We are so thankful to have found JLM. We needed an air quality check in our home after a positive asbestos test and thankfully Jon was able to come out quickly, took samples and surveyed the home. He was very informative and helpful with suggestions on our situation. We were told that we would have results the next afternoon so I was very surprised when I got a call from Steve later on that day that they had fast tracked our samples and we were all clear to go back in the home. Steve was also great with answering all of of questions and concerns. We are so thankful for everyone at JLM and now have their full report on suggested things to get done as well as the peace of mind that we don’t have to be afraid to breath in our own home.

Great job by Jon for my post-​asbestos abatement inspection. He was extremely informative over the phone before coming out to the house, and was right on time for the inspection. Jon took great care in conducting a thorough inspection, and verified that the asbestos abatement was done correctly. Jon also took air samples and provided an air clearance report the following day to give me peace of mind that we were breathing in clean healthy air. Jon answered every question I had, and even when I called the office with another question, his partner Steve was also very helpful in providing answers to all my questions. Only regret is I wish I had called JLM to be there during the abatement so they could make sure things were done right. But still very satisfied knowing that I have JLM’s seal of approval for the abatement job, and would recommend them to anyone looking for an honest and professional company to conduct an asbestos inspection.

JLM is an average company in my opinion. I’m in no way trying to bash them on their service, but I wanted to post this review since it was my honest experience.
I bought a place that I wanted to make some major renovations to. We had an initial home inspection done as per normal closing procedures. Once we got around to the renos, we figured we’d need abatement, since the place was built in the 60’s. I called JLM after looking through Unilocal.They charge $ 250 to come out and $ 25 a sample — not bad.
A gentleman came out and was very friendly, punctual, and personable. I explained what we were doing and he took samples of areas that I had directed him to as per the home inspection. As we went through, I noticed another area in which I wanted samples (popcorn finish on a wall in the garage, not the ceiling). He told me its $ 25 a sample and I was happy to oblige 2 more samples. He didn’t recommend to inspect any other areas, and as I found out, he was more of the «general» home inspector and had partnered with the owner to increase their capacity (again, fine with me).
My main rant is that after the actual abatement (which another company has to do per conflict of interest), it was mentioned that there may be asbestos in the drywall. I emailed JLM, inquired about this, and the owner actually RECOMMENDED I get it tested (he said there’s a 50⁄50 chance of asbestos present). I asked why this wasn’t covered in the inspection. He responded «because it was never mentioned to the inspector». A «limited» survey was conducted was the response.
Ok, I thought you guys were the experts here — what else am I paying for with $ 250 site visit fee? Now I’m wondering if the inspector that had come out was even qualified/​experienced to do such samples. I don’t want to be the one to tell you how to run your business, but as the customer, I would think the onus shouldn’t be on me to point out what other items should or could be inspected for additional asbestos. I would have been willing to take as many samples as needed on the first time around. Now you are suggesting coming out again, re-​sampling, and then potentially rescheduling another abatement (which is a way more costly job in terms of money and time)? Unbelievable.
So, in an effort to work things out, the owner said they could come out again — this time for $ 200 plus $ 25/​sample, but they could give me a $ 200 discount if I went with a $ 250 lead paint sampling service. So basically $ 250 to come out and $ 25 a sample… hmm sounds like no discount or effort to acknowledge my dilemma.
JLM is an average company in my opinion. They will do what you tell them to do, I suggest doing all the research you can, as you are not paying for any industry expertise or consultation. That day in speaking with the inspector, your business is booming, so thank you for your business and I wish you good luck in the future.

JLM was recommended to me and I was very happy with their services. Steve did a great job explaining everything to me with regards to asbestos testing I wanted to have done. They set up an appt fast, showed up on time, Dean was so great on site-(he even waited ½ hour outside with us since we had an issue with the lock box timer), it cost exactly what they told me over the phone and I got the report when they said I would. Overall, top notch service!

JLM was one of 6 companies I called for quotes on a possible mold issue in our home. Having multiple kids in the house, I wanted to make sure that we were safe and free from air contaminates. This company stood out from all the others even from the first phone call. I talked to Steve and he was knowledgable, trustworthy and reasonable. It was helpful that he wasn’t trying to up sell anything and I could relax and just ask all the questions and receive easy to understand responses.
Jon Massey is the Inspector that came out four days later. I really appreciated the quick response on scheduling. He showed up right on time and explained exactly what he planned to do. He was efficient and thorough, which I greatly appreciated. He took the time to answer any questions I had in a very patient manner. We had some work done several months back and Jon had to break some bad news about poor labor and he was thoughtful when doing so.
I can definitely recommend this company. Honesty goes a long way with me and these guys are it!

My wife and I recently bought a house in Orange County and wanted to have it inspected for asbestos and other harmful elements (with 1 infant, and another on the way, you can never be too safe).
We found JLM Environmental online, went to their website, then checked out their Unilocal profile to see how other customer’s experiences had been with them. And sure enough, we had the same great experience! We had to reschedule once, and they were happy to accommodate our hectic schedule.
Jon was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful on the phone, and even more so when he came to our house for the inspection. We’ll absolutely use JLM Environmental again in the future and 100% recommend them to anybody looking for inspection services in Orange County or Los Angeles!

Wow, what a waste of my money. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but this was just bad. Came off very limited on mold knowledge, I had to remind him numerous times to look at other area/​rooms/​structures — it was like it was his first time at the pony ranch or something. I’m pretty sure the guy was stoned.
What pisses me off the most is that when I was sent my final inspection report, he CC’s some other (supposively) different company in the email to do the work. Scam? Smells like it. The «other» company replies within an hour with a ridiculous estimate of the work needed. So in an hour, a company has already read through the inspection with an accurate statement of work. Smells fishy — beware.

Amazing customer service!
Called JLM as I had been herding quotes on mold problems we were having. Spoke with Jon, 100% professional. Jon first off explained to me the process of mold and or how they achieve their results through their reporting methods. After I felt that Jon took the time to explain this to me, I knew JLM was the right business for the job. With 24 hours Jon himself came out, inspected the property prepared a report and offered solutions (not just one) but several with cost effectiveness in mind.
He and his staff completely assuaged my fears and helped us get done what we needed to with minimal cost. Thank you Jon and JLM!

JLM was great!
I found them on Unilocal and immediately called to get an estimate. Jon was very helpful on the phone about what his business does and his survey was by far the least expensive. I had gotten other quotes for $ 450-​$ 550, but Jon’s fee was only $ 250! Plus he gives a detailed 5 page report. His samples are not included but they are $ 25 a piece (for pieces of popcorn ceiling, plaster or any flooring tile) and $ 50 a piece for air samples. We booked them right away so we could get a piece of mind in our house!
Dustin came to do the survey, and these guys only do survey, not the actual abatement. Which I thought was really honest because they can’t really sell you any product/​services, like some other companies do. Conflict of interest, Dustin said. Dustin was on time (actually even a little early). He was very detailed in all his explanations and was happy to answer all of our questions (we had quite a few). He took two air samples in our house and several samples of the ceiling/​plaster. The whole process took about an hour.
In 2 days, I got a full report and analysis from Jon via email. And we were honestly really surprised and relieved by the results. We were sure we bought an asbestos ridden house since it was built in the 1900s. I would definitely recommend these guys for any first time home buyer who is worried about any asbestos or lead.
