Description

Specialties

A Habitat ReStore is a facility that supports the services provided by its local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. The income generated from the project goes specifically toward expanding the building program of the local Habitat affiliate. ReStores recycle overstocked, discontinued, new, and used building materials donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. These donated items are sold to the public or used in construction of Habitat houses. All revenue from sales goes to the local affiliate in support of its building program.

History

Established in 2005.

The ReStore initially opened on 800 Comet Lane, off 6th Street, in 2005. We moved to our present location in April 2009. There are approximately 800 ReStores across the U.S. All ReStores are directly connected to the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in it’s vicinity-not all affiliates have a ReStore.

Meet the Manager

Michele J.

Manager

Michele became the ReStore Manager in August 2009. She and her husband grew up in Lawrence and have 3 grown children, as well as one wonderful grandson. She loves to visit with customers, donors, and volunteers and appreciates all that help us with our mission of raising funds to build affordable Habitat homes in the Lawrence area. Her own home was recently completed just north of town. She used many building materials that were purchased from the ReStore. This helped her own budget, helped Habitat, and helped the environment by keeping this material from the landfill, all in one action.
