Go Roma

So sad to hear the Lincolnshire location closed last Saturday, May 2^nd. Food was superb as was the service. Our group is now looking for an alternative restaurant that meets your high standards.

Hadn’t been here in awhile and was really looking forward to the flatbread. Happy to see a Go For 2 option so ordered the tomato & goat cheese on wheat flatbread and a tomato basil soup. We also ordered bruchetta and calamari which both ended up being really tasty and the best part of the meal.
Food came fast and the service was fine. Just really disappointed in the dryness and lack of flavor of the flatbread. Not what I remembered.
Some good, some not so much. I think I will go for the pasta next time.

With this place, you know exactly what you are getting — fast food Italian style.
I was glad to see the Go for Two special offered — half of a flatbread and a cup of soup. It was the perfect amount of food for lunch.
There was no line when I arrived, so we got to ordering, got our drinks, picked our table (no shortage of seats), and the food came out shortly after that.
The food was pretty good, but not great. It was cold out, so I appreciated the hot soup and warm flatbread. But, I think Roma’s was seriously skimpy on the spices/​seasoning. I would have liked to taste more than just cheese on my flatbread. The soup also lacked spice, but its bigger problem was that it was too brothy with not enough pasta/​veggies to make it a minestrone.
I’d stop in for a quick lunch, but not sure I’d make this a destination place to eat.

I’m sad to update my review because I really do like Go Roma, but the last 5 or 6 times I’ve come here for a Chopped Salad, the lettuce has been gross and old. You know when you leave iceberg lettuce in the fridge too long and the white parts turn pink? Yeah. Gross. Their salads have such great flavor, but it’s really not worth spending $ 7 if you aren’t getting fresh ingredients. I guess Portillo’s will be my go-​to Chopped Salad from now on :(

Location. Location. Location.
Why would they choose a location without parking? Three restaurnats and a cell phone store share a parking lot that looks like it was meant for just one of those businesses. Seriously, I had to park in a lot that isn’t exactly adjacent somewhere between a Barnes and Noble and a DSW Shoe store. That alone will keep me from coming back. Who has time for that on their lunch break?
I had the Chicken Parm sandwich. With tax it just broke 8 bucks. It was meaty and mostly pretty good. I was apprehensive about the giardenara on it, but it was a nice touch. Parts were dry and could use more sauce, but at least it wasn’t a wet sloppy mess either.
The fries (which I had heard great things about) might have been really good, if they were served 30 minutes prior when they would have been fresh. They were dry and cold. But, I can see why people like the flavor. They toss them in some herbs and parmesan. Too bad I got a bad bunch. I would have asked for new fresh ones, but I had spent all of my extra time during my break on the expedition from the parking lot.
If whoever in corporate hadn’t chosen such a lousy spot without parking, I would probably become a semi-​regular. But, I need something that isn’t completely inconvenient during my lunch breaks.

Heard pretty good things about this place, finally tried it out. Did no tknow it was a fast takeout place for lunch, kinda like the Italian version of noodle & co. Which by the way, Noodle & Co is just right next door.
I got the pomodoro, fair portion, about the same as Noodle & Co. It was $ 7.39 or so with tax. A bit more than Noodle &co. But it tasted pretty good! You can pick bowtie, spaghetti, rigatoni or linguine for your pasta. My linguine came out with a wheat pasta and I HATE wheat pasta, but still the dish was surprisingly good. Came with a bread stick. What I love about this place is, it is FAST, like it took 2 minute for it to roll out of the kitchen. LOVE IT! You can do the pick 2 for $ 7.99. Soup, salad, pasta or pizza for ½ portion.

The first time I came here I tried the goat cheese pizza and I was hooked! Keep in mind I hate goat cheese, but when I read all the ingredients on the pizza I started salivating. They bring it out to you on this wooden board and it is beyond words! I ordered it with this tiny little glass of Chianti. I came back a few days later for the pear and walnut salad and again… so delicious! Now every time I go I keep trying something new. It never disappoints. The place always has people, but it’s never overcrowded. The staff is very friendly and they always bring everything to your table in a timely manner. They have little tables with umbrellas in case you wish to sit outside.

The husband and I came here to grab a quick bite before catching a movie. It was perfect! In and out in about 25 minutes. We are speedy eaters, but watch out, the food was served piping hot. We almost burned our mouths.
We stopped in here because it says right on the door that they are fast! Having no experience what so ever with this chain I asked the order taker what was good here. Her response was «everything»! She suggested the «Italian classics». I chose the baked rigatoni with meat sauce. It was excellent. Came out hot, cheesy and delicious. Hubby had the spaghetti with meat marinara sauce. Also good tasting. Both dishes came with a bread stick for dipping in the leftover sauce.
Okay, this isn’t gourmet Italian, but come on, it isn’t meant to be. This place is perfect for quick, basic, good, tasting, fast food style Italian fare with friendly service!

The closet location to me disappeared quickly a few months ago, so we tried this one last night. It was not busy yet most booths were uncleared or tables were a bit dirty @7:45! The food was pretty good, with the 2 pasta dishes we had (About $ 9 ea.) as shown in the photos among our favorites. We had to go over to an empty table to get our own silverware/​napkin set ups. Overall, this place is OK, but needs a service «shakedown» to get it up to speed.

Go there for lunch quite frequently since it’s right next to my job. I always get the «go for 2» special so I can get 2 small portions.
My fav is the pepperoni pizza and the roma chopped salad (have to balance my calories! Lol) I am part of their free «rewards» program however I feel like I dont get anything free anymore. The program has changed so much I dont even know how it works!

Pros: The best french fries of any restaurant. Delicious sandwiches, pasta, pizza and salads. Simple (good) service style similar to Noodles & Co. Very family friendly. Outdoor section is nice. Offers beer.
Cons: Difficult crammed parking lot. (Which effects the other restaurants in that location as well.)
Notes: Intentionally no TVs.

Pretty affordable for north Chicago! Service was excellent, or is that typical Midwestern hospitality? Portions were hearty; there is a wine menu at $ 5-​$ 6 a glass!

Sorry go Roma. Pizza is not going to get raves – it can be improved I’d say. The crust needs some identity – more crisp, more taste. (Sopraffina has the same concept, but better execution).
I see other’s reviews who are positive about other aspects. I’ll come back and check. I hope that the reviewers are not hypers. (I mean over enthusiastic reviewers).

For a chain, I really enjoy Go Roma.
Their food is locally sourced, always hot and fresh, and consistent. You know what you’re going to get, and it is going to be good.
My personal favorite is the Country Style Rigatoni, which is a garlic cream sauce with local crumbled italian sausage, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and basil.
All pastas come with a bread stick, which is perfect for dipping in the extra sauce. You can also order any pasta with any other shaped noodle. The last time I was there, I wanted my garlicky creamy sausagey goodness, but also wanted to feel a little bit better about myself, so I ordered the whole wheat pasta. No problem!
Like I said, I like knowing that what I am going to get is good, fresh, and local, as well as reasonably priced!

Go Roma is one of our go-​to spots for lunch or dinner. Some favorites: chopped salad, tomato basil soup, veggie pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and the skinny fries that come with the sandwiches! Really tasty, quick, italian food — much more authentic/​high quality than you might expect. They have a rewards program that is great and we end up getting free entrees fairly regularly. They have tasty kids meals that are a favorite with our son so that makes a big difference for us as well. The service is usually at least decent and the seating area is nice and clean.
my one complaint — they have one of those freestyle coke machines. emphasis on ONE. people tend to let their children play and make kamakaze drinks and make the wait for a drink FOREVER. so annoying. get another pop machine AND pay attention to your kids.

I think overall this place has great customer service across the board, but I did noticed that this particular location is always prompt and nice. I think it has a lot to do that it’s near corporate offices so a lot of of business professionals go here for lunch and for meetings. Therefore, the staff takes on a more attentive approach than usual.
They keep the place pretty clean and neat, and besides the general busboy, there are people walking around without uniforms cleaning up tables and giving me boxes to go too. Once, I thought it was a normal customer asking me if I wanted to ‘box that’, so I was relieved a moment later to find that she wasn’t after my food. ;P
Another time, I had gotten up and started walking out when I was chased after by one of the staff that I had forgotten my food. Things like that feels genuine so I appreciate the service here. I think for the most part, you’ll like this place because it’s quick and easy satisfaction to Italian cravings.
Today I had the Country-​Styled Chicken Rigatoni for about $ 9 something with tax. It was just right, not too salty and not bland. The sauce was liquidy, almost soupy-​like but that’s to my liking. Makes me feel like it’s not as high calorie even though it probably was a bit. They also have good portion pizza and a few selections for soup/​meal combo. Overall, you will find something for under $ 8 – 10 here.
I enjoy this place and will definitely come back many more times.

My expectations were pretty low for a fast food Italian type place, but I gotta say, molto bene! :)
We went during a very busy noonish lunch and even though it was swamped, the line moved fast, the food was good, and we even managed to find a seat. ;) I had and would definitely order again, the pick your pasta and sauce deal with country style sauce (cream sauce with chunky fennel sausage, mushroom, garlic and bell peppers?) served over linguine. Delicioso! My companion even decided she was ordering it for dinner the same night (a happy coincident that her friend chose the same place for their dinner date later that evening). It was thick and flavorful, and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Meanwhile her margherita pizza looked yum and I tasted the vinaigrette on her salad (with permission!) and it was zippy. My refillable tea and entrée with bread stick was $ 11, and I took half of it home.
This is my first experience here, but it has convinced me to return to this very casual and airy (patio was open too!), albeit loud, and likely not too authentic Italian, establishment to indulge in more. Although, I think I may have hit the lottery (dish-​wise) on my first try.

OK people, its not your typical Sabarro’s or Pompei type of substandard Italian/​American food. It’s actually decent for lunch or a quick bite to keep you satisfied. They give you enough food to eat, so the portions are good, and the price is not recession proof, but worth what you’re eating
($ 7-​$ 12 range).
Try the Chicken Pomadorro Sandwich which is full of flavor, and the Ravioli in Marinara Sauce is balanced, not too sweet and not too sour with the right consistency. You’ll be surprise that it’s decent food.
Best Part is they have a Coca Cola «State of the Art» soda machine that has different soda products that you don’t get at a regular store. That was AWESOME (Peach & Lime Fanta are tops)
So eat and fill up!
