Business Owner

Debbie Thompson’s dream began during her days studying early childhood development and subsequently receiving her teaching credential some 17 years ago. «I can still remember how much I loved working with the young children and pre-​school students during my internships as well as during the time of creating my college senior project». Little did Debbie know that the work she would do in developing a model for one of the first safe key after-​school programs in the state of California, along with her ongoing love of children would become her life’s career.

For the past 10 years Debbie has the wonderful experience of returning to the classroom as a mentor teacher for her own teaching team, as the franchise owner director of her own Kids ‘R’ Kids, Quality Learning Center, which serves children in the Henderson, Green Valley and Silverado Ranch areas.

My son has now completed his first semester in the first grade. My assumptions about kids are kids curriculum is correct. He entered the first grade level public-​school behind other students that did kindergarten full day and half-​day. He tested lower and socially he was not ready for first grade. We had to work hard to get him to first grade level reading and adjusted to a classroom setting which should’ve been the minimum, also what was promised by kids are kids. Thankfully we have good news he is now reading advanced first grade 2nd grade math and is adjusting well to the classroom setting.
Do not believe the hype when they sell you on their school program it’s a joke!

This Kids R Kids Learning Academy on Serene does’t deserve single star. Though the classrooms are spacious, Not enough teachers and those who are there do not have experience to handle 2 years kids. Lot of accidents for my kid during 6 weeks period. It’s worst to say but I have to reveal that the my kid teacher shows race discrimination which is not at all acceptable. Better to avoid this for the safety of your kids.

this school is kind of like day care…
my child was watching TV with classmate when i picked up my child.
it was before 5pm.
if they just let them watching TV as their education program
i can do my child at home too.
also every year tuition is going up.
i don’t think it worthy to pay for this school…
class room are too many kids more than teachers.
so teachers can get pay attention each children.
my child got high sugar snacks and chips (junk snacks) sometimes.
if you are going to pay tuition to this school, there are so many better school for your child.

I’ve had our kid here at the serene and maryland location for almost the 3 years. I would agree with some of the previous 1 start reviews. They NEVER send sick kids home and as a result our kid ends up sick a lot and then of course we do. They do tend to have cycle through teachers regularly and end up with some young inexperienced teachers who don’t belong there. They also seem to take liberties sometimes in giving our kids WAY too much candy and sugar before sending them home, i once watched on the camera as my kid ate two large adult size peices of cake once… that type of thing. My biggest pet peeve is i feel like for the money we pay they don’t spend near enough time on lesson plans and teaching, and too much on sleeping and playing. It’s definitely not a 1 star or horrific place like the others stated, they probably just got a real bad teacher that probably isn’t there anymore. There are some amazing teachers there and the normal admin faculty has been good to work with. My child generally likes being there which is very important, the last place she was in was horrible and she hated going. I’m a very paranoid and over protective parent and i would say this is generally a safe decent place for pre-​school and child care. If you find the perfect place please feel free to share

Awful! Awful! Awful! They keep your child in a highchair or crib as «timeout» for 30 minutes plus. They verbally abuse kids and try to blame it all on the child’s behavior, its because employees don’t know what they are doing! PLEASE, DO NOT PLACE YOUR CHILDREN HERE!

Run away from this place! This day care is horrific. We sent our 1 and 2 year olds here and it was a nightmare. They start the morning with this chaotic, anxiety inducing cafeteria style breakfast where babies and toddlers are mixed in with 5,6,7+ year olds. We never were introduced to our older child’s teachers and every time we tried to talk to them they acted like they were put out and too «shy» to chat. They have cameras where you can watch your kids in the classroom but it just a front to make you feel secure. One day our boys grandma was watching and she observed a morbidly obese caretaker place him in a high chair for close 2 hours while he was crying! She tried to call us because she lives out of state and by the time we got there he was so worked up he fell asleep in our arms (which he had never done before) and had an awful diaper rash. I don’t want to disparage anyone about their weight, but all this woman did was eat snacks while sitting all day and did not have the energy to even move around. It is just not an appropriate venue for someone over 300 pounds to be working. A week before that my wife and sister observed a caretaker standing above a child on the ground berating her in another language when she thought no one was looking. There were a couple of other incidents that were just shoved under the carpet by the director who is weasel of a man. All they care about is warm bodies and are very lucky we did not press charges.
P. S. — I’m convinced that most, if not all, the positive reviews on the web for this place are fake. They even sound contrived.

Take your kid somewhere else! I made the mistake of sending mine here for a year before she started kindergarten. Staff is so unprofessional! While I never felt like my daughter was in danger I knew she certainly wasn’t getting quality care. But the hours worked and she had a lot of great friends that she looked forward to seeing everyday. On her last day I came to her class with cupcakes and hung out for an hour or so and the teachers were horrid even with me in the classroom! You’d think at least then they’d be on their best behavior. Ugh. Bad memories. The lady that works the front desk has no social skills and was so rude!
