Glacé Artisan Ice Cream

Fantastic ice cream shop! Real flavors and smooth, creamy textures… definitely a great place and one to return to! Prices are also solid and value is decent, especially for Leawood. Not quite as good as the best gelato spots, but worth a trip. Try the dark chocolate and peanut butter!

Yummy, low-​calorie snack. Some vegan favors available. Order something offbeat (like cracked pepper or cucumber melon), it’s kind of their thing.

Nice little ice cream shop. The flavored are accurate to what they represent — I was surprised at the salted pretzel which was spot on. I ended up selecting the Chai flavor. It was very good, and my only regret is that I didn’t get it in a cone.

I just walked into the south location at 915pm and the sales girl was super rude! They changed their hours, but she didn’t keep the door locked, so when I walked in she said «oh we’re closed» and since all the ice team was put away, I asked if she could just please sell me some pints from their prepared ice cream section in the mini fridge and she said «sorry I just closed the register, bye!»
Their ice cream is AMAZING and I only get to have this place twice a year when I visit from LA, but this experience literally put a bad taste in my mouth.
Hopefully not all their employees are like this girl.

I wish I’d gotten the name of the young woman working here– she was so super sweet. She also does hair and she gave me some good product recommendations when we got to talking about curls. We curly haired people stick together and help each other out!
Anyway– back to the actual store that I’m reviewing!- I’d been to the Glacé near the Plaza and this one is very similar– maybe a bit more room to sit inside, plus some chairs and benches outside. It’s very clean and inviting and the ice cream flavors are so fun and inventive. You can try samples of anything.
The cups and scoops look on the small side, but the ice cream is very rich and dense– you’re getting more than you think you are! You can get one, two, or three scoops. My daughter and I each got 3, and it was almost too much! In fact, by the time dinner rolled around a few hours later, we weren’t even hungry. At first the nearly $ 10 price tag for our 6 scoops seemed steep, but for a very filling, satisfying, delicious (too bad it’s not low calorie!) snack– it’s totally worth it.

I had coffee and dark chocolate, and hubs had salted pretzel. Delish! Say outside overlooking the beautiful fountains enjoying the ambiance of Town Center Crossing. Wonderful.

DELICIOUS. I typically don’t like cherry flavored food, but the goat cheese cherry ice cream was delicious. I could eat a whole pint of it… Toasted coconut was also very good. Was not a fan of the coffee lemon, at all. If I went back to Kansas, this is one place I’d drive out if my way to visit again!

This is a fun and local shop to stop in, especially on a warm summer day. My friend and I both opted for floats, which were delicious. Fun flavors, support local!

The ice cream here was very delicious and unique! The blackberry with chocolate flake was wonderful.

Really great ice cream. I love their salted caramel ice cream. I tried it mixed with the coffee and it was fantastic.
It’s on the pricey side, but you should expect that going to a place like this.

Fair warning: if you sample the salted pretzel before the blueberry crisp, you won’t be able to taste the latter. It might be my tastebuds, or it just might be the fact that the blueberry crisp is incredibly mild in comparison to the pretzel.
I went with the ol’ standby (coffee), but paired it with the salted caramel, which, yep: was pretty salty (for ice cream). Happy with my choice, but not so sure about the size. Two scoops was more than enough for two people; and for $ 4, it’s seriously a steal.

I came here on a online date and loved the place. I had a root beer float with the Madagascar vanilla ice cream. It was delicious. I throughly enjoyed my food much more than my date. I will be back but with friends instead of strange men from OK Cupid that had home done tattoos. Eek. I also might venture out and try some of the crazy flavors.

While waiting for some repairs to be finished at the Apple store, my dad and I sauntered over to this place to snack during our wait. We were amused by the flavor choices: some of them seemed crazy. But all of our doubts disintegrated when we took our first spoons of the fleur de sel caramel ice cream. WOW! Delicious combo of salt and sugar and very creamy, but not filmy. Seriously quality ice cream, and the nice guy behind the counter told us they make their ice creams downtown-​even better!
After this, we returned again for the next 3 weekends, we liked it that much. My favorite flavors were the f.d.s caramel, goat cheese and honey, my sister loved the salted pretzel and my dad loved their pecan one. The pecan one wasn’t skimpy on the nuts. I wanted to come back this weekend too but I had to restrain myself.
Modern but small with not a lot of seating, kind of a place to grab a cup and maybe walk around the area or head out.
It is pricey, but considering their location in a popular plaza, I don’t mind it too much. Their place was pretty easy to ignore, since their sign and storefront is so small but that just leaves more ice cream for me }:)

Some reviewers are crazy, this place should only only only get 555 555 stars. I will not be able to live without this place. For me, the food always out weights the service or décor or anything else. This place is amazing and never disappoints. The people working there are always slightly corky and awkward. However, always always always nice and polite so I always feel welcome (cause sometimes I visit twice a weekend and make my husband go in by himself so that they don’t think I am addicted to this place).
Okay enough about me, lets focus on the ice cream. I love the interesting flavors and always in season. The flavors are very strong so I cannot eat more than a small. Therefore, I always get the pints home. I will review my favorite flavors below.
–banana foster: lovvvvvve even thought I am not a big banana fan. We always get this due to my husband’s love for anything banana. The flavor is exactly what is stated in the name. If you love banana, get it or you will regret it.
–fleur de sel caramel: it is just sooo gooood. Great strong taste of caramel with nice sea salt flavor.
–madagascar vanilla: this is the bessstttttt vanilla you can ever get. Think of your favorite vanilla icr cream, times that by 100 000.
–Anything chocolate: hello the master chocolate maker Christopher Elbow is the owner, anything chocolate is amazingggggg
–salted pretzel: this might sound gross but it is like kettle popcorn flavor. Salty and sweet, very very addicting.
–caramel apple: not that great but you can taste the apples and caramel. Maybe I just was not in the mood for it
–spiced pumpkin: yummmmmmm, just like pumpkin.
Overall cocnsluson: I think this place is a hidden gem of KC. Amazing ice cream that everyone should visit once.

This place is amazing!!! I sometimes worry with «artisan» ice creams that they get too carried away with doing unique flavors and forget to simply make delicious ice cream. But this place does it right! Lots of interesting flavors to choose from and they’re so creamy and smooth!
My husband and I tried numerous flavors! My favorites were Chai Tea, Dark Chocolate Orange and Broadway Coffee. His were Indonesian Cinnamon and Peanut Butter Chocolate Flake. Check this place out!

My first visit to the Glacé location on Main street near my hotel had opened my eyes to artisan ice cream, but could each branch of the creamery maintain the same high standards as the one I had visited? Purely for the sake of scientific curiosity, I decided to find out.
This go-​round elicited a scoop each of spiced dark chocolate and spiced pumpkin (it’s that autumny, Octobery sort of time, you know). The chocolate was full and rich, with a hint of cayenne at the tail end, and just enough sweet cinnamon to balance the depth of the cocoa. Pumpkin is all the rage these days, and Glacé improved on the usual pumpkin pie flavorings of nutmeg and cinnamon with a custardy backdrop and the perfect creaminess.
Experiment concluded, equation and verdict: Glacé + tongue = euphoria.

Love this ice cream gem. Weird flavors, delicious, creamy, not overly fatty goodness. I hate ice cream that is so high in fat it leaves a film in your mouth (Cold Stone Creamery). This ice cream is delightful and it is so fun to try new flavors!

You simply cannot go wrong with this place, unless you despise things that are delicious. Or perhaps if you have a sensitivity to cold food items, this might not be your top choice. But even so, I would still suggest trying it out. Just order something, & let it melt a bit before diving in.
I can speak for the dairy-​based ice creams per the voices of the many friends and family who I have taken to one or both locations to try the frozen delights. Everyone has been thrilled with their choices, and even had some difficulty choosing once they sampled the options (which there are a ton of).
I personally stick with the sorbet, which there are usually 3 – 4 rotating flavors per week. Almost always something creative, and possibly something you have not thought to try yourself (in regards to flavor combinations).
I have never been disappointed with the product, level of service, or overall experience when visiting this location. If I am going to be out in Leawood, visiting friends, or hitting up the nearby Whole Foods or Trader Joes, it seems like a logical decision to also stop by for a little frozen treat.

Absolutely delicious and a real treat. My favorite flavors continue to be lavender vanilla and sweet corn. The sweet corn literally tastes like the liquids of a can of corn, and I cannot get enough!!! I’m the type of corn obsessor who will eat corn straight out of a can, so no doubt, I knew that would become a quick favorite. I have also tried the goat cheese and honey, but the aftertaste lingered and tasted like the smell of a goat pin. Too goaty for my taste. It’s a bit pricy for a scoop of ice cream, but then again. We are in Leawood, and we are eating flavors such as sweet corn.

It’s very good ice cream. Probably the creamiest I’ve ever had. Just something odd and uninviting about their store. It’s so sterile. If you want to just walk in, buy a scoop and get out, it’s a great place with awesome ice cream. If I was a kid I’d have a hard time liking this place or remembering it.
Not worth going out of your way to come here.

After seeing her weekly check in, I finally had to find out what it is all about. I am not a huge dessert/​sweets person, so sometimes these paces are hard to wrap my head around. Glacé wasn’t though, it made total sense!
You can try any of the flavors before you commit to them. This is a huge plus because some of the flavors sound a little questionable, but I can tell you, the goat cheese and beet is a win! So is the salted pretzel. The biggest win though was the caramel pecan. Sorry Jen they didn’t have any basil orange sorbet so I couldn’t try it. :(
If you like ice cream you will love Glacé. The pug wasn’t happy though because they didn’t have any flavors that seemed pet friendly. The looks I got eating ice cream in front of him… If you don’t hear from me in a few days, the pug got me in my sleep!
