Enrolling children 6 weeks — 12 years old, Quala Care is a safe, nurturing environment where your child will get the personal attention and loving care that he or she needs. Educationally, our goal is to help each child develop a strong sense of self-​worth and to stimulate his or her natural desire and ability to learn. Our program encourages exploration, questioning, and choices within limits in order for your child to learn more about his/​her world. Our curriculum is designed to enhance the emotional, social, physical, and intellectual growth of the whole child.

Our owners, managers, and many staff members are members of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) as well as the Maryland State Child Care Association (MSCCA).

We encourage communication between our parents, our staff, and the administration. You are always welcome at the center and it is through this active partnership that we can provide a great beginning for the children!

History

Established in 1990.

Quala Care Child Center, Inc. has been serving families in the Baltimore-​Washington area since 1990. The owners, Janet Harrington and Debbie de la Garza, are former school teachers and honors graduates from their respective colleges. When looking for child care for their own children, Janet and Debbie couldn’t find a warm and nurturing center where they would be happy leaving their babies. So they decided to found Quala Care and have now been caring for the community’s children for over 20 years. Our Assistant Director, Deb Kamplain, has been with the center since we opened in 1990 and is also on the Board of Directors of the Maryland State Child Care Association. This personal dedication establishes and maintains the quality care that will enhance the emotional, social, physical, and intellectual growth of each child.

Business Owner

Janet Harrington graduated with honors from the University of Scranton with a Bachelor’s in Education. While working in the corporate world for several years, Janet dreamed of creating a center that would nourish children from infancy. She’s always known how very important the first years are in a child’s development and deeply believes that creating a strong foundation in those first years enables children to recognize their full potential as strong, healthy adults. Janet personally designed the building as well as each of the weekly curriculum themes.
