Signature Women’s Healthcare

I recently had my annual exam with Dr. Jacquline Hayles-​Patterson. I like Dr. Patterson. She’s obviously knowledgeable in her field. I have some atypical medical conditions and allergies, and thus have pretty unique questions and concerns when I see a doctor. Dr. Patterson was able to help me with all my questions, and even took a few extra minutes to look up answers on the computer for me. She wanted to be absolutely certain she wasn’t giving me misinformation.
My only complaints lie with the office staff and organization. I requested the first available appointment for my annual pap exam; I had to wait 6 weeks. When I called to schedule this appointment, the phone call lasted over 30 minutes because the woman I spoke with isn’t a native English speaker. I spelled my name phonetically 6 times («A as in apple, B as in bear») and she still didn’t get it right. Consequently, medical history forms were never emailed to me before the appointment.
I showed up extra early to fill out the forms that should have already been emailed to me. Despite being clearly stretched too thin, the receptionist was more than helpful and apologetic while deciphering which butchered name on the schedule was me. He kept a smile on his face the whole time and set me up at a waiting room computer to complete my patient history. I would have preferred to do this calmly in the privacy of my own home, not rushed in a public space typing my health and sexual history at a desk while my back and the computer screen faces a cramped room full of strangers. I don’t think I can fairly judge wait time based on my personal experience, but it looked like the other women were in the waiting room maybe 30 minutes before getting taken back.
Aside from the communication blunder and waiting room computer privacy that needs to be re-​evaluated, everything went ok. The exam seemed pretty standard, everything was clean, Dr. Patterson was informative and brief. People complain alot about doctor etiquette and relationships, but ultimately I can for a clean/​safe exam and that’s what I got. I just wish the support staff could be as efficient as Dr. Patterson.
Edit: Also, this is the first women’s clinic I’ve been to that doesn’t have a mirror in the exam room so a patient can redress after the appointment. It’s no reason to deduct stars from the review. It just seemed odd to me.
Edit: After having an annual and two follow up appointments I should probably mention that this office regularly works with medical students. They never touch anything; they usually stand in the corner and observe while wearing a nervous expression. One time, the student got to ask me the initial questions while the doctor was present and occasionally corrected her. You can always refuse to allow the student in the room if it makes you uncomfortable.
