Put your feet up & savor wood-​burning fireplaces & 2-​person jetted jacuzzi soaking tubs. We have 7 rooms on over 6 peaceful and serene acres, including a pet-​friendly Cottage. Located in woodsy setting, but just a few miles to the ocean, you’ll be in a perfect spot for short hops to downtown Mystic Connecticut, the Mystic Seaport & Mystic Aquarium, the hidden gem of Stonington Borough, Mohegan Sun Casino, and one of the most lovely beaches in New England «Watch Hill Beach.»

You can walk to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum (a Smithsonian affiliate) and enjoy miles of hiking right from our property including a hike to the top of scenic Lantern Hill from where you can get a view of Fishers Island Sound. You can also walk or take a $ 6 cab ride to Foxwoods MGM Casino where fun nightlife in the Shrine nightclub, High Rollers Bowling Lanes, and outlet shopping awaits.

A gourmet organic breakfast is free with your stay each morning. Can you smell the fresh-​ground coffee and French Toast? We’re a high-​tech inn with wireless internet, large flatscreen HDTVs, and portable Bluetooth speaker in every room, and an iPad for guest use. On the property enjoy our two bonfire pits, a gas grill & covered gathering place with hammocks perfect for a sunset glass of wine.

History

Established in 1992.

The inn was built and the business founded over 20 years ago by Thomas Nicholas, who as a former builder and remodeler, specialized in giving buildings an authentic historic and quality feel. He utilized reclaimed materials from local historic homes in order to give the inn tremendous character in its floors, doors, and trimwork. He believed in the environmental value of using reclaimed materials sourced locally long before it became in vogue to do so. There’s even a wonderful 15 foot long sign from an authentic general store in nearby New London gracing one of the inn’s rooms.

A lifelong resident of Southeastern CT, Erika has tremendous knowledge about the local area and loves sharing all the local hidden gems with her guests. Erika has been involved with the inn’s management for over 10 years, having worked with it’s founder prior to purchasing the business from him. The focus of Erika’s work at the inn is in making the guest experience the best it can be whether they’re at the inn or out exploring the local area.

As a former U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer who worked in Jamaica on coral reef preservation, Erika strongly believes in the importance of the natural environment and therefore has put great effort into incorporating a variety of green practices at the inn. Non-​toxic laundry and cleaning products are used as much as possible, kitchen waste is composted, energy conservation practices are in place, and healthy organic foods are offered to guests.

Erika enjoys traveling as much as you do. As a traveler she tries to anticipate your needs.

My wife and I stayed at the inn over NYE and it was a truly great experience. Erika (the owner and innkeeper) was very nice and extremely accommodating. The bedroom was uniquely decorated and very cozy with our own wood-​burning fireplace. The inn is also a mile or so from Foxwoods and about 15 minutes to Mystic, which was very convenient.
Overall, a great stay at Abbey’s and we will definitely be back next time we head up to the area.

Great place. Erika is very welcoming, and she is happy to help you plan your local activities. The breakfast is yummy. The Cottage is super cute and perfect for pups and their people. This is a nice place to escape the city.

My husband and i decided to look for a b&b near mystic for a quick getaway and we were very lucky to find Abbey’s. The inn keeper Erika was amazing and very accommodating as we only needed the room for one night. We stayed in the Southwest room. It was large & the décor was on point. The room had a fireplace, jacuzzi tub and its own patio. We had a very relaxing stay and the breakfast was amazing. Cant wait to go back again!

My boyfriend and I have stayed at the inn before and loved it!!! It’s super cute, clean, and in a great location. I used to live in West Hartford and know the area well, and it is definitely a great place since it’s close to everything in Mystic, and not too far from the beaches/​casinos. Very romantic, a great getaway! We already have our return visit booked!

We absolutely love Abbey’s and its owner, Erika. The property is beautiful and the rooms are just wonderful. We’ve visited 3 times and will be back again… and again. Erika pays great attention to detail. She always knows what’s going on around town and makes a great breakfast. She’s always welcoming and eager to make sure we have whatever we need. We especially love hanging out on the hammocks, barbecuing and making a bonfire.

Okay, so stay for the 3rd time at Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn and, Once again we were not disappointed. Abbey’s is so clean and comfortable. Erika is the sweetest and goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. This time we stayed in the Cadillac room which was very peaceful and relaxing. It has a nice oversize bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub to relax and unwind. There is also a nice private deck off the room to sit outside and enjoy a nice glass of wine or a drink. There is ample parking out front. Unsure of the area or what to do, no problem speak with Erika, she has great recommendations for the area!
So if you’re looking for total peace & relaxation, you’ve found it here! Erika is wonderful; I know you’ll enjoy meeting her and staying at this wonderful Inn.

Abbey’s is an awesome getaway for a night or a bunch of nights, especially if you have a dog. «The Cottage» has a fenced in back yard so you can let your dog out early in the morning or sit at the private table and chair to drink your morning coffee in the sunshine. Erica is more then pleasant to be around and very helpful. She offered us some wine glasses when we arrived and when I asked for some extra towels, that was not a problem, along with some extra shampoo. In the morning, we went over to her kitchen /​dining room at the main house and she had all organic milk, cream, cereals, for our week day breakfast, but if we wanted some eggs or something else she was more then happy to comply. We’re not breakfast eaters, but when we found a place to stay near Foxwoods that would let us take dogs, we really found the perfect spot. The Cottage was private and so nicely decorated, along with a thick comfy mattress and comforter. Since there was snow on the ground, I put my sodas in the snow overnight since there was no refrigerator or microwave, but I was told I could use the one in the main kitchen.
Outside there is a fire pit and plenty of places to go for a walk with the dog. Erica did tell me she’s trying to make a walking trail out the back that would go for miles, but she needed the town’s okay to build a couple bridges. However, we went for a long woodsy walk out behind Two Trees Inn where there is a dog walk that is just down street from Abbey’s, close to Foxwoods.
Abbey’s is perfect. My first time at a bed and breakfast, I don’t think I’d want to stay in a hotel again with having people coming and going all through the night, coming back tipsy and loud; Abbey’s is quiet, peaceful and safe. I had no problem leaving my dog there while we went to Foxwoods. I would think if he barked too much, Erica should have called, but she did not hear him once.
We’ll be returning again Erica! Thanks for the great experience and meeting you. Like everyone mentioned, you’re a sweetheart and helpful with the surrounding areas.

Amazing, Relaxing, Beautiful B&B!
A day after my husband and I got married a few weekends ago, we decided to take a «puppymoon,» since our dog had to be boarded at daycare for the night for our wedding on Saturday night and since I’m starting law school in a week, we decided to wait until December to go on our full honeymoon. I researched dog-​friendly bed and breakfasts and hotels in dog-​friendly areas and Mystic kept coming up (I’d been there on a school trip as a kid to the seaport). Both Mystic itself and Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn looked SO dog-​friendly and I couldn’t get over how cute and quaint Abbey’s looked! I booked it ASAP and let me tell you — it did NOT disappoint! Sometimes it’s hard to tell how things will look from pictures but believe it or not the photos don’t even do Abbey’s justice for it’s beauty and sweetness!
We stayed in the Cottage (the only dog friendly room — although the other rooms looked gorgeous as well!) and everything was perfect! It was my first time at a B&B and let me tell you I will definitely be coming back to B&Bs in generally and CERTAINLY back to Abbey’s! Erika, the owner, is quite possibly the sweetest, most accommodating person you’ll ever meet. She helped us with everything we needed with a big smile, showing us the special dog welcome treats, bowl and «bathroom bags.» She took time to take us through maps of Mystic and Ledyard and to make recommendations for great food where puppies are allowed to join! We even got complimentary tickets to an attraction (we chose the Seaport) because of the off-​nights we stayed (Monday — Wednesday). What an extra treat!
Our pup had an amazing time — so did we! The bed was oh-​so comfortable, I fell asleep immediately for a nap when we got there! The décor is gorgeous and the back patio (fenced in for puppies!) was great! And our dog LOVED going on walks around the grounds. The grounds are GORGEOUS!
I absolutely loved Abbey’s! If you’re looking for a place to go with your dog, or sans-​pooch too (some rooms have jacuzzis!) for some beautiful sights, relaxing days, peaceful nights, and the most delicious coffee I’ve ever tasted (I’ll have to ask Erika what it is), run don’t walk to Abbey’s! Well, book first, but you get the point!

We just spent a wonderful, relaxing 3 nights at Abbey’s Lantern Inn. My husband and I and our dog stayed in the Cottage. It’s like your own apartment — a large room with roomy bathroom, wonderfully soft towels, a fenced in backyard with table and chairs as well as a romantic lighted side deck with a small table and chairs. The grounds are just breathtaking and include a covered deck with comfortable chairs and a fire pit with adirondack chairs. Erika serves a delicious breakfast and is a gracious hostess. Everything about the Inn is comfortable and cozy. There is plenty to see and do in the area. We look forward to spending time there again soon.

What a beautiful room we stayed in (fireplace, cozy décor). The whole Inn is beautifully kept and very relaxing atmosphere. Erika gave us some great recommendations for things to do in the area and great restaurants nearby. Loved the outdoor fire pit and romantically lighted grounds. Will definitely stay here again.

Absolutely perfect! The location could not be any better. Just a couple minutes away from a huge casino and yet Abbeys is in a rural, quiet, scenic location. It took us about 6 minutes to drive into the heart of mystic. Aside from the location, Erica was just great! She recommend an awesome restaurant for me and my boyfriend to have dinner. She also told us a scenic road to drive down into mystic. We chose the Cadillac suite and It was perfect. It was on a separate floor, had a separate patio, amazing bathtub, and super comfy bed! We will definitely be back.

This Inn is wonderful! The grounds are really beautiful, it is super relaxing and charming and the breakfast was outstanding! Erika makes you feel really welcome and she is really low key. I highly recommend this Inn. Also, if you can stay in the room with the whirlpool jet tub, it’s totally worth it. I slept so well that night after I went in! :)

I just spent an amazing weekend at the inn. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and there for you to enjoy. We grilled and had a fire one night.
We stayed in the cottage because we brought our dog. It was very clean and very comfortable. Our pup Tessie loved the fenced in patio. Erika who runs the inn was great, and told us to run the dog around the yard.
The bed and bedding were country comfy.
Every morning we got up for a fresh cup of joe and a pastry. Next we had blueberry pancakes, fresh fruit salad, eggs, and sausage. Not to mention all the great cereals and teas.
It was a great weekend gateway, with all the comforts of home.

This place was beautiful, clean and cozy but I remain underwhelmed. Let me start with the warning– there is NO BREAKFAST on weekdays. I was not made aware of this and to be honest, without it the $ 150 price tag seemed a bit unreasonable. If you are there on the weekend, I heard the food is delicious, but the whole thing rubbed me the wrong way. I couldn’t help but feel that this detail should have been made clear upon booking a weeknight stay.
THE GOOD: It’s adorable, lots of grass and trees, lovely deck, complimentary soda and juice, and helpful restaurant tips from our hostess.
THE BAD: I can’t get past a bed & breakfast with no breakfast. Maybe it’s just me…

Abbey’s Lantern Hill In is simply lovely and relaxing… as a B&B should be. Me and my bf stayed in the Cottage which is detached from the main house and had a wonderful stay. Due to horrendous (holiday) traffic we were almost 3 hours late and our lovely host Erica was so gracious when we arrived. She even loaned us an ipad since the cable wasn’t working.
The Cottage is sweet, the décor is nautical (lots of blues, plaids, whites). There is a private enclosed patio which we didn’t really use since the weather was cold.
Each morning we walked over to the kitchen for light breakfast fare (cereal, fruit, snack bars) and yummy coffee!
We needed a relaxing, romantic, enjoyable weekend away from NYC and this place was perfect for it! Plus the prices are so reasonable. The entire grounds are well kept and very eco-​friendly, will definitely be back soon.

Just stayed in the Southwest room, loved it. The décor of the room is great and I love the whirlpool tub and fireplace. Soft comforter, nice towels. Erika is very nice and helpful. It is nice to see an owner show such an interest in their business and really wanting everyone to be happy there. I love the eco friendly vibe here with the food and even the shampoo. The location is good, just out of the way to be quiet but very close to Mystic and the casinos. This would be a nice place to be in the summer with the seating area outside and the deck. I’ve stayed at many B&B’s and this is one of the better ones. I look forward to going back sometime.

This was our second trip to Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn which was even better than the first. This trip we stayed in the Cadillac Room which we fell in love with. Lots of closet space, huge bathroom and a private balcony where u can lay and watch the stars at night… I was lucky to spot my 1st shooting star.
Hostess Erika is always great, friendly and helpful. Always very informative and always has good suggestions on activities.
We will definitely be returning again.

We recently had a fabulous time at Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn. We took our two puppies and stayed in the immaculate and charming cottage (Château Eve). The cottage had a fenced backyard for the puppies (which they loved) and a side-​deck with party lights and a bistro table. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had a television and a couch and refrigerator and a good-​sized bathroom.
The service was excellent. Erika greeted us with a big smile and offered us champagne glasses when she showed us our room. She prepared fantastic and healthy breakfasts (organic eggs, milk, plantains, and turkey bacon). Additionally, her knowledge of the local area provided us with four great ideas for hikes and nature walks with the dogs.
Although the Inn is very close to Foxwoods (literally around the corner) it has a charming wooded setting (we saw deer in the backyard). We can’t speak highly enough of this charming, lovely Bed and Breakfast.
Perfect for: romantic getaways, children, and pets.

I discovered Abbey’s after googling «hotels near Foxwoods» and it came up through an
portal. What a great discovery I made, this place was fantastic. You could literally walk to Foxwoods in under 5 minutes from this Bed & Breakfast. There are several different rooms here I believe most are in the main building with a few others completely separate, our room was in the main building but I felt there was plenty of privacy. We stayed in the Downeast room which had a shared deck and your own personal fireplace and private bathroom and shower, very nice. The place was clean and comfortable as well. The prices here are very reasonable ($ 140 with taxes for our room) and another big appeal to this place is that Foxwoods had been sold out for the Saturday night we were looking at and they still had rooms available the Thursday before. Another great little bonus was the breakfast the manager/​owner made in the morning, she gave us the option of eggs or french toast (or both) with turkey bacon and a large selection of pastries. We both went for the french toast which she made with a fresh baguette, the bacon was great too. She even has an organic garden in the backyard! I highly recommend this B&B is you’re in the Foxwoods area.
