History

Established in 1985.

The Cat Clinic of Johnson County was established in 1985 by Dr. Irene Schomacker and purchased by Dr. Taylor in December of 2012. Our mission of providing quality, personalized health care for feline-​only patients remains the same as when Dr. Schomacker founded the clinic. We are devoted to quality health care and superior client service, and strive to create a compassionate, stress-​free environment for you and your cat.

Our older cat had not been eating well and had lost weight. This is a bit of a 10 year pattern with her, but when she stopped eating entirely, she was seen on an emergency basis at a local emergency clinic. Later, when we took her to the Cat Clinic, she was diagnosed and treated. Within a day, she started eating. Less than a week later, she is eating and asking for more food! The staff at the Cat Clinic of Johnson County was caring and competent. Dr. Taylor was knowledgeable and gave us thorough explanations.
This first-​rate, cat-​only, veterinary service is a real asset to this area. When a cat is ill, they do not want to be around barking dogs. Just ask any cat, they are not shy about discussing it.

We take all of our cats to the Cat Clinic of JoCo, they are the best at feline specialty care. With a focus solely on cats, they are in tune to all the nuances of feline health and rare conditions unlike traditional veterinary offices. From boarding and grooming our kitties to diagnosis and treatment or routine care, they are always attentive and caring for our fur babies and know them all by name and personality quirks so we can chat about them all during any of their individual appointments.
We credit Cat Clinic of JoCo for saving our oldest kitty, Princess when she had a rare bile duct infection and a rare stone in her bladder on separate occasions. Ordinary veterinarians wouldn’t have been able to make such a quick diagnosis and treatment plans in time to save her life. She’s a handful and we’re thankful to still have our cranky old lady around the house. :)

We love the Cat Clinic. We have been going to this clinic for many years. We rarely even have a wait and if we do, it’s never longer than about five minutes — and yet we have never felt that the vet was in a hurry to rush us through our appointments, either. The staff members are all wonderful and the vets have been great about meeting our cats various needs and doing so with great care. When the time came for each of our elderly cats to leave this world, we (owners AND cats) were treated with the utmost compassion. We just adopted another cat and there’s no question that we will be taking this cat to the Cat Clinic for all our veterinary needs. They are the best!

Really great with my really vet adverse cat. The vet knows her stuff and spent time talking with me despite being busy. Really glad I switched to the cat clinic of joco. Better pricing and way better experience for my cat and me.

Our cat has had two appointments in the past week. During the first appointment, we had to wait for an hour before the vet saw us. During our second appointment, we waited 40. The office did not seem busy, but even if it was, we didn’t expect to wait that long. Our cat is fairly anxious when we go to the vet, so the long waits didn’t help. In addition, our kitty was having urinary problems, so it didn’t make sense to have us wait that long either (poor baby ended up peeing on herself during those visits right before they did a urinalysis). The staff there are incredibly helpful and nice, but the professionalism on timing has turned us off. We’re honestly thinking about just driving the 30 miles back to Lawrence to see our previous vet at the Lawrence Cat Clinic (we just moved to the area from Lawrence) for our follow up and future appointments.

Amazing experience! I have been nervous about taking my cat to the vet after a bad experience at another vet but am sooo happy I found cat clinic! The vet and vet tech took the time to try to put my adorable furball at ease. They answered all of my questions and seemed to genuinely care. Definitely will be taking my adorable furball back.

I can’t believe no one has written a review about the Cat Clinic of Johnson County. We have been taking our little fur ball here for 13 years.
Dr. Irene and Dr. Walker are so great. One of the best things about Cat Clinic of JoCo is that they only treat cats. You don’t have to worry about dogs or birds or any other kind of animal to be there to upset your little kitty.
They take in kitties and apdot them out, they have house cats that roam the halls and help with paper work.
Everyone there is great and helps with whatever needs to be done. They are gentle with the cats and the cat parents. We can be an emotional bunch, and no I am not a crazy cat lady. We only have one cat but she has been with us for 13 years and she is our baby or fur kid whatever you want to call her.
Our kitty is getting old 70 in human years and they are even extra special with her. Making sure she is not to stressed out and do the absolute best they can to keep her calm.
I have recommended them to many people and will send anyone that has a cat and needs a vet here.
