I had a smallish job, about 1.5 bedrooms worth of stuff, to be moved from Catonsville to Columbia. They quoted me a good rate and said they thought it would be about two hours. On moving day, the guys showed up early (fine by me). They were friendly and very efficient. Some of the furniture was antique and they took special care to secure this stuff in the truck. They went just over two hours, but didn’t charge me for extra time, which I thought was really nice. These guys really helped me out, were friendly, and I feel like the price was very good for the service I got.

Just used them for a local move. Guys were great, quick, and courteous. Would definitely use them again!

I was late scheduling my movers and was able to get a quote and ideal time with Maxon. They showed up not only on time but early. They were polite, friendly, hard-​working and I don’t think I saw them stop once. Everything was well-​packed and arrived without damage. They disassembled and reassembled the bed, which was very nice.
We had pre-​purchased tubs and boxes to make things easier, but had to purchase tape from them. The quote I got before the move outlined the prices of what we would pay if we bought supplies from them, so no surprises there. I would say the final bill was about if not slightly under what we had budgeted.
I would absolutely use them again.

I never post reviews regardless of how good or bad the service was. However, here I had to make an exception. This company just handled my move from Maryland to Pennsylvania. They were beyond outstanding! From start to finish, their work was superb. They had the best price we could find (and we spoke to probably a dozen movers.) For the price, I just assumed we would be cutting corners on quality. However, they were the MOST careful, hard-​working, considerate, and thorough movers I have ever encountered. I did not have any luck with movers in the past (they always ended up scratching something or adding on additional fees at the end.) This company did not do that at all. Our boxes and furniture were meticulously cared for, and they are also wonderfully nice people. I seriously could not recommend them highly enough. We will never use anyone else for our moving needs, and I’ve already recommended them to our realtor for her future clients.

They did my move in Jan. 2015. It was the same amount of stuff they had moved a year sooner, but it cost more than double. Maybe it was because I had a lot of boxes, and the guys moved them in ONE AT A TIME. Hello, there’s an invention called a hand truck, that allows for moving multiple boxes at once. I had colored tape with the rooms on it that they completely ignored, instead just placing the boxes at random within the house. Maybe they can’t read English. If it were possible to buy that tape printed in Spanish and Russian, I would, but it doesn’t exist.
AND, as a cherry on the top of a bad move sundae, one of their movers groped me during the move. It was pretty deliberate, I’m positive it wasn’t an accident. If you are a woman, you really don’t want to deal with their guys.
Fortunately, this was a move from a rental to a house I bought, so maybe I’ll never have to move again.

On a scale of 1 to 5, my experience with Maxon movers was a 6. This is a family business and it shows in every detail from the scheduling process through the thoughtful consideration in handling each piece of furniture. There is a pride in a job well done which reflects on this family in the most positive way. I was very worried about some extremely heavy but delicate family pieces and the owner was understanding and extremely considerate guiding me through the protection for each one.
At the end of the move, set up was carefully and thoroughly done. After comparisons from other movers, I found Maxon to be a value economically as well. This is a great moving company.

Maxon provided a great price and exceptional service. The movers showed up as scheduled. They were very professional and courteous. They made an otherwise stressful day smooth and painless.
**make sure you have all items boxed and ready to go. Disassembling pieces of furniture ahead of time helps too.
**like the other reviews said as well, buy a package of packing tape. Otherwise they’ll charge you per roll to secure furniture pads.
They moved my belongings from point A to point B with no damage incurred. Highly recommended.

Arrived right on time for my move! I used them to move an 830 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment about 3 miles away to a 2-​story townhouse. I chose them because of the great reviews on Unilocal and their prices being lower than the other companies I received quotes from. A couple tips for you future clients though:
1) Buy a pack of tape from Walmart or something ahead of your move for these guys to use because it’s $ 5 per roll of their tape and they used A LOT of tape (7 rolls!).
2) We went 1.5 hours over the estimated move time and I had already moved quite a few things myself, so I would definitely recommend you take apart everything you can think of ahead of time (tables, bookshelves… they even took the sofa covers off.) I’m not sure what else I could have done to speed things up.
In short, all my interactions with Maxon Movers were very professional and friendly! I felt comfortable with them and it was a pleasant experience.

We hired Maxon movers recently, and they did a fantastic job. They showed up on time and immediately got to work. They wrapped furniture to protect it, and even disassembled things like Ikea furniture for us and reassembled it at the new house. Best of all, their quote came in at a fraction of what other companies quoted us.

We moved the weekend of March 22 and hired Maxon for our 32-​mile move from the D.C. metro to the Baltimore metro. We had Max and his buddy for our move and they were nothing short of excellent. They arrived early and starting wrapping our furniture right away. They maintained professional, sincere, and helpful attitudes the entire time. It took over 5 hours and they don’t fool around. All work, no play. Furniture was protected and unscathed. I hired Maxon because of their affordability compared to others in the area. If there’s any mover worth every penny you spend, these are the guys.

Excellent service, prompt arrival and very hardworking crew.
Took great care of my belongings and turned what would have been a weekend (or more) of hell into a five hour Tuesday job.

Maxon is the best. Twice they’ve moved me in the Annapolis area and twice the service has been excellent.
Anyone who has moved knows that plans fail early and often. The worth of a moving company is in how they handle those failures. Maxon has consistently been able to pull victory from the jaws of defeat no matter how time consuming or annoying the moving difficulties.
I trust these guys with my stuff and will definitely use them again the next time I move.

I recently used Maxon Movers for my local move and was very impressed with their services. From the time of booking until everything was unloaded into my new place, they were professional, friendly, and lived up to the other outstanding reviews on here. They were also very affordable! Better yet, they showed up 10 minutes early for the moving day! I went over my allotted time by a half hour and if I could do it again, I would have made sure everything was taken apart for them to save time. However, nothing was broken, scratched, or damaged. I had a very positive experience with this company. When I asked around for prices for labor/​loading help, they had the cheapest price around of the reputable companies. They also honored the voucher when I mentioned
. The movers arrived on time; they were friendly and professional. They efficiently loaded my van and I was on my way in no time. They took very good care of my property. The only thing I wished was that they had called to confirm our appointment the day before or something to reassure me that they were indeed going to keep our appointment.

I got a great deal by using a Unilocal discount. They were super prompt and accommodating. I called them the day of the move and told them that I would be running 30 minutes late and they easily changed my time at no extra cost.
The movers were professional when they arrived. They amazed me by how quickly and efficiently they moved everything. There was 30 minutes left when they were done with all of the unloading and offered to make themselves useful with their time.
Unlike other companies I called, it was a 2 hour minimum instead of 3.

I was searching online for a reasonably priced moving company to move furniture from my 2 bed apartment to my new condo and stumbled across Maxon. The booking process was really easy and Iryna explained my options and a breakdown on how the move would go. The day of I received a call asking if the movers could come earlier in the afternoon then what was scheduled which was fine with me because that meant they would finish earlier. Basically when the movers came they got right to work moving boxes from each room and securely wrapping my furniture the 2-​man crew worked through the rain to move my items from my second floor apartment to my third level condo. These guys were great and not a single item of mine was broken during the move. I would definitely recommend them.

Normally, my husband and I are DIY movers, but he has an injured shoulder (from our last move, actually) and we were moving into a 3-​story townhouse and neither of our knees are in great shape. o_​O We knew there was just no way for us to move ourselves without it costing a fortune in rotator cuff surgery, torn up furniture, and dinged-​up walls in our new place!
We got quotes from a number of movers in the DC metro area and Laurel (where we were moving from,) but we settled on Maxon because their rates were the most reasonable. Iryna sent us a quote in a very timely manner, and when my husband called to ask some questions, she was very pleasant and helpful. We put a $ 150 deposit down over the phone and got an invoice by email confirming all the details (and a very good price considering the effort we’d save not having to move ourselves.) The professionalism of it all gave us some peace of mind about our first time hiring movers.
On moving day, our 2 movers showed up about 15 minutes early, which was fine by us! Their truck was more than big enough for our stuff. The guys were both very friendly, profession, and respectful, dressed neatly but ready to work, and they were also amazingly polite and funny! They were very quick but careful, and they took care to secure things that needed securing. They were also assertive, declining to move things that might break or make a mess (my outdoor plants, for instance), but also willing to make accommodations as necessary (a standup freezer that we’ve always moved without fully emptying it, for example.)
They worked tirelessly and efficiently and there was not a single ding, scratch, accident or anything negative about the move. The final bill was almost a shock for how great of a value it was, even factoring the tip we gave our guys. (Be sure to tip your movers, especially if you’ve got a lot of stairs or tricky spaces/​objects that they have to deal with.)
All in all, it was the easiest moving day we’ve ever had, and we’ve moved maybe 7 – 8 times in the last 9 years? (Lost count by now.) If I had it to do over again, I would have probably kept the movers for an extra hour or so taking most of my boxes to wherever I needed them — my knees are still complaining about my frugality.
If wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Maxon for anyone who needs movers. They did an excellent job and were an excellent value.

I used Maxon for my local move and this is how it went down:
1) I checked out their rates on
and they were reasonable, but hireahelper required pre-​payment, so I did some more research.
2) I called them and spoke to a nice lady (Irina) who gave me a quote over the phone (2 hour minimum, $ 75 per hour for 2 guys), and $ 75 per hour after the 2 hour minimum, billed in 0.5 hour increments. Also, $ 75 flat rate for a 24′ moving van. (hire-​a-​helper rates were cheaper for additional hours, but 3 hour minimum, and much higher hourly rate for the van)
3) Moving day arrives! We had boxed everything, but they wrapped the furniture for us using these quilted pad things. I would recommend getting a bag from U-​haul for your mattress ahead of time.
4) They were on time, but there was some douche blocking the loading dock of my apartment building, and they did NOT charge us for the 30 minutes it took to move said douche out of the driveway.
5) There was no loading dock or designated parking spot at the other end. The driver backed the truck into a very narrow tandem spot (I could have never done that with a U-​haul).
6) We were moving to the 2^nd story of a walkup. No extra charge for the stairs. Also, we lived on the 16^th floor of a large apartment building. The only extra charge was $ 3 per roll of tape and they used 3 rolls of tape to hold the mattress pads to the furniture.
7) They didn’t damage a thing, and finished in 4 hours. The best $ 384 (4x$ 75 + $ 75 for the truck + $ 9 tape) I ever spent in my life.
Btw, just to give you an idea, we had:
A giant 6’x6’ bookshelf (weighs about 300 pounds)
A smaller bookshelf
2 giant dressers (think 8 drawers each and as tall as me)
1 desk
2 couches
1 mattress
1 box spring
2 office chairs
4 side tables
1 coffee table
A giant TV
A TV cart
… and …
~15 large (4.5 cu ft) boxes
~20 small (1.5 cu ft) boxes
The small boxes were all books too. Don’t ask why I have so many, I don’t know. But they were heavy as all heck. And I didn’t have to move a single thing!
I’ve already recommended them to all of my friends, and I would definitely book directly because the rate seems to be better if you need the truck.
