Specialties
Austin Reptile Shows offers live reptile presentations for birthday parties, classrooms, assemblies, scout groups, fund raisers, after school and summer programs. We also offer after school enrichment classes through local school districts as well as special multi-session programs.
Our approach revolves around 1 simple concept: education through exciting, up-close contact! Kids will experience live reptiles from around the world in a safe, secure environment.
Our classroom and assembly shows have an added bonus: TEKS-aligned content! We designed our core presentation around the K-5 TEKS to enhance and illustrate the information being presented in the classroom for maximum educational impact.
History
Established in 2008.
Austin Reptile Shows began in 2008 when we volunteered to do a small live presentation of several reptiles to the second grade classes at Caraway Elementary School in Austin for an animal unit lesson. The program was a hit!
Soon we were getting more requests from Caraway and other schools. As demand for our shows grew, we added more programs, more animals and our popular reptile birthday parties.
We now work with numerous organizations including various school districts, YMCA, 4-H, libraries, scout groups and more.
We recently added Discovering Reptiles after school enrichment classes to our lineup and are currently working on other VERY exciting new programs.
Meet the Business Owner
Michael F.
Business Owner
Michael has studied and kept reptiles almost continuously since about 1980 when he was five years old. Throughout his school years, Michael brought all sorts of animals, especially reptiles and amphibians, into his classes. He eventually pursued a career as a graphic designer, but almost always had some sort of reptiles as pets. After marrying Christie, a second grade teacher and no stranger to reptiles herself, Michael found himself back in the classroom sharing his passion for snakes, lizards and turtles with a new generation of children. Feeling a new calling, he decided to put his graphic design career on hold to focus on teaching kids and adults about the rich diversity in the reptile world and the importance of these creatures in our environment.
Michael currently operates Austin Reptile Shows full time and does graphic design work part time for a small group of clients.
