History
Established in 2007.
A Time for Help was established by two sisters with a passion for helping seniors. As the name implies, sometimes there is a time in life when a little help is needed & appreciated. This help may come in the form of housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders and transportation OR the help may come in the form of personal hygiene and medication assistance. In addition, a professional such as a registered nurse may be helpful, too. A Time for Help provides homemakers, home health aides & nurses to assist seniors in their desire to remain independently living in their own homes.
The two sisters have discovered time &again that it is so important to not only match needs of the seniors with the skills of the caregivers but also to match personalities as much as possible. Because of good matches caregivers and seniors really develop a bond and mutual respect for each other. ATFH takes pride in the many seniors & families that have been assisted in their 5 plus yrs of existence.
Meet the Business Owner
Shirlyn N.
Business Owner
Kay and Shirlyn Nickelson are two sisters who began A Time for Help in the northeastern TC metro area in 2007. After caring for Len Nickelson, their Dad who had Alzheimers Disease they decided to attempt to help other families with the challenges of caring for a family member. The idea was to help prevent burnout of family members providing long term care for parents at home. Kay is an RN with previous experience working with cancer patients. Early on she realized her experience working with cancer patient families was a real plus in working with seniors & their families. Because she also had previous experience with hiring, training and evaluating employees she was able to bring that experience directly to caregiving training & supervision. Shirlyn, on the other hand, has more business experience having managed retail stores. In order to have a broader understanding of seniors, Shirlyn obtained additional training & became a member of the Society of Certified Senior Advisers.
