Presto Auto Glass & Windshield Repair

I called for a quote on Thursday ¹⁄₁₄. After deciding that Presto had the best deal, I called to make an appointment, but I got the whole, «We are receiving a large volume of calls leave a message deal.» So I left a message and I don’t hear back from them. I call the next day, then three hours later. Nothing. I make a message to get a quote again to see if that works. It worked that time. I was scheduled 10 — 12 for Saturday.
Saturday rolls around, I get a text message. Not a phone call. A text message from Presto saying that they had to reschedule the windshield replacement for Monday. I say, okay, let’s do 9 — 11, I don’t really want to waste my whole day waiting around. They said okay and was told I’d get a 20 dollar discount for the inconvenience.
Monday rolls around, I get a call from Alex saying that the manufacturer won’t have the windshields until 2 instead of 10 — 12 and asked if that was okay. I said no, because I didn’t want to waste my whole day and that my appointment was 9 — 11. He said okay and they would just go to a different manufacturer.
Vincent, the tech, calls me up at 10:29 telling me that he won’t be here from 10 — 12, but actually 1. I tell him that my appointment was supposed to be from 9 — 11. I understand he just repairs and replaces so I say I’ll call up the office.
I find the number I got a call from Alex this morning. He answers, «Hello?» and then I ask if this is the right number and he says yes. I tell him what’s up and then he says that he doesn’t know what’s going on because this is his personal number. I tell him that I just called back the number that called me earlier this morning. He says he never called me. He says he’ll call the office and hangs up on me.
I call the 1 – 888 number and get the leave a message prompt again. I call again and hit zero and I get someone and they said that that there was nothing they could do. I just canceled the appointment.

So I have to start by saying the whole chip repair thing caught me by surprise in that I never knew there was such a thing… so I started reading up on it and they say your little chip will turn into a big crack which will require new windshield. Well, I had just replaced a windshield and three days lated got dinged by a pebble. A few weeks before the other car was dinged. So here I am with two cars with chipped windshields so I called Presto. They seemed a bit overanxious to schedule the job and get it done but that seemed like an OK thing. No one says on the phone that sometimes they end up making the little chip into a big crack and too bad. When the guy shows up he doesn’t show me anything or have me sign anything or give me a written estimate. I’m just going with what I established with the guy on the phone– a $ 10 discount for having two done at once. So he manages to fix one «successfully» (how do I know it worked?) but it certainly doesn’t look any better. On the other car the fix was «unsuccessful», leaving a six-​inch crack (it had been a really tiny chip). He told me «Sorry, you’ll have to replace the whole windshield now, it didn’t work», they’ll «credit» you what you pay on the chip repair if you replace the windshield. Didn’t they tell you it doesn’t always work? It’s on their website.” So NO, they didn’t tell me any such thing. So in the end we refused to pay anything and he told me he was in a big hurry to go so, «so and so will call you later». I’m still waiting for the call. The response they’ll get from me of course is «see you in small claims.» End note, if you scroll down to the bottom of their webpage and click on terms and conditions, it explains that in «rare cases» the fix just makes it work. I like the idea from another Unilocaler about getting the $ 10 repair kit from Walmart. This whole business is a SCAM.

I had an excellent experience with presto windshield repair. I called at 8 AM they had someone out to my house by 9:15 AM was done with the repair in 15 minutes. excellent quality work with the excellent customer service.

I had a really nice experience with Presto all the way around. Really nice technician. I was really impressed by his professionalism and demeanor He showed up during the 2 hour window frame and was ready to work! I watched as he was doing the job, he didn’t mind at all. He was friendly and informative. I was quoted 65.00 dollars for a quarter size chip on my windshield and that’s exactly what I paid .No hidden costs! this included mobile service right to my front door. I was going to go with Safelite auto glass because I see more advertisement on them but they quoted me 120.00 to 160.00 for the same job Presto did. Glad I listened to my instinct!

I mean… this was a strange experience. Not too bad, not terrific either. I perused around for awhile for the best price for auto glass. Presto quoted me the best price ($ 189) for a Toyota Highlander, unheated.
So a few things:
–I scheduled yesterday, they gave me a time same day at work, cool. BUT then the guy calls back at the main shop 30 minutes after my scheduled window of time stating that they had been «calling the Toyota glass shop trying to get a piece of glass, but all the glass was scratched.» …oooook. You couldn’t of let me know earlier? No big deal. Just kinda sucked.
–Today rolls around and the period of time is slowly closing, it was from 11 – 1 (lunch time) and I don’t receive any calls by 12:50 pm, so I decide to just say screw it and go to grab a bite. They then call me around 1:30 pm (not the front desk, but a contracted company) and ask where I am… ooook, you’re late, but luckily I was close by work so I just went back.
–The guy is there (unmarked white van… a little creepy), but he is ready– tells me to leave my car unlocked, it will take 30 minutes. And it did! it was fast and I checked it out– he did a good job (to my untrained eyes).
–Pay up time comes– and I was quoted 189 plus tax. He says $ 190 plus tax. Then with everything it’s $ 199. Alright. So he swipes my card, and I sign for $ 200. I mean, 2 dollars is not a big deal, I’m not about to argue over that, but it’s nice to be consistent in your prices instead of bouncing around.
Overall– mixed.
EDIT: MY FREAKING REARVIEW MIRROR FELL OFF A DAY LATER! I simply adjusted it after my husband had driven. I called the autoglass place and they didn’t have any one who could come look at it until Monday, when it was a Friday! Got my husband to fix it… what a mess. BE CAREFUL. What an overall rip off.

Left two messages, got «we are experiencing unusual high call volume, please leave a message and someone will call you back shortly»…yadayadya…
No one called me that day nor the day after.

I owed these guys a review a few months ago. I originally scheduled my appointment in Livermore, but they were too busy that day and called and apologized and needed to reschedule. I work in the Concord area and because they were not able to make the appointment in Livermore the day before, they travelled to Concord during my work day to replace my cracked windshield for me. They did an excellent job. It did not take long and they did not charge me extra to go to my workplace. I would highly recommend them.

I work in San Ramon and drive on the nasty 580 stretch to get there. There are tons of big rigs and out of all days, a big rock struck my windshield from behind a truck.
I had to get to work because I was running late for a meeting. I shopped around and came across Presto Auto Glass and decided to give them a call.
The price was right and they were able to accommodate me within the day. They replaced my windshield (crack was pretty big) and it looks good as new.
I’ve had my windshield replaced in the past and always seem to have air gaps afterwards, but no problems so far. Thanks for great service.

After calling 4 other windshield replacement businesses I settled on Presto (Livermore) for a few reasons.
1. Good reviews on Unilocal.yes these can help your business alot.
2. Local company meaning keeping my $$ in my town.3.
3. price quote was great not too high and yet not too low (cheap glass)
George came out and did my glass in my driveway. He was fast, efficient and so far the windshield is quiet and doing fine.
Nicely done. and like I promised a good review on Unilocal if job well done.

Bottom line, they replaced my windshield quickly and for the price they quoted.
However, they’re just a little «slippery». When I called at about 11am and asked for a quote, the guy gave me a number and said they could do the work between 1 and 2. Having been through this before, I asked «does that include the molding?» His answer was «the quote includes any molding you’ll need». I shopped around and called back about 15 min later and said «let’s do it.» The guy said, «OK, he’ll be there between 1 and 3.» I said «wait a minute, I thought you said between 1 and 2.» He said, «oh, he’ll probably be there between 1 and 2, but he might be just a bit later.» At 2:59:59 as I was picking up the phone to tell him to cancel, the tech rolled up; he made it JUST under the wire time-​wise. Then he handed me a sheet of paperwork with the quoted price, but with a line specifically stating that the price did not include any molding. I almost sent him away, but he looked at my car and said the old molding was OK. So, it was done for the price quoted.
The technician was great. He worked quickly and did a nice job. I’d ask him back any day.
But when there’s a lot of competition out there, I’ll probably avoid this place next time and see if there isn’t a more «solid» place out there.

Had my windshield chips with tiny cracks repaired. Presto sent a sub-​contractor to come do the job. They did a bad job on one of the spot and the resin got to the middle plastic layer (they fix it by drilling a tiny hole at the lesion then instill the resin but obviously that hole was a little too deep) of the windshield and that made it look like there is a lucky clover at that spot. I don’t want them to touch my car (and it’s a new car) any more. I will wait for a year or so in case getting more chips and cracks and replace the whole windshield (a company in Pleasanton and not Presto for sure).
The other day I bought the DIY windshield repair kit (the one that came with a syringe) from Walmart and I was able to repair a new chip (this Bay Area has a lot of rocks and stones on the freeway plus those construction trucks on the road are not helping neither) with small cracks that I got. I was able to repair it. That kit costed me only $ 10. Don’t waste money on getting people to repair the chips (costing $ 60 for the first chip/​crack repair and $ 10 each for the other ones).

Why do bad things always happen on a holiday? Pet gets sick, pipes get clogged, and sudden rain storms turn trees into wrecking balls. This time it was a broken windshield. Of course no one was available, but maybe that was a good thing, or we would have paid holiday prices.
We contacted Presto and they said they could come out the next day to replace the window at a relatively low cost. I did have a couple of issues with the following:
1. Said they would call at 9:30 and give a window of arrival: No Phone Call
2. I called them at 11:00 to find out if in fact they still had the appt: Told at that time to expect the guy there between 12:00 and 1:30
3. I called them again at 3:45 and asked again if they still had the appt: Told at that time we had been moved to the bottom of the list because we said the car would be available until 6:30. So my daughter didn’t go to lunch all day because she was kept waiting all day. Finally at 4:30 the guy got there to fix the window.
Aside from these minor inconveniences the window was fixed and the price quoted is what we were charged. I would definitely use them again but actually hoping I never have to speak to them again if you know what I mean. As a side note, there are two Presto’s, one in Dublin, and one in Livermore. Both have the same phone number so I am not positive which one did the job so both are getting the review.

Called them for a quote. Called a few other places and prices were either comparable or more expensive than here. I asked when they could come out to replace my windshield and he said the next day. (I called around 4pm) He gave me a two hour window on when they would arrive.
They showed up right at the beginning of the two hour window (called me 15 minutes before showing up). The only thing that was a little annoying was that the guy asked if the person on the phone mentioned that there would be an extra $ 30 charge for new molding around the windshield. He said they could try to preserve the existing molding, but it might not look as good as it looks now, unless you got new molding. I said to go ahead and replace the molding.
At the end of the one hour job, the guy said they were able to preserve the old molding and didn’t charge me the extra $ 30. I don’t think I would’ve been able to tell the difference if he had put new molding in. Bravo!

We called Presto Auto Glass and they were able to come out the next day. They were completely professional, knowledgeable and super efficient. The guys came the next day at the appointed time and had the windshield put in very quickly. I would use them again in a second and will recommend them to anyone who asks me.

This place is fast and provides superior service. I don’t usually write reviews but decided to write one after the excellent experience i had from this place. I had my window replaced on my commuter the same day i called to get a quote.
Also, they were able repair a small crack on my second car (Infiniti G35). These guys were able to repair the windshield without replacing the whole thing which saved me ALOOOT of money! I love their Mobile service when they come to you… nothing beats that!
If you want affordable cheap auto glass replacement or repair this place is the place to go. After calling 4 different places Presto was not only the lowest price but was able to schedule me in to do same day! FIVE STARS!

I would love to give them a real review, but can’t. Just got off the phone with them asking about repacing a full windshield and didn’t end up going with them because he was trying to upsell me the whole time!
He originally quoted me $ 220something and I said it was odd because other places were quoting me around $ 170… he said he COULD offer me another for $ 160 but «it’s cheap because it was made in China,» and that I might «hear it on the freeway; it’d be loud.» I asked if it was fully attached how could it be loud… To which there was no real response.
Basically he let me go, he’d only sell me the expensive one, so I went elsewhere. Their loss. They couldve made $ 160, instead they made 0.
