D&M Auto Salon

Well, I was going to get my HID’s installed here because my friends told me they provide some good service. I called on 8÷25÷2014 in the morning because I had placed an order for some HIDs on i believe Wednesday the 20^th. Mike told me about 2 – 3 days so I called on Monday because I figured that 2 – 3 days had gone by and I’d call, I just wanted an update. I go to school in SoCal and I was going back on Friday so I really wanted the HID’s done
So I called that Wednesday and there was no answer. And I honestly thought that maybe no one was running the front. so I called back about 15 times spaced 5 – 10 minutes apart but there was no answer. I wasn’t angry or anything I just thought something could have been wrong since I have anxiety issues and that what we ALWAYS think. When the last call went to voicemail the voicemail redirected me to a different number so I thought I’d give that number a try.
Bad move, someone answered my phone call and that was the last straw for him, he asked «what do you want» so i just asked about the HID’s and then he cut me off and asked if I was the guy calling him «15 million times» and I answered yes to which he kept yelling AGGRESSIVELY telling me to never call him that many times again and that I have no right to do so. Also commented on «if I didnt call you then doesnt I dont have your stuff» I quietly apologized and he hung up. When I mean aggressive I mean like he was about to punch me angry. I work as a receptionist myself and I guess I was in the wrong for calling an annoying amount of times but I would never berate a customer. I also would have tried to explain that I didn’t have what they wanted and reassured them they’d receive a call back if I was busy.
I’m not mad I guess were both at fault? but i can honestly say my feelings are really hurt.
Just to be clear I did not get work done here so my review does not reflect that (I’m sure he does good work), this is just a review on a hurtful customer service experience I had.

I came to this shop to get my Mercedes E350 serviced because I was hoping I would get a good deal as the Mercedes dealership is quite expensive. First of all, Mike knows nothing about Mercedes and secondly, he was going to charge me more than the Mercedes dealership! At least the Mercedes dealership knows what they are doing! I’ve never been to a shop that has hidden fees… I would recommend you steer clear of this shop but if you still go, do your research and make sure you are not being overcharged!

The previous shop I had the car at pulled the motor, put all the bolts in a broken cardboard box, broke a few parts and then gave it back to me saying they «forgot how to put it all back together.» So now here I am with a broken motor, completely out of the car and zero knowledge of how to put humpty dumpty back together. Looking at all of D&M’s reviews on here I figured I was looking at the right shop for this project.
In the first week of June 2013 I went to D&M to see if they could take on my car. I explained to Mike every detail I possibly could about the size and complexity of the project. I wasn’t kidding when I said every bolt that was taken off the car and motor went into a broken cardboard box. We agreed on a stock rebuild of the motor and he would piece the whole car back together and have it running and ready in approx. 5 weeks. He quoted me 2 – 3 weeks for the engine to get rebuilt and 1 – 2 weeks for him to install it in the car. What follows is a list of events stating how my car was never touched for the 9 months Mike had it
7÷28÷2013 Dropped the car off to find the motor still in the exact same spot I left it
8÷22÷2013− Started calling every day trying to get a status update of the car
8÷30÷2013 Showed up at D&M to find the motor STILL IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT
9÷19÷2013 Finally got a hold of Mike and was able to put down half deposit
car was promised by October 1^st.
10÷2÷2013 Started calling every day for another status update
11/​14/​2013 Finally got a hold of Mike, he stated in a week or two he would be picking up the motor and I would have the car a few days after that.
1÷30÷2014 After months of constant calling and dropping by the shop I finally left a voicemail threating legal action and I would be pulling the car. I received a
voicemail shortly after stating that he would be picking up the motor today and I would be driving the car by Friday February 7^th
2÷8÷2014 Started calling every day again
3÷2÷2014 Left a voice mail stating I’m pulling the car tomorrow and legal action will ensue if I cant
3÷3÷2014 Rented a trailer and waited 2 hours at the shop, Mike never showed
3÷7÷2014 Had a friend call D&M, Mike picked up on the 2^nd ring. I pulled around the corner and refused to leave without my car and motor. He didn’t have the motor, it was still at the machine shop.
I received more lies, questions about why I was pulling the project and I was even accused of lying about the day I dropped the motor off. Come to find out, the machine shop had completed their end of the work not 4 days after they received my engine. Mike never paid them, and they were about to sell my engine to recoup some of their cost. Mike drove to the machine shop, stating that he was dropping off a car and he would be back in a few minutes, and paid the bill. When asked why he never paid them, I was accused of lying again about the info received from the machine shop. So now here I sit with a completed engine, but not in the car. I was nothing but professional and respectful through the entire process and I received the exact opposite from Mike. I will never take another car here, and see to it every person I know knows about Mikes work ethics. I have complaints open through the B.A.R, the B.B.B and the Livermoore Chamber of Commerce. I’m still in shock over how this shop treated a customer who was willing to give them $ 1500 to have a motor installed. Stay away from D&M

For a good amount of time I worked for a retail parts store in the vicinity as a parts runner, This shop was on our commercial list. Although they didn’t order much stuff in comparison to their «competitors» I always found it a delight to deliver to this place because they always had interesting cars parked out front like a LS1 RX7 project, very clean evo 9, SRT4, track prepped IS300’s, GTI on bags etc… and Mike was always a really nice respectful guy and didn’t act like a know it all dick like most other shops on my route.
Because I wasn’t viewed as a customer when I was delivering parts I got to know some mechanics around that area quite well and would not trust them with a beater car… When it comes to my baby (Tacoma X-​Runner) I like to see what exactly is going on with her as people are fiddling under the hood. Routine oil changes, «professional» detailing etc… I am right there staring the people down as they touch her because… I know a lot of mechanics see it as just a job and will get it done with nothing more and can even be careless.
That is where I prefer this place, Those cars sitting out front are a clear indication that these are car enthusiasts. Being a mechanic isn’t just their job, It’s also their hobby and passion. They know what they are doing and will find joy, pride and satisfaction in it being done right. Regardless it be a simple oil change to a entire engine swap… They will take care of your vehicle far better then you yourself will. I had no regret or concern when I left them my beloved truck for 4 hours, Instead of nervously watching from the sidelines like I always do with this truck. I walked down the street to my families business and carried on about my day without a 2^nd thought.
This is probably the only shop I will recommend to my friends and family in a heart beat… Mike and his crew are extremely knowledgeable and professional, The shop and office is clean with comforting decorations such as trophies, pictures of their track cars doing their thing and little figure people thingies made out of pistons… Not to mention the price, They have very reasonable rates and are actually extremely competitive with everyone elses going rates… The amount of time and work done to my truck, Was $ 120 less than I was expecting to pay and the welds they did on my headers are perfect and leak free.
This place is truly a diamond in a rough in the sense that there are 3 other shops in the same lot, and then 5 more on the other side of the paint store… Out of the hundreds of shops I delivered parts to in Livermore, Dublin, Pleasanton and Tracy… I chose this one and recommend you (the reader) do to.

Took my car in today to get serviced. Super smooth experience. The owner MIke explained to me what needed to get done and why. His shop is very clean and well organized. I recommend his shop to anyone who needs repair work. He has expertise in all makes and models of vehicles. Forget going to the dealership to have work done, visit D&M Auto Salon. You will not be disappointed. Thanks for the great work!

I had an appointment to get my car worked on at 1 pm. I was running late and at 1:10 I got a phone call asking if I was still coming. I arrived at 1:15 and was surprised to see my spot was held for me even though I was late. When I pulled up, a very attractive large mountain man waved me into his garage. Once in, I got out of my car and he pulled the pipe out of my trunk. He then proceeded to put my car on the lift and raise it up. I watched as he sprayed lube on my down pipe and then proceeded to get the nuts off. I watched as the tall mountain man, better known as Mikey B, proceeded to work my new pipe to fit my existing exhaust. Once that was finished, he lowered my car and put his hands on my engine. This was a much tighter squeeze for a man with such large hands, but he made that fit as well with a little wiggling.
All in all. Great service. i will never trust my car to anyone else. Love ya Mike!

I took my out of warranty Infiniti FX35 to D&M to get some maintenance done before I took a road trip down to LA. I had a list of things for him to complete and it was done in less than 3 hours. I’m talking brake pads all around, fluid flushes, and belts replaced. Mike is a knowledgeable stand up guy who knows what he is doing. 5 stars for reasonable pricing and going out of his way to drop me off to my home instead of waiting around, definitely something you do not expect from an auto repair shop!
