Homewood Suites By Hilton

It’s hard to review a hotel being renovated and typically I’d be furious that I booked 3 months ago and was not notified of the renovation BUT I was in a brand new room that was so comfortable. But what really made the stay was the amazing staff! This hotel picked the best people! From check in to house cleaning to shuttle driver! Outstanding people!!!

I’ve been a Hilton Honors member for many years. I’m in the process of relocating to the area and we chose the BWI location being close to the airport and in-​between Baltimore and Washington, DC. I was surprised and a little taken aback that the hotel was not updated at all. We’ve been to many Homewood Suites over the years and decided to call the front desk to inquire if there were any updated rooms available. The front desk staff kindly advised all the rooms were the same. Although we just checked in, we decided to let the minor details of an updated room not spoil our weekend, hoping the brand would speak for itself. Indeed it did. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable as usual and we didn’t have to ask for anything extra because it was already in place.
First, I must say, Jasmine was our first point of contact. As I walked down the following morning, she asked if we had a good night in spite of… (my remark about updating– I felt like such a hotel snob!) We both snickered, then laughed. We had a lovely conversation where she explained the hotel will soon undergo renovation. I explained we were just in shock but were truly enjoying our stay. She was incredibly charming, warm, professional, and friendly and truly made sure we were pleased with all aspects of our stay. Thankfully, she was working our departure day, because I made ensured her how pleased we were and because of their commitment to the customers and brand, I’d make sure to mention her name specifically. Every interaction was very pleasant and I’ve already re-​booked our trip for December and New Year’s Eve. I rated the hotel very high (despite my hotel snobbery) I love Homewood Suites and its customer service rarely disappoints. Thank you Jasmine and Devonte.

I’ve stayed here at least 10 times in the last 3 years. Overall, I’m consistently pleased. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are large. The food isn’t the greatest ever, but good and plentiful. They have tea, coffee, hot cocoa and ice water available all night.
Just two things I don’t like:
— the air conditioning /​heating system is loud. Enough to be annoying at times.
— they have a small «store» for snacks, toiletries, amenities, etc. It is very overpriced. When your food costs more than 7 – 11, that’s bad. Unless you have a car, if you want a snack at night you pretty much have to buy from them, because there’s nothing nearby to which you can walk.

Stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip Monday — Thursday. Can’t comment on the cost since it was company-​paid. It was my first time staying here when in the Baltimore area for work. Check in was quick and easy. Front desk staff was very friendly. I asked for take out menus and they gave me menus and also recommendations and what menu items were best which was nice.
The room was a suite so basically it was 2 separate rooms. The first room was like a living room with a kitchenette and full size fridge. There were plates, cups, pots and pans and utensils to use. I ate out most nights so I did not cook but there was a 2 burner stove in case you want to. The second room was a bedroom with a king size bed and bathroom. The bed was actually pretty comfy and I didn’t hear much noise when I shut the door between rooms so I slept as well as you can in a hotel. They have a fitness room which was small with one elliptical and 2 treadmills and a few weights. I only needed to use the treadmill so it worked for me. Breakfast was decent and had a variety of options like eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles and such. They have nightly social hour with food Mon-​Thurs but I ate out most nights so didn’t get to try it. Checking out was easy. I used the airport shuttle and it leaves every half hour. The driver was very friendly and grabbed my bags while waiting and unloaded them for me and made sure I was good before leaving. It was about a 7 min ride and very easy.
Overall, for my 3 night stay I had no issues and the rooms were clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Stayed here for a 26 day-​long business trip in October 2014. My company booked the trip so I can’t really comment on pricing. All of the staff with whom I interacted were very friendly. I was able to pocket a good chunk of my daily per diem due to the complimentary daily breakfast and the complimentary dinner served four nights per week. Some of the furniture in the room was tired and should be replaced but it wasn’t anything completely undesirable. I had a one bedroom suite with a King-​sized bed so I actually felt more like I was back home in my apartment rather than in a hotel room so that made the trip easier. Considering Baltimore’s reputation as a more rough-​and-​tumble city, this hotel is in a very safe location located up the road from the airport and off the BW Parkway. The only thing lacking about the area are the restaurants, but that’s not really within the control of this hotel. If I’m sent back to the Baltimore area again, I’ll ask that my company puts me in this hotel.

I stayed here for a Sunday-​Thursday night stay a couple of weeks ago while on a business trip. The experience started off nicely enough as I was quickly checked in and on my way to my room. As the name would imply my room ended up being a suite that consisted of two rooms. The first room was pretty much a living room with a kitchenette while the second room was the bedroom with a bathroom. Interestingly enough your stay here includes free breakfast on all days and «dinner» on weeknights. The breakfast on most mornings was ok and consisted of enough different food that I am sure everyone could find at least something to eat. That’s not to say that it was great but it wasn’t too bad either. With that in mind I headed down to check out the evening food spread on the first night that I was able to. It ended up consisting of a salad and salty snacks, aka cheezit’s and a party mix like item, and I never went down to try it again.
My experience with the amenities and the staff here was fairly hit or miss. Checking in was great and the lady that I checked in with was really nice. Some other members of the staff were also nice while others were quiet and let you pass without a word. What really ticked me off though is that on the first morning that I was there my housekeeper ended up at my door at 7:52 AM. Is that not a bit early? Beyond that while she knocked on the door, she didn’t say housekeeping and I apparently wasn’t quick enough in the 5 seconds or so she gave to get the door. Thankfully I had the door locked with the lock she couldn’t undo and she was unable to get in. After that I started looking around the room a little bit more and noticed a big panel behind my tv. I was curious to what it was and it pretty much fell off whenever I touched it. It ended up being the air conditioner and the air filter looked like it had never been cleaned or replaced as is was caked with dust. Some things you wish you could unsee and this was one of them.
The bottom line for me is that I probably wouldn’t stay here again in the future if I could help it. While everything looked and seemed great at first, the longer that I stayed here the more that I was ready to leave.

I contacted the hotel early in the morning when I was still in Vancouver. I did this to make them aware that I would be checking in very late, in fact likely early the next morning around 1:30 AM. Upon checking in the night auditor didn’t recognize me as a Hilton honors member at all, in fact all the check in information was already completed for him, so more or less he was just pressing a button and entering me in the system. No parks about being a platinum member here, nor was he offering. Upon getting to the room, I was quick to hear the heating and air-​conditioning system which pretty much rattled on the remaining hours of what might be some sleep that morning.
I also quickly realized that Wi-​Fi simply just wasn’t going to happen, at least not the Hilton honors Wi-​Fi. I came to find out later that AT&T had Wi-​Fi available.
At that time of the morning though everything is pretty much just a frustration, all you want to do is just put everything down and pass out. I’ve been traveling more less for 15 hours that day. Lastly and a frustration that exists in many hotels these days, outlets for travelers like myself outlets to plug in and recharge your phone is gadgets etc. this is a frustration that drives me bananas I literally have to carry a 6 foot extension plug for this reason alone. Overall for what the property is the room was reasonably nice and Well appointed. Plenty of space pretty comfortable bed I didn’t watch the TV I’ve been heard through other reviews that not many channels selections. But I won’t know now. They did give me a 2 ½ hour late checkout which was kind of nice. I may try back here again but I’m also going to look at some other options too.

I love the this place. This is my go to place to get away from everyone. Very clean, roomy, quiet and the king bed was very comfortable. I would be staying here again soon. Love it!

Some perspective: Over the years my wife and I have stayed at various Hilton properties, everything from upscale resorts to Hampton Inns. Overall, we’ve had great success with Hilton and its subsidiaries. All of that to say, this wasn’t our first experience with Hilton’s Homewood Suites chain, but this will definitely be our last at this particular hotel.
Reason for stay: We booked this hotel because it had a pool and was within driving distance to the Inner Harbor area. (FYI: the trip between the hotel and Inner Harbor was quick and uneventful. Took fifteen minutes or so in most instances.) We had our children with us and wanted a hotel with a swimming pool, which this location offers.
Our stay: We checked in on a Monday. Front desk staff was pleasant, courteous and the check-​in process was quick. Upon receipt of our room key, we took our luggage to the room and went out for dinner. (A meal was offered, but there was not a vegetarian option. Since my wife and I are vegetarians, we opted to head elsewhere – no big deal.) Upon returning to our room, we noticed some strange odors. It was a mix of stale smoke and cleaning products. The kids slept on the sofabed, which was of decent size. Mattress on the sofabed was relatively firm. That being said, however, the furnishings, despite their sturdiness, were well worn and quite dated.
My wife and I found our bed to be firm and rather comfortable. However, there was a significant red stain on the side of the bed on which I slept. It looked like a blood stain, but I’m not sure.
The carpet, like the furniture, was well-​worn. In some places it was threadbare and fraying around the edges.
The bathroom left a lot to be desired. There was mold on the ceiling, around the bathtub surround, and vents. Above the toilet there was a noticeable hole that no one had attempted to patch. The toilet seat was barely attached.
Before going to sleep we called down and were told by the person at the front desk that a message would be left for maintenance and that because the hour was late we would hear from the manager and maintenance personnel in the morning. This was a suitable solution, as our kids were now asleep and we did not want them to be awakened by a knock at our door from maintenance.
The next day we heard nothing from the manager. When I asked that evening to speak with the manager, we were told that the manager was out and wouldn’t be around until morning (check-​out). We were told that a note would be left for the manager and that could anticipate speaking with the manager at check-​out.
Check-​out came and went. The manager was unavailable – attending to other matters, we were told.
Needless to say, this is one of the worst experiences we’ve had at a hotel. Given the level of service we’ve experienced at other Hilton properties and chains, we’re particularly unimpressed and unhappy about this stay.

Old, sturdy furniture, comfortable beds and friendly staff. Close to BWI airport, Rub Tuesdays, Cracker Barrel and Bob Evans.

If like to preface this review with a note about the general manger. She was really nice and professional. Unfortunately she was the only nice thing about this place, please continue reading below.
Stayed for one night here with my boss on a work trip and it was the worst stay of my life. The check in woman was very rude, the room was extremely dated and smelly, and the complimentary food gave me the hershey squirts! If I don’t get bed bugs, I’d be shocked!
First, they messed up our reservation and we were told that the hotel didn’t mess it up, we did. We decided to bring up the confirmation proof and she was shocked and speechless (no apology given either). She then decided to put us in a smoking room because it was the only available room. We asked if we could see/​smell it to see if we could handle the odor, and she rolled her eyes and asked why. We ended up seeing/​smelling the room and accepted this being that it was the only one available. We then had the complimentary chicken and dumplings dinner. It looked like cat food, but we are adventurous so we decided to try it. TERRIBLE MISTAKE! I’m still feeling the rumblings in my stomach/​butt cheeks! Back to the room. The furniture looked like trash that was supposed to be thrown out back in 1970s and it smelled like used diapers dipped in cigarette ashes.
I hate to leave negative reviews like this, but sometimes it has to be known. Very disappointed in the Hilton brand for allowing this property to represent the Hilton name. I for one will never stay at a Homewood Suites again and you can be certain that Paris would be pissed if she ever saw this!!!

Came home today from my four day stay here. Our room was big enough for at least 4 people and had 2 separate rooms. Full fridge, 2 burners, microwave & all kindsa kitchen accessories. It was clean, even by my OCD standards :-)
The hotel offers free breakfast and dinner (on weekdays) The food could be a lot better but I don’t remember the last time I saw a hotel serve free dinner so I won’t complain about it.
The only complaints that I have are that the Internet service was terrible, the tv has very few channels & my phone barely worked in this place. My phone never loses signal. This made all my time killing devices pretty much useless :-/​
Because of the $ 107 price tag on the King size, smoking suite, I would indeed stay here again.

This place is old and outdated. The lobby was overrun with migrant workers which made my female colleague feel uncomfortable. When we complained, the front desk agent and GM gave us a hard time. If you prefer to stay at a Homewood, I recommend you stay at the Homewood Suites in Columbia (only 5 – 10 minutes away). It’s has better restaurants nearby, more updated décor, very good service!

Let’s get the negatives out first —
Older place, pool is indoors so can’t really lay out by the pool during hot steamy summers, food is average, the eggs at breakfast aren’t really good at all. Shuttle might lag a bit. Furniture is a bit dated. You don’t get all the cable TV channels.
Positives:
FREE shuttle transportation within a 5 mile radius and you can get to the light rail, Amtrak, all within 5 miles.
FREE hot breakfast AND dinner. Dinner is M-​Th only, but It’s free! and some foods are quite tasty too… it can be hit or miss. Menu is on your fridge.
FREE coffee/​tea/​hot cocoa is always in the lobby.
Rooms are equipped with utensils, dishes, dishwasher and soap, stove, microwave, big fridge, flat panel TVs. Yes more than 1.
Staff is super friendly, complimentary razors and shaving cream too!
Shuttle is really fast and there to service you, just watch out for peak times when it’s running around picking up and dropping off people.
Rate is really reasonable for those amenities!
