Southwest Medical Associates at Charleston

This place BLOWS!
Wanted to get the unpleasant nature of this
appt. over with, so I scheduled here due to
appointment availability.
Went to one location. Paper sign on the door stating the office relocated. How about for those not familiar with the facility or that side of town — perhaps mix in a sign that the new location is in the SAME building!
Appt. at 0800. Inquired about the wait
time at 0820 & was told the «nurse» was
on her way out to get me. She must have
been coming from home because at 0835
she finally came out to get me.
Asked the «nurse» why the long wait. Told, «The doctor wasn’t actually here at your appointment time».
BP cuff did not work until 2^nd attempt. Scale did not work. Per instruction, I stepped on and off the scale twice & it still didn’t work.
I finally gave up & canceled the appt
without being seen by Dr. Brathwaite. My
thoughts: if the experience thus far perhaps speaks anything about the physician, I’ll pass.
For the love of God — please stop referring to
Medical Assistants as «Nurses». As a
Registered Nurse, I find this extremely
insulting. I’m sure for the sake of
simplication it’s easier to tell patients «The
nurse…», as opposed to «The M.A.»,
however, these roles are NOT synonymous.
I will stick with Nevada Family Care.

This review is for the Pediatrics office of Dr. Vicki Stark, Suite # 253. Been coming here for our little baby boy since he was two weeks old (he is now just a little over 6 months old).
Much like the OB/​GYN office at nearby neighboring Southwest Medical Associates, on the Rancho side, (1) it’s tough to get an appointment (2) appointments fill up fast– the clerks can only set appts. 2 mos. out– is what their computer calendar allows, and (3) the waiting room can get crowded.
There are two signup sheets, one for appointments and the other is for walk-​ins. The lobby has lots of seats, a play area for the little ones, a tv is always playing kids programs, and a donation box kitty corner from the clerk’s desk. The lobby and the rest of the office is always clean.
If the doc is on time, the visit is prompt. The nurse calls you back, the baby’s vitals are taken (weight, length, temperature), and then we go into another room and wait for the doc to see us. There, we can ask the doc questions (read: Is this normal?) and so forth. If it is time, after the exam, the nurse then comes in to give the baby his shots.
The clerks are pretty nice as well as the nurse; we always have Lynne assisting us, and she is a sweetheart. The pediatrician is very nice, too. Sometimes she has gotten a little nervous when the baby has his fits, but she lets us feed him afterward in the same room. She talks a little fast, and I am used to accents (all my life), so this doesn’t bother me.
If there is a problem with your child, you can always take your baby in sooner than the alotted visit, at the copay amount (two weeks, one month, two months, four months, six months, nine months– as designated by our insurance company– well-​checks are not charged visits).
