Hello fellow Unilocalers, let me tell you a story.
So i was married over this past weekend and Ortiz Productions was suppose to be my videographer. My wife and I had heard about him from my father in law who happens to work with his brother. We had gotten in contact and he had sent us his website. We watched his video’s and loved it. We decided to choose him. We met in person and paid our deposit to lock in his services on June 18, 2015. Gave him all the details and signed a contract. A few days before the second deposit was due, we had contacted him asking for an invoice to pay. He had sent the incorrect amount and we had told him so so after a few days he sent a new invoice and it was also paid. Fast forward to December 17, 2015 a few days before the wedding. He calls me to ask for some more information regarding the wedding. He tells me my primary shooter would be a woman and secondary a man. This came as a surprise to me as when we signed the contract, we were told he would be there. I don’t mind as he vouches for the shooter. Let’s proceed 1 more day forward to the day before the wedding. It is 3:30 pm and i am driving to the venue for rehearsal. i get contacted via text asking if i was free for a call, so i say yes. He then tells me that his primary shooter, the woman, had a family emergency and he does not trust the secondary shooter to run the show. So i ask will he be attending in her place. He tells me «No i have taken on another project». At this point i was extremely pissed off. I agreed to the new shooters since he vouched for them and while the family emergency may be unforeseen, it is a companies job to have backup plans. I luckily had another videographer take his place who did a wonderful job and i would recommend to anybody looking for video coverage for anything.
I would NEVER recommend Ortiz Productions for any video work ever. While the quality may be decent, the business backing behind the scenes are horrible.
