Atom Appliance

I have not used this company for appliance repair yet. I was referred to them by the company who came out to clean our home’s dryer vent. After having the cleaning, it turned out the issue was with our dryer. So the cleaning company referred us to Atom’s.
I called them and explained the problem and asked for someone to come out and check out our dryer. The man on the phone explained they are booked through February 3^rd. I need it fixed or replaced sooner so I told him I will probably call around and call back if I didn’t find anything sooner elsewhere.
He really went the extra mile when he referred me to another company that he thought might be able to come out sooner. I called the other company and a man is coming out tomorrow morning.
I really appreciate that extra step that was taken and it showed me that they really just genuinely care about their customers. I will definitely recommend Atom’s to others and call them again for future needs! I appreciate good, honest business!

We have purchased all and a variety of appliances from Atom Appliance since 1965.
We keep going back as we know we can trust their knowledge of the appliances. We have never been disappointed or unhappy with our appliance purchases, their prices are the best, plus free delivery and take away. We have always experienced excellent and courteous service. We have had emergencies, the most recent being a freezer failure. Dave and Joe were very helpful. Dave suggested we purchase dry ice to save our food. Dave delivered a freezer as soon as possible. We are so grateful for their excellent assistance and service throughout the years! Atom Appliance and everyone they employ are the best!

The best appliance store in Livermore.
We needed a new oven, dishwasher and exhaust fan for a rental house in Livermore. Not wanting to buy from a big box store we visited three nearby appliance stores. The salesmen at Atom had a much more comprehensive knowledge of the products. We purchased a Kitchen Aid combo oven and microwave, a Bosch dishwasher and a Zephyr exhaust fan. Thanks to the salesmen at Atom we feel we made the right choice. The sales people at the other stores didn’t seem to understand the features and benefits of each of the products. It seemed to me the other stores were just pushing the appliances with the highest margins.
Since Atom gave us the best advice in picking the appliances that best fit our needs we wanted to buy from them. Their quotes were slightly higher than the other two stores but when I gave them the competitive bids they came very close to matching them.
Installation went smoothly. The fact that Atom employs their own service people assured me that any issues that arise will be handled promptly and effectively. This is especially important because we will have tenants living in the house.
I like to shop locally. Atom Appliance has been in Livermore for decades.

These guys are awesome. My washer broke last week and i called them to come see if they could fix it. The gentlemen named bob told my family and i that it would cost just about the same amount of money to buy a new one then to have the old one repaired. So we deiced to just go a head a buy a new washer. They delivered it to my home on Saturday and i will say the two men who came out were great! They even measured for a new refrigerator that we plan on getting down the road. Will recommended them to anyone and everyone!!!

Had a wonderful experience purchasing a new washer dryer set. Dave was knowledgable and took the time to answer all of my questions. Got a great deal that beat the local competitors I called as well! But even more important was the delivery. The guys were so careful! They protected my floors and walls and although I always expect there to be at least one dent or scratch… There were none! Will be a repeat customer!

This is the best appliance store. I had such a good experience when I bought my dishwasher that I also purchased my washer and dryer from Atom Appliance. John took time to educate me on my options, so I could get the most bang for my buck. Dave was so patient and friendly as he was helping me with the financing. I got 12 months no interest financing. They delivered and installed the new washer and dryer the same day I purchased them. I also appreciated that everyone was so sensitive to my needs as a visually impaired person. The installer, Joe, was so helpful to show me how to care for and operate the new appliances. I will go to this store for all my new appliances and repair needs.

Update 14 April 2 015
I called GE this morning and they immediately offered me store credit, that is, a credit (rebate) certificate for the purchase of any GE appliance at any store that sells GE appliances. The GE representative used Walmart as an example of a store that sells GE appliances.
I thought for a moment and realized that this is what I expected Atom Appliance to do. I have a friend who owns a HiFi store and when a customer’s product fails, or does not meet the customer’s need, or does not satisfy the customer, he offers the customer store credit. Which is what GE immediately did when I called. And so, if they told me this, it means Joseph at Atom Appliance knew that GE offers this. Why did he not tell me or offer me store credit when it was well within his means?
There is still something left hanging. GE credits the cost of the appliance and not the CA sales tax. It makes no sense for Atom Appliance to send sales tax to CA for no purchase. Will they just keep it? I will leave this to the integrity and character of Atom Appliance and its employees.
I will NOT do business with Atom Appliance again and I highly suggest that you do NOT as well.

Something has happened to Atom Appliance in Livermore CA these past several years. We have purchased refrigerators (many years ago) and were reasonably satisfied.
But recently, we had a very negative experience with Atom Appliance. My wife went in to buy a basic table-​top microwave and was sold a unit that fell apart within two months, a unit that you might buy at a discount store but spent twice the price at Atom Appliance.
We called Atom to get advise and they arranged for a professional GE repairman to come to our house to fix the unit. The repairman was confused, as he said, they do not repair disposable units, for the cost to repair is more than the original cost of the unit. In spite of this, he examined the unit and concluded the circuit board is bad. He suggested we return the unit to the place of purchase. To the credit of GE, he did not charge us for the visit.
It would seem Atom no longer does repair and has become a middleman.
We returned the unit to Atom Appliance and asked for our money back. We spoke with Joseph who said he would contact GE. Joseph is offering us a replacement unit, but given the low quality of the original unit, I do not trust the replacement and will not accept delivery.
Atom Appliance used to offer a satisfaction guarantee. It would seem they no longer do.
Given our experience with Atom Appliance, we would have been far better served by buying the basic countertop micro-​wave from Amazon, or any discount retailer and having the same warranty support from the manufacturer (GE). There is no advantage to paying the extra cost of a sales person like Joseph at Atom Appliance. Furthermore, given that Amazon and others now offer contracts to local servicemen for installation and repair, I highly suspect that the Atom Appliance business model will soon die.
This bothers me, for there remains a need for competent sale representatives to proactively listen to the customer and understand their needs and then guide them to the right product. This did not happen with Atom Appliance and you should not expect this with Atom Appliance either. They are about something else.
I highly recommend that you do NOT do business with Atom Appliance.

I have bought over a dozen appliances from atom in the past 20 years and had them come out and do some appliance repair and have never had a bad experience, sure there is the big box stores and stores that have a bigger selection but they have no problem selling a known lemon. Atom employees are knowledgable on their products and honest and I like supporting a local mom and pop business.

Horrible customer service. They treated my husband like crap when he came in asking some questions after already spending $ 250 on parts to fix our washer/​dryer. Just curious about different kinds of plugs for washer/​dryers and was told «why should I help you? Are you going to buy from me?» After he had already explained that their brand new washer/​dryers were out of our price range. If you’d like to be treated like a human being with feelings I’d go anywhere else.

Made gas dryer repair 10÷9÷2014. Showed up on time, diagnosed problem quickly, made repair quickly. Price appeared reasonable.

Appliance repair call ! Have a Maytag. H2O French door bottom freezer !!! My problem? Slow flow from the water dispenser !! The fix apparently !!! The water valve !!! Had them replace the water fill assembly while we were breaking it down to that level! so we did no freeze in water holding unit so must have been servo in water valve !! Just happy to have water back full blast !!! 348 for service call water valve and water holding unit which comes with new filter assembly all and all very good customer device as u have come to expect from Dave at atom appliance !!!

I have purchased a used washer/​dryer set and a few years later a brand new washing machine (old used dryer still working great!)
The guys at Atom Appliance are straight shooters who never pressure a sale. They are practical in their approach to product suggestions. There delivery guys are prompt and helpful.
This local business is a class act all around and their prices often are better than Lowes or Home Depot.
I will go back there again when a new appliance is needed.

I contacted them regarding a washer repair. I was surprised to hear that they charge $ 65 dollars for the diagnosis but that doesn’t go toward the cost of repair. So, they charge $ 65 dollars to then tell you how much they’re going to charge you. I expressed my dissatisfaction with that policy and was told they’d been doing that for 30 years and every other appliance repair place probably did the same. Actually, no other appliance repair place I’ve contacted has that policy. The norm for all repairs is that the estimate fee goes toward the repair. If you choose not to get the repair done, then it is reasonable to pay the visit fee. I ended up just contacting Sears and was given a $ 75 dollar visit fee — which is applied to the cost of the repair — as it should be. I will not be using Atom Appliance for any services.

I had a problem in an older home with needing a fan to go over the stove. The only problem was, the stove top is close to the cupboard bottoms, to narrow to put in a standard hood type fan. At Atom Appliance, they were able to solve the problem in minutes, because they know what’s available. The solution was a pull out glass, with a fan that turns on as I pull out this lovely glass in frame slide. It’s totally functional and gave the kitchen an upscale look besides. I appreciated their knowledgable solution. It’s been in use for 1 year now and I just love it!

Husband called to say our refrigerator is dying… and I’m out of town. Rather than have him go to the local retail outlet and get whatever they have in stock, I insist on doing some research. Found the refrigerator I want, and after calling several retail locations near my house, was having no luck finding one in stock.
I found Atom on the manufacturer’s ‘where to buy’ page and talked to a really, really nice guy (Dave) who was kind enough to give me some additional information besides «we don’t have it in stock.» Even took the time to make sure I was purchasing the correct size for my kitchen — because this is a monster of a refrigerator.
Dave explains that he can get the fridge in a couple of days and then deliver it to my house within 24 hours after they receive it. Oh, and free delivery/​haul away — and a better price than the other places I’ve called.
Dave also suggested that I buy some dry ice to hold my food until then. Since my refrigerator isn’t completely dead — I think that will work just fine. (Can’t believe I didn’t think of that myself.) But because I’m traveling and pretty stressed out — guess you can’t be expected to think of everything.
So, double major crisis avoided. (Spoiled food AND letting the husband pick out a major kitchen appliance!!!) New fridge is on its way and talking to Dave was a pleasant, dare I say calming, experience.
I plan on replacing my current oven within the next 6 months — and you can bet I’ll be giving Atom Appliance a call!!! Thanks again Dave!

We have purchased several refrigerators over the years, washer, dryer, two dishwashers (remodeled kitchen), anything they sell, we would purchase from them.
They stand behind what they sell, and service it well. If they give an extended warrenty, they will stand behind it. If they sell an item with a dent and promise to fix it before delivery, they do. Their pirces are excellent. We would rather support a local business than a big box store and have the money leave town. A few dollars, fi that, is not worth ruining our downtown business area. My parents got the fridge there. They were very helpful. A good while later while the fridge was under warranty there was a problem with the ice making ability and it was the company who made the fridge who were supposed to replace it but they had dragged their feet so long that the warranty had expired while they were waiting for repair or replacement. And let me make this clear it was the manufactures responsibility to fix the issue. My parents told Atom Appliance what was going on and Atom Appliance went out of their way to contact the manufacture and get the problem fixed. With out Atom Appliance my parents would likely still have a broken fridge but Atom Appliance made it happen and helped my parents even when they were under no obligation to. They are a wonderful company and we plan on purchasing from them again in the future.

Let me add my voice to those that are singing the praises of Atom Appliance! We’ve used them for years and have found them to be reliable, affordable, honest and knowledgable of all the new technology being built into appliances these days.
If you want the best, call Atom.

When you are a mom of two little boys who are constantly soiling clothes, sheets, towels, etc., you use your washer and dryer A LOT. Last week I was in the midst of a laundering frenzy when all of a sudden my dryer stopped working. As a lifelong Livermore resident, I immediately knew to call Atom Appliance. They are an institution.
Since I will be moving in a few months, the last thing I wanted to do was buy a new dryer. When the tech came over, he determined that a wire burned up and disconnected the power. $ 180 later (which seemed like nothing comparatively) my dryer was as good as new. Hooray!

We bought our french door refrigerator here when we bought our new house.
The salesman was very knowledgeable on his products and sold us on a great fridge. We had gone in on a Sunday, so they had to wait until Monday to put in the order to the Manufacturer and when they did they found out that the particular model was going to be out of stock for a period of time longer than we wanted to wait, so they said they could upgrade to another fridge for about $ 100.00 more. We agreed.
When it came to the night before the fridge was supposed to be delivered, and our move-​in date on the house they called and told us that when they opened the box to check the fridge before delivery, it appeared to have been dropped because it was completely shattered looking on the inside and when they called to re-​order once again, the Manufacturer claimed they would not have that fridge in for another extended period of time.
We ended up getting a majorly upgraded fridge for the cost of the original fridge we had started with in our initial purchase. Great product, FANTASTIC price, and Atom Appliance came and brought us a loaner fridge until ours could be sent.
They went through hoops for us and we plan to continue to do business with them.
