Lipstick on an Old Florida pig — they painted, installed some mini-​split air conditioning (still some wall units remaining tho), rebuilt some old cabinets, and renovated some landscaping around an ancient pool.
As long as you aren’t paying too much, it is fine here but far from luxurious.
Beds are either hard regular bed springs on the old fold out couches or Murphy beds with some kind of old moldy rattan armrests that just complicate getting in and out. Either way they are awful. I can’t tell just by looking. I wasn’t going to write a review but subbing my toe on those inconvenient armrests a third time pushed me over the edge.
One extra star for the glum renovations, and it is fairly clean.
The public beach is the only significant redeeming quality. It is exceptional and the shore diving or snorkeling make it worthwhile to consider staying here one or two nights if nothing else is available in this quaint little village of Lauderdale by the Sea. The town is also terrific.
The Windjammer has chairs and towels you can take to the beach, and showers inside the gate.
If you are going to stay here do some research on the reef and town. You won’t be sorry even if this dive of a timeshare gets you down.
And don’t worry about me– it’s nothing that checking out (even to be going back home) won’t fix!

Well, there’s good news and not so good. Room 308 is the best room in the entire complex by far. It’s on the top floor with private balcony, overlooking the pool and beach. Nicely furnished and clean. Let’s talk about the room — well stocked kitchen with plenty of utensils and linens, and dishes, but no paper towels — a nice, empty holder. I guess you bring your own. Has a dishwasher but no disposal. Two electric burners but no oven. Huge microwave. Kitchen is a one-​person spot. Nice fridge, but no ice-​maker. The dining table seats 4 and is right by the patio door — great spot. The recliner makes into a single bed, and the sofa makes into a bed as well — both are very firm. The bathroom is small; great shower, no tub, plenty of linens. The whole area is tiled. The bedroom is adequate with a large dresser and two night stands. The bed is very mushy, sort of like sleeping on a marshmallow if that’s your thing. A small tv is on the dresser. Living room has a larger mounted flat screen. The lights on the wall are way too bright — a table lamp or floor lamp would be better. The air-​conditioning is super — two separate units with remote controls — terrific. The wi-​fi is strong out on the balcony — sitting on the sofa, it barely registers. And it’s slow, slow. Generally less than 5 megabits — I have 50 at home, so it’s an issue with me. Cell coverage — I have Verizon — is spotty, unless you’re outside. Good size closet, but both doors are broken — surprised no one in the past told maintenance. The pool area below is nice, and the maintenance man is a cleaning crazy person. Pool is good size from 3 to 6 feet. The property is in a good location, one block from the Anglin Pier and restaurants. They’re all good. A 7 – 11 is one block away as is a Walgreens that has a decent food mart. Staff here is friendly, but not intrusive. Maids are helpful and courteous. If you want quiet and rest, you might think again. This is a family place which means kids, which means noise. All of the pool noise comes right up your way. Same thing with smoking. People smoke around the pool and unless there’s a strong breeze, you’ll get it right up to the balcony. Parking is right next to the building and there’s an elevator. It would be nice if people respected a «quiet time» after 10 or 11 — our neighbors across the way were out on the common patio until late, drinking and having a good time. I’m all for a party, but come on. Beach is terrific, they clean it daily. There are chairs you can take down to the beach for no charge. Would I come back? Maybe. Our week was nice enough, but the weather wasn’t that great. But for the $$$ we paid, I’d look just a little harder. If you have kids, this is a great place. But for two of you who want sun, sand, and some peace, uh, you might want an adults only place. I’m a grandparent and if my kids behaved as poorly as some that were here, you can be sure some discipline would be in order. ‘Nuff said. The welcome basket with wine was very much appreciated and quickly consumed. All in all, it’s a good place.

I have a lot to say about this resort, so I’ll start with the rooms. Everything has been thought through so carefully, from the full kitchen to the type of bed for maximum comfort, and the spa style showers. It was so clean and comfortable.
Next, the fun stuff. During my last trip here at the end of July I saw a very large turtle laying eggs on the beach at around 11pm at night. I watched from a very respectful distance until she pulled herself back into the sea and swam away.
I am a free diver, and right off of the windjammer is a reef that you can simply put on your mask and swim to from right off shore, then run back to your room and relax. No long, expensive boat trips. Just swim right from the beach!
Another highlight for shore diving off the beach from the Windjammer is the Biorock coral reef restoration project. You can find it by swimming out to the yellow solar buoys. During this trip, a group of us did a night dive (my first) to see the Biorock project, and we saw an octopus hanging out in the structure! I have never seen an octopus before so this was incredible. If you visit the Biorock project during the day, in addition to seeing beautiful corals and fish, there is a very friendly angel fish who is usually there and will come say «hi»!
I love this place.
