Southwest Medical Associates Surgery Center

I got a call from someone a week before my surgery, going through the rules (prep stuff, the day before the procedure, no spicy foods, food or drink after midnight, nothing the day of, except my pill and a small sip of water just before my appointment, wear something loose-​fitting and easy to remove, no makeup, no lotion, no perfume, no contacts).
Parking is a little confusing. We parked in the employee lot by mistake.
I had surgery (a morning appointment) here, about five weeks ago on a monday morning, and the place was packed, that is, the waiting room (but then again, some people had more people waiting on them, than actual patients — let me tell you, there were many faces with absolute misery, several people complaining, etc. you know the drill…). Anyway. I signed in, sat in a seat, waited until I was called by the front desk staff where I checked in, paid my co-​payment, and verified that I followed instructions (no food or drink, but a small sip of water with my medication right before I arrived).
Once I was called to the back, I was assisted by many medical professionals (there were so many!), who were all very nice, attentive, and got me situated. I took a pregnancy test, got weighed, into my gown, socks, into the bed with a warmed blanket, and finally, got the IV in my hand. One person went through all my meds with me. It seemed like I answered the same questions over and over; but I understand that they just wanted to make sure that we were all on the same page. (And a few people said they had gotten what I was getting, and again, made me glad that I was finally doing this. One even said, «What took you so long?!» I quickly answered, «Well, Southwest Medical Associates has this long list that you’ve got to go through.») In the back, I noticed very many other patients getting prepped for surgery. It was a buzzing back there!
Once I was settled, my husband and son joined me for a bit, calming my nerves.
Just before the procedure, I saw my doctor (OB/​GYN). She went through some questions/​concerns for a few minutes. I don’t even remember doing a countdown (I’ve been under before, a few times) after being wheeled over. But I remember being in Recovery, feeling so groggy, I could barely get my eyes to stay open. But the nice assistant kept reminding me, so I could leave. I think I was wheeled out in a wheelchair so I could get into the car.
A few days after, I got some calls to check in with me, to see if I was ok. That was nice.
The facility was clean. There was a big construction project. Everyone was pleasant, here, I am speaking of the people who worked here. I have no issues or complaints about them. They all did their jobs very well and seemed to like people, too. And that makes all the difference at making a patient feel at ease about having surgery.

I wish I had written down the names of everyone who helped me, but alas — I did not.
I checked in at 7:30 AM for an 8:30 procedure. I was getting my tonsils removed. From check in, intake, anesthesia, surgery and recovery everyone was fantastic.
I had never had anything else done, this was my first sedation and surgery. The staff made me feel very comfortable and at ease. They answered all pertinent questions and made sure I understood everything and also explained everything to my husband and parents.
I don’t remember much of recovery, just that I asked questions (apparently the same question multiple times) and drifted in and out of sleep until they set me free.
I got a follow up call the next day to check in on me (though I wasn’t speaking!), which I thought was nice.
Overall, they made sure I was comfortable and calmed my nervousness, which was great.
