History

Established in 1865.

Since 1865, The Salvation Army’s mission has been to meet human needs without discrimination. We operate 16 facilities and over 20 programs and services throughout Southern Nevada. The Salvation Army gives a hand up, not a hand out and we serve those in need who are hurting and struggling right here in our community.

Our Thrift Stores make our Adult Rehabilitation Program possible. Donating your goods and shopping here makes a difference in the lives of many!

For over 100 years, The Salvation Army has been providing assistance to people with a variety of physical and social afflictions through its United States based Adult Rehabilitation Programs (ARPs).

Adult Rehabilitation Programs began in 1881 when William Booth — founder of The Salvation Army — opened shelters for homeless people on the streets of London, England. His initiative quickly spread to the United States, and to this day, people come to us with issues of substance abuse, legal problems, relational conflicts, homelessness, unemployment and a need for spiritual awakening and restoration.

The ARP is made possible with the support of The Salvation Army Thrift Stores. Donating to and shopping at our stores makes a difference in the life of many. You help make the work of The Salvation Army possible, thank you!
