My wife and I are OBSESSED with this place! We were recommended here by my parents, and I am so glad they did! I got the vegetarian fires, felt like experimenting with what I usually get, and my wife got the shrimp Cali burrito. When we took a bite of our food, we were instantly hooked! A plus was that the food was made so fast and the presentation was not messy at all, and the customer service was great. Overall we love this place, and will be coming back soon. We don’t think of going to any other Mexican fast food restaurant but here!

Hands down best flauta dish I’ve ever had. Perfect light and flaky, chicken was perfect. Rice and beans are a perfect compliment and the salsa Fresca is ridiculously fresh tasting. Highly recommend

Classic Mexican food with better fries than the average Mexican food place. They often have coupons which helps. We love their bean and cheese burritos and veggie burritos.

Pretty Bomb! We love taco Tuesday’s! $ 1.49 each for carne asada, carnitas, al pastor, or fish tacos. It’s kind of our weekly taco Tuesday joint. Sauces/salsas are yummy as well.

Disgusting the cali shrimp burrito was so bad I had to toss it. Pretty sure they use basil instead of cilantro. Don’t get me wrong I love basil but not in Mexican food. The fries were still frozen and the cheese was cold and not melted.

At first I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this place. It seems like a taco shop, but with newer trendy items like buffalo fries. So we ordered lots of items(for the family). I ordered the rolled fish tacos minus the cabbage and the pico de gallo. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered this item but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s like a fish taco only easier to eat and crunchy. Their white sauce is awesome and full of flavor. The Buffalo fries we’re actually very good. I didn’t think I was going to like them but after trying them I found myself wanting more. The beef rolled tacos look pretty standard for a Mexican restaurant as did the carne asada fries except there wasn’t a whole lot of carne asada on them. My son seemed to like their quesadilla just fine and it was nice that they cut it into strips. After trying this place I know I will definitely be back.

Today I decided to indulge in some post gym gluttony. The surf and turf fries came in at a little over $ 11. My first impression was that the food looked amazing(for fast food). I asked for their«special white sauce» on the side because I was expecting it to be some type of sour cream… But really. It was ranch, so I just tossed it. The fries were perfect for me because they were skinny and crispy. It’s always disappointing to have soggy fries in carne asada fries. My friend pointed out that there wasn’t as much carne asada as he hoped there would be. The shrimp appeared slightly opaque which was concerning, but because I’m wild and dangerous(really mostly just because I’m fat) I ate them anyways. It was satisfying and the portion is large. The salsa bar is fairly standard but at least they have one. Have a range of spicy including as low as a guacamole salsa up to as hot as a habanero one. Wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here but could see it satisfying another post gym craving.

Being within walking distance to work means I eat Burros & Fries way too often. Given the frequency, I should have an opinion on an array of menu items, but I don’t — I stick with what I know and like, so I can only tell you that the breakfast burritos are bomb, their beef flautas are incredible, and their kids meals are great when you aren’t super hungry. I typically get 3 beef flautas, which are served with shredded cheese on top and a good supply of sour cream, guacamole, and i skip the salsa fresca. They are so delicious and crispy! I ordered chicken once to switch it up, but I always stick with beef now. Side note — if you order something that gets served on the black styrofoam, look out for black styrofoam to melt into your food with certain items like refried beans.

The girl who took our order was on her cell phone the whole time she took our order. Rude. And it took her 5 minutes to pour our horchatas because she continued her phone call after we ordered. We ordered a cheese enchilada and it came with cheese(not melted cheese) wrapped in a tortilla. The overall experience of this place was not good. Wish I could say I had a better experience because I heard good things about the place.

I literally just walked out. The girl at the counter was talking to a guy that was standing around about why he wouldn’t cosign a car for her. They were talking about credit scores and dropping F bombs. Haven’t even tried the food yet(the tamarindo drink is very watery though) but based on that first impression I can tell you I won’t be back. The one star is for the employee. The rice was good, the beans were a bit on the salty side, and the chicken burrito was average, it lacked flavor.

I first tried this chain of taco shops at the imperial marketplace loc. and It was really good food(I had ordered a California burrito.) I personally like the lemon grove location more because it’s always looking clean and the customer service is good. A lot of the food is good, I just wish they would get better salsa, not to say that it’s not good, the habanero salsa is nice and spicy, but it’s just missing some flavor. Overall would recommend this place. Try the rolled tacos as well… They are close to perfect.

Another location of Burros & Fries has opened and luckily for me it’s rather close to my house. I had the liberty of first trying out this San Diego chain when giving their Clairemont location a visit a couple of months ago. Like their Clairemont location, I found this new Lemon Grove restaurant to be pretty damn good. According to the sign located in all their restaurants( ) this place was started by someone whose family is in the restaurant business, the guy’s father started another Mexican shop chain in SD called Cotijas(which is all over the place). The place specializes in Burros(short for burritos, what a lot of places in Mexico call them), they have lots of different types of burritos. Their salsa bar( ) has four different types of sauces and the most amazing hot carrots. The hot carrots( ) here were seasoned great and had lots of heat to them. A lot of people rave about their guac salsa, but I personally think it’s quite nasty. I’m more of a fan of their cotijas and habanero sauce. I ordered a breakfast burrito here along with some rolled tacos. The breakfast burrito() came with tasty delicious carne asada, eggs and french fries. I had them add some beans to it because breakfast burritos need beans damit. From the picture( ) you can tell they stuff their burritos pretty good, lots of good stuff inside and it’s not full of fries either. They added lots of meat, eggs and beans to it like a good breakfast burrito should have. I really don’t care for actual potatoes in burritos so the crispy french fries were a plus for me. Their rolled tacos( ) were quite nice with crispy tacos and lots of toppings on top. They have really good guacamole here( ) and it definitely leaves you with delicious rolled taco topping mix. Glad to see Burros & Fries is doing well enough to open a third location in San Diego. The restaurant looks quite nice inside and provides a rather large dining room. They have a very clear and concise menu with a large variety of taco shop items. On the other wall they have a huge list of daily specials( ) which sport pretty decent prices for quality taco shop food.

TJ tacos: loaded with meat yum! very filling. order three tacos but only finished about half of them. carne asada was my favorite, could have passed on the pollo asada and carnitas. wish the tortilla had more of a homemade char taste to it though. carne asada fries look good too, loaded with meat, guac, sour cream, cheese. hot sauce(red and green) is okay, but wish they had an orange one. as for the interior, it’s really clean inside and there’s multiple locations throughout San Diego. overall, would come here again if in the area and craving mexican food

I’ve been here here couple times already. One time it came out great and that burrito was huge… today, it looked like a 3 rolled tacos taped together. I also asked for extra meat, instead they give beans instead. She probably did not understand me even I said I wanted extra meat 4 times. I had a feeling repeating myself would mess it up. Overall experience. Disappointment…to a point where I did not eat their food. Customer service was good but she needs to listen to our order attentively. Bad bad bad. Will never go back unless they do things right. Portion sizing is very bad and small for $ 6.69 for a CarneAsada burrito. Also, it is overpriced. I would have expected a better looking burrito and bigger sized like the first time I was here. Must be an introductory burrito for me that day. We’ll here is your score card Burros and Fries…2 out of 5. For the people with high scores, glad things worked out well for you. I will tell you right now, I did as well for my first and second time. Today was an off day for this place. They need to be more generous for the price they ask for. Looking at a burrito filled with tortilla inside is not exactly what I expected today. Please please please… stop using a big tortilla on a small burrito… all my parents had was tortilla inside the burritos… Please get better. Sigh.

I stopped here on a taco Tuesday, only to learn that they do not have a taco Tuesday special, but that did not deter me from ordering some street tacos. In fact, I ordered two al pastor and one carnitas taco. Each taco cost $ 1.89. I was not disappointed with the quality of tacos. The carnitas taco was very good and came with tender morsels of shredded pork meat; pork meat that had a nice exterior crunchiness, but very moist and flavor well seasoned meat towards the center. Each taco came with a very good amount of guacamole and just the right amount of chopped onions and cilantro. I really like the fact that they double wrapped each taco in warm corn tortillas. The Al Pastor was my favorite because the chile flavor was on point. The pork meat not only had a bright red vibrant color, but it was very tender and with a nice exterior char that simply accentuated its flavor. I was very glad I bought two of these. They did not come with pieces of pineapple as some of these do, but that was okay with me. I just added some terrific salsa from their salsa bar, and I was set to go! I hope they do offer a Taco Tuesday special in the near future, but it would bold well from them and the community of Lemon Grove.
