1st Street Blue Line Station

Coming from the San Fernando Valley? Santa Monica? or Pasadena and need to head to Long Beach. Well, with the help of the subway and the light rail, you can come all the way to Long Beach and stop by the real last stop at 1^st Street Blue Line Station in Long Beach.
When you are coming from the Red/​Purple Line, you can board the Blue Line at 7^th/​Metro. Look for the sign on the Blue Line headed for Transit Mall Station. Don’t board the Expo Line which stops at Culver City. Do note that this station is one way, but does lead back to Los Angeles unless the train goes out of service.
The interesting part about the Blue Line is, the real last stop is 1^st Street Blue Line Station. When there is a train occupying both platforms at Transit Mall, you’ll be waiting for 7 – 10 minutes at 1^st Street Blue Line Station. Like the other Unilocalers Reviews, you can basically walk a couple blocks to Transit mall. You get a nice little walk and see downtown Long Beach.
You’ll save more time walking and get to Shoreline Village before the train finally arrives to Transit Mall Blue Line Station. Read the other reviews, you’ll see a common trend of our perspectives and it is true :)

This station is the closest point of access to the Long Beach Performing Arts Center (PAC). So for those riding the blue line to the PAC, get off here. I can’t tell you how many times I see people who stay on the train and go to the transit mall station as they watch through the window as the train turns by the Art Center. Oh well, I guess a three block extra walk is good for health !!!
For those who show early for an event, I recommend walking a block west on Broadway for a croissant and coffee at the Green House — use Unilocal check in to get a 50 percent off on small coffee coupon.

This station does not have any northbound train, just south to Long Beach transit station where the train will loop back up northbound. This station is *extremely* minimal. There’s a pay machine, a machine to tap your TAP card, a few benches and that’s about it. It’s pretty much completely outdoors except for a small amount of shade so if you are waiting for the train here, dress for the weather.

Yes, 3 stars because this is where people get on or off before turning back north on Pacific and head back to LA. If you are smart, sit in the first car and put your sunglasses on and turn up the volume on your headphones. No need to hear the drama or the bums asking for change. Wish they would have febreeze so remove any foul odors at any given time. Why can’t these idiots stay off the train? Wish they would have turnstiles so everyone has to pay! They don’t check passengers often enough for their tickets!
A huge fashion magazine or thick ass book wouldn’t hurt either. Don’t even bother flashing your iPads, or else you asking for trouble. Get ready for a crazy ride into LA. Ride at your own risk! Trust!

This is the Last stop in long beach for the blue line before it heads back to LA. From this stop there are free shuttle buses to carry you to the local attractions like the queen mary, the aquarium of the pacific and shoreline village. Also it drops you off near the long beach convention center. And at one end of pine street with its high end eateries. This also happens to be a major bus transit hub.

It’s an isle of machine, information, and human.
The Blue Line cometh frequently, often times empty (on weekends) and full of solicitors, thug nation, and characters you could only find on the Metro. Unfortunately, all the parking immediately surrounding the station are pay lots, discouraging myself from taking the Blue Line to East Los for work a few days a week. Granted I should be doing my part to reduce my personal carbon footprint on the world, financially, it just doesn’t make sense at the moment.
Anyways, this Blue Line of mystery and intrigue is well kept and great for people watching. You may find yourself managing a chuckle or shaking your head in disapproval as conversations are easily overheard. Or you may find yourself intrigued by all the landmarks and distinguishing features you’ve never seen before in LA as you pass through some of less popularized neighborhoods of LA county.
All in all, a very inexpensive (for now anyways) means of travel from LB to wherever you’re headed. If you’re within a stone’s throw of this place, hoof it and keep some change in your pocket. Otherwise, try leaving the whip at the free lots at Willow or Wardlow stations and take advantage of your tax dollars at work.
