My husband and I use to live in Belmont Heights and would walk 2^nd street a lot. DOMA has a location on 2^nd street and in downtown Long Beach. We walked by and looked at the listings that were posted outside of their building. We are both first time home buyers and didn’t really know much about the process. I called DOMA and scheduled an appointment to speak with Nick Resendez and he asked if we wanted to speak to someone about the financial piece of buying a home. We said yes and he brought in a person to speak with us about that too. My husband was a little reserved about doing this because he doesn’t want to feel pressured or feel like he was to give his personal information away. From that meeting we were better prepared. We had a better idea of what we could afford and knew how we could get our finances in order. My husband enjoyed the appointment. It took us over a year and a half to find our home. This wasn’t DOMA or Nick Resendez’ fault; we were just taking our time. We weren’t in a rush. We would really look then we would get discouraged by what our money would buy us. We would stop and then we would start looking a little while after. During the process of looking for a home, we would call, text, or email Nick and say we found this house and wanted to look at it. From there we were able to look at the house within that week. The nice thing about Nick is that he didn’t put pressure on us to buy a house and he didn’t make us feel like we were wasting his time. We were up front with him and told him that we were causally looking. Even though we told him that, he didn’t seem less committed to us. We finally placed our first bid on a house in summer 2014. He didn’t pressure us into making a bid and he guided us through the process. He told us what to expect and he communicated with us through the back and forth biding and communication with the owners of the home. He gave us time to make sure we were comfortable with the decisions we were making. At this point in our search, Joy Houlihan, Nick’s partner came on board. This was a plus for us because now we had 2 agents to work with. If we wanted to see a home and one agent was busy, the other agent took us. We trusted both of them equally. It was also nice to get a male and a female agent perspective on things. Both agents were professional and communicated in a timely manner. We didn’t feel like we were left out to dry There were a couple of times, when both of them went to see a home with us. We put 3 offers on homes before we were selected for a home. From my understanding, 3 offers is not much. I’ve heard of other people that have put a lot of offers before they were selected as buyers. We placed a 2^nd offer on a home around September then after a few days we found another home to look at. We absolutely loved the 3^rd house we saw and ditched the 2^nd offer. At that point, we were fully committed to the 3^rd home. It’s true what they say… when you find a home you really like, you just know it. Nick and Joy connected with the seller’s agent (who was a pain to deal with) and we were the first people to see the home. We saw the home while the sellers were there, that was kind of nice. We went back and forth with the price. There were little hiccups with the deal; however, it was not on our end or had nothing to do with Nick or Joy. It was happened on the seller’s end and with their agent. It was a little tough because the seller’s were in escrow as we were in escrow. Even though it was not an ideal situation, Nick and Joy never had us worried and reassured us that everything was in control. We didn’t doubt them at all. We knew they were dealing with the seller’s incompetent agent. You can’t help that. Nick and Joy were always a phone call away and answered any questions we had. We truly enjoyed our experience with them and you will too. They are a great team. They won’t disappoint.

Where so I start? I had an excellent experience, selling my home in Anaheim and buying in Long Beach. Joy and her partner Nick spent numerous hours showing my property and corresponding via text, phone and email because of my crazy work schedule.
It took 6 months to sell and buy and they worked so efficiently to help me through a complex 1031 exchange.
Joy is one of the most ethical realtors in the industry. She and Nick made up for so many horrible realtors I’ve dealt with in the past. She remained available and patient through the entire process and so encouraging when both parties were ready to cancel transactions.
I would highly recommend Joy and her partner Nick for your real estate needs.

I stopped in here yesterday after my co-​worker and I chowed down on some really awesome SUSHI at Yen Sushi (see review)!
My co-​worker liked the area and since I used the live like 2 blocks away I gave him the run down and skinny on the happs around here! He LOVED the place and so we popped in her while walking back to the car to go back to work… wah, wah, wah!
The place is really SMART LOOKING and has a clean feel to it! There was only two reps in there at the time and we spoke to them about what he was looking for!
She was very quick and showed him a few places that are on the market now RIGHT ON THE BEACH which is SWEET! I mean if you’re going to live by the BEACH the next best thing is an OCEAN FRONT VIEW the is NOT obstructed by a LARGE tree or another building where you end up craning you neck so much you end up needing a neck brace!
She asked for his info and was SUPER DUPER FRIENDLY and told him to call for anything and there was no such thing as a STUPID QUESTION! I guess she hasn’t been around long enough, cause I have heard some doosies! But her point was more… just call for anything, I’m here for you, I want to help you find your first home, I want that FRICIKIN BEACH commission! LOL! Just kidding, but NOT! The number of zero on a beach listing can take your breath away and burn out your corneas! I’m talking some places it is like over a mil for $ 700 square feet, with no closet space, an HOA with is about the same as your mortgage and no parking! It cost to be a BALLER!
Within minutes of us leaving she had emailed him several listings in the area! I told her to keep it in the Shore and NO Belmont Heights listings! If you’re gonna be a Shore water rat you need water to live by!
Having gone through the process before she seemed on her game but ONLY time will tell! I’ve always wondered why agents tell people to NOT BE PICKY as though they are NOT spending A LOT of MOOLA! No one wants to just take anything! It’s an INVESTMENT not a pair of shoes you can just take back to the store!

Take my advice… Do not go to DOMA! They are lazy, liars, and will cost you money with there amateur mistakes.
