Kaua’i Marriott Resort

Nice hotel, Great Pool, Great private beach, technically it’s published but it feels private. The rooms have comfy beds and pillows. You have to pay wifi which is lame. Our room is like a bunker so our cell phones don’t even work. The restaurants are over priced, so walk off campus to eat much more affordable. There are rental car discounts and other tourism discounts. Overall a good resort just not the best of the best.

Love this resort! Everyone is accommodating and willing to help!

Long term Marriott time share owners (Ko Olina & Shadow Ridge), we wasted an exchange to get a two BR villa at the Kauai Beach Club. Despite owning a water view villa on Oahu, we got a villa with a terrible view here and could not get it changed. The 2BR unit had no stovetop, a tiny refrigerator, no counter space, no washer/​dryer in unit.
Three gas grills for the entire facility, no BBQ tools at the grill site or in the villa. Coin-​op washer/​dryer somewhere in the building vs convenient and free at other locations. Overall internal/​external appearance of the place is old, tired and sub standard in comparison to other Marriott villas we have used in the US and abroad.
Yes, we should have read the fine print but after almost 15 years of very good experiences we trusted Marriott and expected a certain standard, which we absolutely did not get at the Kauai Beach Club. Won’t make that mistake again and will never come back to this place.
On the plus side, the staff was very professional and helpful, as we have always experienced with Marriott, but given what they have to work with, they could do little to make this situation better.

I can’t understand the low ratings for this hotel. The grounds are impeccable, service is fantastic and the rooms are extremely nice. I walked around in awe at how nice this place is. The pool area is incredible. 5 hot tubs to relax in with beach a short walk away. I never turned on the TV but was nice sized. Great AC. The parking is tough. We counted 1200 steps from room to parking spot. If this is too much you might want to valet park. The five nights spent here were awesome!!!

We still love this place and we will be back, but if your a hotel guest you need to know it’s not going to be a Marriott Hotel experience. This place is primarily now a time share. It’s a beautiful property in a wonderful location but it’s not a full service hotel anymore.
Just know going in, your kind of on your own. We requested turn down service each night and only got it one time in 5 days and only after complaining 4 times. Service at the bar and places is heavily weighted on the time share repeats. The gym is in good need of up do, but that pool and hot tubs calls us back like the siren song.

This review is based solely on the SERVICE I received over the phone yesterday (1÷22÷16 around 4pm). I can’t remember the name of the lady who answered the phone, but all I can say is she was VERY RUDE! I asked a question and she answered me as if I was annoying her, and because I didn’t understand her reply I asked her another question to clarify. Again, she replied in the most RUDEST way possible. It was such a short phone call and only two questions, so idk why she had to respond in such an irritated demeanor…
I work in customer service and know better than to speak to a client in that kind of tone.
PLEASE FIX YOUR ATTITUDE OR DONT WORK IN CUSTOMER SERVICE! …especially if you’re gonna be answering the phones or seeing customers in person at the front desk. Wish I could remember her name so I could pinpoint exactly who I spoke to… I was caught off guard by her lack of hospitality over the phone.
On a good note, I’ve spoken to other ladies on the phone and their service was on point!

If I could give this resort more than 5 stars, I definitely would! I absolutely loved this place! I look forward to booking it next year. Since the minute we arrived to Kauai in the airport, Chad, the shuttle driver was beyond friendly and gave us different suggestions on activities we could do here in Kauai. Right after arriving to the hotel, we were checked in by Johnalin. She was the sweetest! She was so helpful with everything! And even sent us a personalized note congratulating us on our wedding since we were in our honeymoon! Jen also sent us a personalized note! So sweet! We had arrived pretty late so the only thing open was room service which we ordered and the burgers were delicious and the room service server Melvin was fantastic! With all the stress from our wedding we decided to go to Alexander Spa and my husband had the pleasure of having Patric as his massage therapist. I don’t recall the one I had :((sorry). My husband kept raving about how great his massage was! Our second night, my husband decided to reserve a spot in Café Portofino and Bennit was amazing! So knowledgable about the menu and drinks! We also booked one of the activities the resort provides (canoeing) with Joe and it was so much fun! I imagined and nice laid back canoe trip but it was awesome we actually got some great waves! Of course we went to Kalapaki grill where Kande made us the best drinks! Definitely loved the lava flow! We loved Kurt! He was so friendly and joyful! He always remembered us and was just a joy to be around! We had breakfast at Kukuis restaurant and our server Ramon was so sweet and helpful especially since we wanted everything on the menu lol. Last but not least, someone we saw everyday was Cuda! Everyday we went by the pool he was sweet and made sure to give us a great experience. I absolutely loved it! Can’t wait to go back. Thank you for making this a great honeymoon week for my husband and I!

Just had my honeymoon here. Fantastic experience! Alot of activities, adventures, and fine dining to be enjoyed. We did everything from flower arranging to canoeing to just relaxing by the pool. The restaurants are great. If you love Italian, I definitely recommend Café Portofino. The staff was very friendly and always had smiles in their faces and were always ready to help and answer our questions.

Patrick! — Massage therapist from Alexander Day Spa. FANTASTIC massage, felt so relaxed and stress free afterwards.
Bennit! — Server at Café Portofino. Very knowledgeable about the menu, great sense of humor, and gave awesome recommendations.
Kande! — Great bartender at Kalapaki Grill. I highly recommend the Lava Flow and the Chocolate Espresso Vodka drink.
Kurt! — Server at Kalapaki Grill. Very nice guy, always friendly and ready to help out! Very funny guy as well.
Uncle Joe! — Guide for the Canoe tour. Nice guy, has us surfing the waves on a canoe!
and lastly, Cuda! — Attendant at the towel hut by the pool. Very nice and always greeted us with a smile.
All in all, it was a great experience staying here for 6 days. What an amazing honeymoon. We plan to return soon. I highly recommend staying here!

DO NOT BOOK AN OCEAN VIEW ROOM WITH THIS HOTEL. We forked over the extra $ 100 per night, and our «ocean view» turned out to be 90% pool and 10% ocean. When we complained, we were told, «Honestly this is the best room we have available right now for an ocean view.» I did not pay extra for «best available now,» I paid extra for an ocean view. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. We were ultimately compensated our resort fee, which does not make up for the original difference in price.

Few hotels combine fine-​sand beach resort + snorkeling/​paddleboarding cove + green mountain backdrop that transforms the stay into the magical.
As Marriott Elite, I’ve stayed at many fancy resorts (ex Mauna Kea, Autograph Collection) where one is cliff/​ocean-​side, yet few within the safe harbors of a cove where beach swimming feels safe & enclosed while being expansive.
This resort is perfect for family reunions, romantic escapes, a quick getaway.
Tips:
— Snorkel on the left side of the beach, and you’ll see fish in a more natural habitat than Poipu Beach, teaming with fish seeking human food. Species are similar yet slightly more diverse.
— great for December stays when the waves are less harsh on the south shore, as well as summer
— quick 5-​min next to the airport, yet don’t let that fool you — it’s secluded & we didn’t see many planes throughout our stay
— sun actually shines when forecast says cloudy in Lihue, and quick drizzles in December don’t last long
Only negatives:
— room was normal, not fancy nor unique
— pillows were confusing, didn’t mold to head

My 2 star experience at the 3 star Kaua’i Marriott. Not up to Marriott’s Standards.
I’m really surprised at the high marks this hotel has received. The rooms are dated and in a well worn state. Most of the rooms face the Las Vegas style pool and absorb noise from the kiddie pools. I’ve checked out two rooms during my over a week stay and found that «Partial Ocean View» mean you can hear the ocean but not see it, OR you can see it across the pool. NOISE! This place is loud, my second room is on the top floor yet there is machinery on the roof constantly bagging ever 48 seconds, i timed it. Once you realize the hotel isn’t that good, why stay on this side of the island? There is no sunset or sunrise glory this cove is the least picturesque view of one of the most picturesque islands.
If you rent a car it’s either a 20 minute walk to the lot, or you can sit in your car and wait for someone to leave at the closer always full lots.
Also not obvious from the website, this resort is ²⁄₃ time share and thus brings a different crowd than the overpriced hotel crowd. BE WARNED, better views, hotels, and values at many other sites on this island
Last note is that their website advertises FREE WIFI and then when you want WIFI in the room they charge $ 13 for slow internet and $ 25 for decent internet PER DAY, on top of their $ 30 resort fee.
I originally gave them 2 stars but after the conversation with Daphne at check out made it clear they don’t care about their guests AT ALL!

We pay for an ocean view room and spent a total of 7 nights here. The swimming pool is beautifully decorated & the lobby is also very well designed. It is located less than 10 minutes away from the airport with little to no noise from the airport traffic. Nevertheless, I will not choose to stay here again.
(1) We pay for a room with ocean view. Yes, we did see the ocean from a distance away. However, we were put on the room to the far right side of the hotel. Half of the view is the attic of the hotel. Since we were tired from a long flight, we just put up with it.
(2) the bed sheets do not smell good. It either smells like bleach or something else. My head turns every time my nose is on the pillow.
(3) After a long exhausting flight to get here, the check in person redirect u to another table for «discount» deal while staying in the hotel. Great news! They offer money or reward point for a 90 minutes timeshare presentation. I explained that I didn’t want to be rude but I was exhausted, she then told me to come back down and I’ll thank her like other guests did. Smh…
(4) they charge a undisclosed $ 30 per night resort fee after the room was booked. At check out, my final bill showed an $ 8.33 charge that incurred on my first day here. I explained to the hotel staff that we were out and about on our first day here. He politely told me to wait 10 minutes so that they could retrieve the receipt for me to review. So what happened after wasting 10 minutes of my time? It was a charge that belongs to the previous guests who stayed in the same room. The staff told me that happens before due to the slight delay in billing. If it happens before, why didn’t your hotel fix it? Instead of giving to guests that inconvenient of dealing with this shit on their way out?
(5) I love drinking coffee. Their coffee pot is constantly leaking water from the bottom. They also gave u very limited creamer (2 packs) that is barely enough for one cup of coffee.
(6) The bathroom sink is so small we always have to fight for space just to brush our teeth or wash our faces. We simply ended up taking turns to use the bathroom. So much for paying for a ocean view room.
(7) limited TV channels. And for the one that they do have, the reception doesn’t work every 10 minutes. Seriously?
Really…stay somewhere else if you could.

Property setting is very nice, do not let the proximity to the airport concern you at all we didn’t even hear the jets, we did hear the tour helicopters. The beach is very nice with both a wonderful sandy area and a large grassy area if you would like to lay on the grass. The pool is also very nice with plenty of chairs, the number of servers increases in the late afternoon but if you are out there (and you will be) in the morning there are very few wait staff. We had an issue with the Wifi, but it wasn’t too bad.
We were in room 1722 with a pool and partial ocean view, our view was very nice. The bedding is comfortable and the room easily met our expectations as being clean, comfortable and convenient. There are plenty of on-​site food venues that are good, typically expensive for hotel venues so it was not surprising however a very short drive away there are plenty of excellent places to eat that are also good values.
The Koi pond is wonderful, don’t miss the fish feeding. They have a week long itinerary of things to do both complimentary and for a fee, its changes but it looks like a good list (we only stayed 2 days so we did not try any of them).
I would not classify this resort as luxurious but it is a very comfortable place to stay, the staff is friendly and the location is nice. We would stay here again however it would be a toss-​up between this and the Grand Hyatt which is more expensive but sometimes they are close to price. The Hyatt’s beach is not as nice but the property is over the top in all the other areas.

We’ve enjoyed our stay at this hotel. One hing about Marriott is that you always know the staff will be properly trained and available to assist with anything you might need. The fitness room is very good for a hotel gym. 5 treadmills, 4 ellipticals, 4 bikes, cable crossover machine with other stations. A smith machine, Dumbbells and a host of other equipment. The standard $ 30 resort fee gives you free self park, a free coffee at the coffee stand, wireless internet in the room and a few other perks but nothing amazing.
We are moving to another location today but I think we ‘d come back again, we’ll see if there are any surprises in the bill. It’s worth mentioning that we booked this through American Express Travel and saved about $ 100 on the room rate

This hotel has managed to ruin our honeymoon experience. Not a single soul on the staff team smiles or says anything nice to you. Not even a good morning. Rude and abrasive staff.
Parking is a nightmare here. You pay $ 30/​day resort fee highlighting resort parking which you either park a mile away from your room. Or in an accessible area close to your room where locals have access to and it takes about 40mins to find a spot.

Amazing hotel with amazing views. Horrible staff and amenities. Coming from a globetrotting couple who have visited a Marriott in 30+ countries.

Gardenview rooms are not all that they are cracked up to be at least not mind if your room 466 refuse to go in. NOT GARDEN VIEW!!! I haven’t been to the pool yet let’s hope everyone’s rave reviews live up to my expectations there were some cute chickens walking around property tho very close to airport Hotel will pick you up

Location is 5 stars. Close enough to the airport and midway from everything else.
Service is 5 stars. Anything you need at all, the staff is so helpful and friendly. They really have the Aloha Spirit here!
Rooms were absolutely 5 stars. They were roomy (hahaha!), clean, and super comfy.
Pool, grounds, everything else, 5 stars as well! The pool is gigantic. And it has 5 hot tubs situated around it so that’s great too. I hate it when there are only a couple hot tubs and I have to boil close to sweaty strangers. My son absolutely loved the water slide. They are also located on a little lagoon so you can easily access the beach. We loved to sit on the sand and watch the huge cruise ships come in. It was just absolutely beautiful and relaxing.
Another thing I really liked about this hotel was the breakfast. Overlooking the pool, there was a large breakfast bar. They had almost everything for purchase. We instantly became addicted to their breakfast bentos. They also had cereal, assortments of fruit, breakfast pastries, coffee, etc. You could never go hungry or bored here.
I just hope my husband sees this review and decides to take us back again! Hint hint!

Huge pool, 5 hot tubs, legit resort, meaning you do not have to leave for anything unless you want to and a very calm, mellow beach. Has a Dukes on site and thats worth a star all by itself.
Has nice bbq area you can use at no additional charge. Good set of rental toys like surfboards, SUP, and boogie boards available. They dont charge for chairs or small things like other resorts do.
They do have the dumb resort fee like most places in HI. Doesn’t cover anything you wouldn’t already be expecting to be included bit thats how they squeeze a few more bucks out of you.
Bellhop and service staff are vert helpful. Front desk doesn’t seem very seasoned.
Beware of the Ocean View rooms in some towers. They dont have a partial ocean view concept here, if you can see the ocean even if hanging off the balcony looking around a corner, they call itocean view. We complained, they moved us, and all was well but they stuck to the story of our first room being ocean view.
Grounds are awesome, lots of places to explore and if you walk ¼ of a mile you have other shops and an abc store to load up on beer or w/​e.

Excellent proximity to the airport — Hotel even provides shuttles to and from the airport at a pretty regular basis. This is extremely convenient.
This Marriott used to be a Westin property. No wonder it’s the nicest Marriott I’ve ever been to. The hotel boasts the largest pool in HI. During our Spring Break stay, the pool and hotel grounds were not crowded at all. Hotel beach has large frontage, with plenty of surfing, body boarding and paddle boarding. I would not recommend snorkeling here, as some of the rip currents are pretty strong. I actually did do some snorkeling, and the bottom structure or lack thereof was not conducive to holding fish and other snorkeling sights.
The grounds are beautiful with lots of gardens and even a huge koi pond. Daily koi feedings at 9am are very popular with the guests.
Several restaurants and small businesses are within walking distance.
Staff is excellent, including concierge, bell hops, doormen, and maids.
The golf course is also a nice perk on the property. One of the most scenic courses that I have ever played — see my other review.

The Kauai Marriott is a wonderful place to stay. Lemme tell you why…
–The pool is great
–They’ve got five hot tubs to enjoy
–the hotel is nestled in a cool cove with incredible views of the ocean
–the covered for calm seas on one side of the cove, and waves on the other side for surfing and paddle boarding
–the Kauai Lagoons golf course is just up the hill; great course with beautiful views
–several restaurants to choose from at and near the hotel
–right next to the airport
–kid friendly
The hotel itself feels a bit dated; I say that because I was there ~15 years ago when it first opened. I think you’re going to be happy with your stay though.
