnilocalUSERS, read the NEGATIVEREVIEWS!

Got the Turbocado with cheese. Sandwich is delish. Staff was unenthusiastic but I’m not expecting them to sing or dance. Maybe just a smile and don’t look so bothered when I’m asking about the special. I’d come back but I’m paying cash next time. Not a fan of unauthorized tip to be added on my card.

Sandwiches are good — bread really makes it. Service is lacking with employees always looking bored and miserable. Sandwiches sometimes take awhile because not busy enough to hire more than one person.

The turbacado can feed an entire family. Im going to be living off this sandwich for the next 24 hours. Did I mention I ordered the small?! They do NOT hold back on the meat! On 2nd street but not pricey and plenty of comfy seating. Everything is fresh and has a small deli quick lunch vibe. I’ll be returning soon good service!

I am a semi regular customer and today by far was my worst experience. Not only did I sit on hold for 15 min but I arrived to the deli before my phone call was taken. I was then told to wait an additional 15 min even to order. It took the 1 employee over 30 min to make a total of 6 sandwiches. So I spent 45 min of my 60 min lunch just trying to get my sandwich. The employee was impatient and rude. I understand your by yourself, but don’t take it out on your customers and find a way to be accommodating. Now… Having only 1 employee working when your only open during lunch is ridiculous and may be the reason I never come back. And that’s just too bad because the food is awesome and price is reasonable. Sucks that poor customer service and terrible staffing will deter me from coming back.

Ohhhhhhh my lanta. Gallos Italian Deli is so amazing! RP Cheesesteak. That is all. Jk.MAN! Everything here is delicious. They also sell bags of cookies and brownies from Isabella’s Cookies. We tried the Rocky Road cookies. My sister and I were so hooked, that we had to buy two more bags. lol. I know, such fatties! All of the sandwiches range from $ 7 – 8 with choices of hot and cold sandwiches. My sister and I shared a hot sandwich, RP Cheesesteak to be specific and that was super filling and yummy. It had Swiss cheese, red onions, jalapeños,(quality-meat) roast beef, and this special sauce(almost like ranch) on French bread. This was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had so far and that’s a big statement because I love my sandwiches! Hahaha. We also had bbq chips which were also really good and sweet. The drinks are self-serve to the left of the cashier. I’ll definitely be coming back again! Thanks for the great service! **PS there’s plenty of metered parking on 2nd street and street parking in the neighborhoods.

Gallos is by far the best sandwich shop on 2nd St! Friendly staff! The sandwich is so big you can’t even fit it in your mouth but that’s nothing to complain about.; TurboCado is the freshest and scrumptious sandwich on the menu! Cheers!

I love their delicious subs. They add a generous amount of cold cuts and they always make my sub the way I order it. The bread is delivered daily from a local bakery, so as you can imagine the softness and freshness of the bread. They are also friendly and the dining room is pleasant and the patio is always clean. You can also bring your dog and sit in the patio. The dogs will love it because they have water for them as well as doggie treat.

Sandwiches are the freshest nice had since I was younger and my favorite sandwich shop closed. Great open space inside and out. All the sandwiches are handmade and the ingredients are cut right then and there! Fresh bread and great friendly staff! This is my new spot whenever I’m around the strand.

The hubby and I decided to give this place a try after he got a haircut at American Vintage Barber shop just down the street. We were hungry and a Italian style sandwich sounded great. We got a full size BBQ beef sandwich on wheat and the cashier asked if we’d like any veggies such as bell peppers, lettuce, peppercinis, etc. I decided to have them throw on all the extras and some pepper jack cheese. We also had a macaroni salad and a self serve fountain drink on the side, but they also had a big selection of chips/cookies and bottled drinks. The guys working were friendly and went ahead and split the sandwich for us without me having to ask them to.(You’d be surprised how often place just don’t bother) The sandwich is perfectly toasted on amazingly soft wheat bread according to my husband who is super picky about breads. Our sandwich was hefty, delicious and with the side of mac, and filled us both up. Looking forward to trying out the location closer to home!

Biggest rip off! I paid $ 9 for a pathetic looking sandwich. I ordered it to go… should have checked it before I left because I wouldn’t have paid for that!

Love the sandwiches and service from the staff. I do have one complaint about the website. Ive tried several times to pull up the menu and it wont allow it. Also, when I pull up the website it shows its closed when in fact they are open. I would be concerned if I was the owner that some business could be lost by customers not able to see the menu online and that it states that the Italian deli is closed. I just left the resturant on a Wednesday night at 6pm. My only suggestion would be fixing your website.

Why one star? I’m trying to get the owners attention! I LOVE gallos, favorite sandwich in Long beach but they are always understaffed. I’m here @ 12pm– peak of lunch/sandwich eating hour and they have ONE staff member working. Taking orders, ringing them up, slicing meat and making the sandwiches! There are currently 12 people in the store waiting for their sandwich to be made and 2 people who haven’t ordered because there is only ONESTAFFMEMBER doing it all!!! This is cruel to do to your staff. I’m surprised they work for such an insensitive owner. I very rarely go back to places with terrible service but this is not the staffs fault, they are great! Get it together or you will be out of many customers and will eventually close down as a result. I’d be very sad to see this happen!
