1° Temp Home is a family owned and operated business. Key team members have decades of experience in home improvement as contractors, project managers, window and door installers, heating and cooling service technicians and installers, insulation gurus and energy auditors.

We have been serving the Chicago land market since 1998. In 2010, we made a strategic decision to focus our talents and passion around energy related products and services that can save you money and help you be more comfortable in your home or business. We are knowledgeable and certified to install and service a large variety of products related to energy in your home, and yet we are not a company that is determined to push a particular product upon you. We want to install intelligent comfort solutions that are uniquely designed for your individual situation, and some times that intelligent solution may be nothing more than installing a new thermostat, setting dampers or replacing an air filter.

My name is Ralph Denisco, Owner of 1° Temp Home. Several years ago I was very interested in reducing the energy costs of my home and to make my home more comfortable. My wife encouraged me to make this happen as we live in extreme climate of Chicago, Illinois. The winters are brutal and the summers hot, humid and unforgiving at times. We invited many contractors to our home to evaluate the situation. Some were so technical that their concepts were overly complicated. Others were very unprofessional and tried all sorts of gimmicks to get me to sign immediately without allowing me the opportunity to clearly understand the costs vs. the benefits. Bottom line, I was confused and disappointed with the process. However, I knew energy conservation was an important objective that was only going to become more critical as we used up our planet’s limited fossil fuel supply.

1 Temp Home came last Feb, 2015 for an estimate to insulate my home. 3 months later they came out to perform such job. They accidentally vented a half bath for ventilation onto my front porch which was incorrect, not in the contract, and was said to be a mistake yet could be beneficial. However there was damage done on my front porch to my soffit. When I explained to the worker this was unacceptable work his response was it was the best he could have done as he is not equip to fix. They came out replaced the two pieces of damaged soffit but the incorrect color. I was told that was the closest they could find and eventually the color fades by the sun. Damage was also done to my wall which required drywall patch work and paint retouch and my ceiling attic door had dirty hand prints all over it and nothing said until I brought it up to them. The response was they will take care of it. Last Thursday January 6^th of 2016 two men came out to «Take care of it» which was done appropriately but 8 month’s later! Today I receive an email for the payment due them and they upped my balance $ 653. I would strongly suggest not hiring this company unless your not looking for a timely, nonprofessional, honest job.

We had 1 Temp come out and spray foam a crawl space in our basement, as well as under a bay window in our kitchen, and then fully insulate our attic with R49, extra roof & exterior vents and a dome over the attic stairs. The work was great, the crew were wonderful to work with. The only issues I ever had was with the price changing when they said they couldn’t work with the perforated panels that were previously in place, and the estimated rebate amount was not met, so we had to pay the balance on that (though our before & after home tests were great I was told, never did get any documentation about this, asked a few times). Billing was a bit slow to get back to me and finalize amounts due and payments, but everyone was always courteous and it was a busy time for them I’m sure. I would use them again for insulation needs.

Matt Ward is one of the most hard working people in the HVAC business. He tirelessly worked on getting a stubborn hidden damper open to my bedroom which has made a remarkable difference on our comfort. Matt’s a consummate professional and loves solving problems — I’m glad he solved mine! I have the company coming over this week to install insulation to even further help make my home more comfortable.

One week after having my main house central AC Unit cleaned (different central AC Unit than last year’s review) by a local HVAC company the unit stopped working. I called the HVAC company back and they told me I needed my capacitor replaced and they quoted $ 457.00. I quickly googled this type of repair and found an HVAC blog that discussed a much lower cost to have this part replaced (which included labor). I called the company I trust to not only do a professional job but charge a fair price, 1 Temp Home. Matt Ward came to my rescue even though the company is outsourcing most of its HVAC business due to their focused expansion on energy audits and solutions. Matt came out on a late Friday afternoon at the beginning of the Memorial Day Weekend even though he had a brutal drive home (Oswego to a far southeast suburb). Not only did Matt replace the capacitor and some fried wires (not mentioned by the other company) he took time to check the unit and clean out all the leaves the company I paid to service and clean the unit left behind. The charge, $ 158.00. I can’t praise this company enough for the work they do. Not because of the significantly lower cost — which is an added bonus — but because of their superior and consistent customer service combined with their expansive expertise. They truly care about providing their customers with exceptional value. Thank you Matt and the entire 1 Temp Home Team! You are the best!

They guys at Our Home Energy are rock stars! They sold me a great unit, which is now five years old and still working beautifully. Not only that, when I have had to call for service, they have come out the next day. I highly recommend their yearly service contract. As well as two services a year, it includes great deals when things like your old thermostat start to go crazy.
They treat you like family. You don’t get a better recommendation than that from this reviewer.

I’ve had these guys out a couple times last winter and this spring, for various furnace and A/C issue. The first visit, they replaced the thermocouple. It went bad a month later and they cam out and fixed it again, no charge. My A/C starting screaming so I called them. They came out but couldn’t duplicate the sound, so they didn’t charge me. 2 days later it started screaming again and they came back out. Once again, couldn’t duplicate, and they didn’t charge. I like this kind of service.
Decided to replace the whole system (it was 25 years old). From initial quote to install was 4 business days. I like that kind of quick turnaround. I needed the financing they have available, which is pretty reasonable.
My only complaint was the smoking by the install techs. I had the windows and doors open while they installed, and they smoked outside, but not far enough from my house to my liking, so the smoke blew in. This in no way reflect the quality of their work or their professional manner. Some people may not even care. But it bugged me.
I highly recommend these guys. They charge when they need to, and have very reasonable pricing.

Our Home Energy assessed my home’s insulation, explained the problems to me, and did a fantastic job insulating my home. The team was knowledgable and friendly. The use of a thermal camera really showed me where the problems were and backed up the assessment. My attic was sealed, problem areas were foamed, air vents were fixed, and insulation added.
I’m very satisfied!
