AMC Theatres Pine Square

Just went by there yesterday… and The Darn thing has been shut down closed… Dang AMC you could had a Going out Business movie deal Sheesh! Off to Cinemark… at the PIKE

went and saw RED last weekend at this theater. was my first time there. the movie theater wasnt packed at all, which is awesome, considering i have a habit of not being so quiet during movies. :/​tickets were like 10 bucks i think, i dont know though, i didnt pay. but that alone is a reason i dont really ever go to the theater… well, that and the fact i tend to fall asleep during the movie. lame.
anyways, i snuck 4 bottles of Dos Equis and a bottle opener in, in my louis vuitton (how lady-​like of me, i know) and really enjoyed mine and my friends company (and of course the silent company of the 3 other people in the same theater).
Movie was good. Bathrooms were clean. Wasnt packed, Staff was kind. No complaints. When you buy your ticket though, afterwards to get to the actual theater, you have to go up the escalators to your right… My friend and I didnt know that, so for a second we were very confused. It was a short-​lived moment, though. thank goodness. :)

I was pretty disappointed with this theater. Being in the heart of downtown, you would think this place would be a bit more upscale. I’ve definitely been to nice AMC theaters, this was one of the worst. First strike, there’s a parking structure in the back, BUT they charge a fee even with validation. Really? Ended up finding street parking.
From the outside, it looks decent. Then you walk in. The place is a hot mess. Nobody collecting tickets at the front. We had to walk over to the concession stand. The lobby area was pretty unkempt, trash on the floor, didn’t look like anyone cared about presentation or sanitation.
Walked into the theater. It was tiny. No stadium seating, no high back chairs. It was definitely an old theater begging for a face lift. Will I be back? Nope, this place is a dump. Not at all worth the $ 9.75/admission.

The escalators to the theaters were turned off… I don’t mind walking, but isn’t that an OSHA violation?
There’s a reason that even these are the closest large-​scale theaters I never come to them, and now I remember why. Blecch.

It should improve because it’s in downtown Long Beach. (It’s considered Downtown right?
yeah, the Unilocaler below said this place deserves more then a 1 star… OK so I’ll give it a 2 stars, only because Monday night the theater was pretty empty and it didn’t stink. (stink as in bad smell) But it stink as an adjective to describe the theater and staffs.
Cons: No theater parking. Came here for a Monday night movie, and the parking structure behind said it’s $ 5 with theater validation. HUH!!! Gotta be kidding right? call me cheap but I turned around and found metered parking on the streets.
Restroom were dirty. Do people that comes into this theater don’t know how to flush toilets? I walked in and 8 of the 10 stalls were dirty and not flushed!!! ~ But worse of all why isn’t there any staff cleaning it, or should I say cleaning after careless customers who don’t care if there #1 or #2 goes down the drain?!?
Seats are OK. No headrest so you can’t lean back, and drink holders arm rest don’t go up! (Old school) Screen are small in a tiny one isle miniature theater, but dang the stereo system is banging loud!
Despite that they didn’t have Alice In Wonderland in 3-​D and the lady bringing her crying baby in the back row. The baby kept on crying and all she can do is shhh! shhh! shhh!
We were so annoyed and walked out, wanted to get a refund but went to see Our Family’s wedding instead. So the 2 stars made up for it because it got us cracking up we forgot how crappy the theater was!
Wanted to get popcorn, but my sister said while she was waiting for me, the theater employees was trying to chase a rat out! So didn’t know if it ran out the theater or disappeared somewhere else in the theater! (I am NOT exaggerating!)
Pros: What Pros??? maybe just that there is a Starbucks across the street but had smelly homeless old men sitting outside and around talking and scoping out all the chicks that walked by! I felt goose bumps as I had no choice walking by to go inside Starbucks!
This was a free movie for us, If I had to pay for it, I would not gone to this theater at all.

The people were fine.
The parking and the actual theater was not.
I kid you not, the theater only had maybe 8 seats in each row. It was so narrow, I felt like I was in a hallway.
Seats aren’t stadium so if your short, expect people’s heads to be in your way.
Arm rest don’t go up.
The screen is really small, at home projection screens can probably produce the same image as long as your house was big enough (ok I might be exaggerating slightly)
It doesn’t help that parking sucks. I think I parked on Broadway, 2 hours free with validation and $ 2 every 30mins. Make sure your not watching a 3 hour long movie.
I rather download a bootleg and watch a movie at home than come to this place again.

Despite the fact that you can bring your Johnny Rockets meal (conveniently located just outside the theatre) into the theatre with you, I am going to have to give this place uno star.
I honestly don’t even remember what the screen looked like, what the chairs felt like, etc. The one star is for the way the crowd behaves. Many below have mentioned how «ghetto» the cliental can be. Now, I don’t care what you look like or what you do in your spare time. As long as you don’t actually shoot me in the theatre, fine. The problem that I have is that everyone seems to talk through the film, text, LET THEIR KIDS RUN AROUND. I understand that 2 hours is a long time for your womb spawn to sit still. Therefore– DO NOT BRING IT TO A MOVIE UNLESS IT CAN BEHAVE. That is it. If it fails to behave, then you need to get your ass up and remove yourself and your little brat immediately. People did not pay $ 12 to hear your child shrieking.
The parking blows as well. The closest parking garage either will not accept the validation, or it will, but you still have to pay a portion. Something like that. It’s been a while. I learned this the hard way when I got to the ticket gate and did not have cash. I had to back my car up, re-​park, find an atm, pay the fee from the atm, walk back to my car and then finally was I allowed to be released from parking purgatory. The lot that will accept the validation is farther away and I don’t appreciate having to take a leisurely stroll through downtown LBC after midnight when my movie gets out.
I try to avoid this place if at all possible. Luckily, LBC has lots of other theatres nearby.

1) Good luck finding parking near Pine Street.
2)Try not to get shot or stabbed after you get out of you car.
3)Don’t mind the homeless sleeping in the back rows.
4)Try not to think about the sticky substance you just stepped in.
5)Crappy seats and crappy projectors to top off your experience.
I wouldn’t even go here to escape the heat on a mid-​August day. Go to Cinemark down the street– you will get more value for your dollar. I only gave it that extra star because it will probably NEVER be full. If it does happen to be full– it probably will not be a wholesome, family-​style crowd.

Please keep your children quiet. I can also do without the commentary. Thank you very much.
