Grand Pool Complex

A group of 4 friends and I just got back from our Vegas trip this week. On previous trips we’ve loved hanging out at the MGM pools and this time we decided to get a cabana to help shield us from the 110º heat and cloudless skies. Since we were headed down mid-​week, our cabana at the 18+ pool had a $ 400 food & beverage minimum (+18% gratuity).
The cabana host (at least I think that is her title) who greeted us was super friendly and walked us down to cabana #16. The pool was fantastic, with only about 10 other guests and best of all… no kids. Our waitress, Rosie, was an absolute dream. She was super attentive and quick to offer suggestions of what to order. For $ 150 we ordered a container of punch, which was made up of an entire bottle of rum as well as lots of other tasty ingredients. We also ordered drinks in the souvenir cups, 3 rounds of jello shots, nachos, and the chicken fingers platter. The food and drinks were all awesome and we quickly met our food and beverage minimum.
Overall, we had a wonderful time here and will definitely be coming back to rent out a cabana again.

They have 3 swimming pool and lazy river, but the pool are dirty. Full of dirt, leaves, and debris. The pool water might have mixtures of beers and liquors… so yucky!!! The rooms are also dirty. They dont change the sheets and clean the shower. This is based on my experience.

My husband and I enjoyed spending time at the pools. Our favorite one was the lazy river, such a great way to relax and enjoy the sun. It’s super fun for kids too! Towels are free (must return) and tubes are not free, you must rent. Overall we loved it!

Just returned from my bachelorette party where we rented a cabana for a Saturday at the MGM Grand Pool. I highly recommend renting a cabana for any special occasion… heck, I think I will be renting cabanas here from now on!
Planning our cabana day was tough because we stayed at the Mirage, but Mirage doesn’t really have cabanas. Then I found out most hotels will only give you a cabana if you’re a guest at their hotel. How annoying. Not only was MGM Grand fine with outside guests renting cabanas, but they were the most appealing budget-​wise. Lots of hotels require a flat fee. MGM Grand requires a food and beverage minimum– no fee for the cabana!
We stayed the entire day and it was about 110 degrees out. Thanks to our awesome cabana though, we were perfectly comfortable. There’s a safe, fridge, fan, multiple chairs and umbrellas to use. WAY better than fighting with people over shade and chairs in common areas.
The cabana area pool (ours was cabana 18) was very adult and relaxed. Once we had a few too many cocktails though, it was easy to venture into the more party areas. But I enjoyed having our private oasis to escape from the party scene!
My only complaint is that reserving one of these things is cost prohibitive. But I think it’s well worth it. Also, we actually had trouble meeting our food and beverage minimum. It was $ 800 and there were 8 girls. By the end of the day we had about $ 200 left to spend… so what do we do? Champagne!
Definitely will be returning. Vegas!

Great pool, clean, nice ambiance. Service is a bit slow for drinks. Drinks are good, diverse crowd. They have an adults only pool with nicer chairs. Close to Wet republic, the pool party venue

This pool was one of the best highlights of my trip. In the morning I would come early to lay out. I would bring my fresh squeezed juice from Blitz. Total Zen. 6.5 acres of lush green paradise with the sun blazing down on you! Every Chicagoan’s dream. 4 pools, a relaxing lazy river, a cascading water fall, and 3 hot tubs which I have no idea where they were hiding, bc I never saw one.
Weds & Thursday it’s not crowded and you have no problem finding a spot. Come Friday there’s masses of people everywhere! It’s hard to find a spot and some people lay out their towels on the grass. But what do you expect it’s the largest hotel in Vegas. 1 drink is $ 20. A lazy river raft is $ 16 to rent or $ 12 to own. Cabanas are $ 1000 food and drink tab. You don’t have to bring your own beach towel bc they supply them near the entrance. I’d advise not use the restroom near the lockers they’re very dirty. Use the restrooms by where they hand out towels. Overall, I love this pool. Its my happy place!

Anyone want to cruise down over ½ a mile of lazy river, get covered by a waterfall, and have your problems float away as you rest in your rental cabana? If you do, this is the perfect place! Get lost in one of the longest lazy rivers on the west coast and enjoy getting wet at this amazing pool area in the back of the MGM Grand. Tucked by the monorail track, this huge pool complex spans over at least an acre, and has outdoor bars, rental cabanas, and rental inner tubes. Let the fun begin!

After all these years and many many stays at MGM, I finally checked out the pool area!
The pool here is nice and the pool area is big. I like that they have multiple pools, from this main MGM pool area to the more private Signature tower pools. The best thing about this pool area is the lazy pool! It’s huge and pretty much goes around the whole pool area. However, I think it’s ridiculous that they charge you to use the tubes! They charge $ 16 for an adult tube and $ 12 for a kids tube. For this alone, 2 stars have to be docked since this pool is only open to MGM/​Signature guests and you are already paying a $ 30 «resort fee». Just to rent a tube alone is more than half the cost of the resort fee for a tube that costs no more than $ 10 to own normally. They also do not allow you to bring in your own tubes/​floatation devices. I read that people find stray tubes… but my boyfriend and I did not really have time to look.
What I do like about the pool area is it’s size, the fact that you can bring drinks into the pool, and the lazy pool. The pool area is clean and there are a good number of chairs available, but all the shade get taken up early in the day. There is a café that serves food and drinks, and jello shots are only $ 3 a shot. They do check for your room key and bag when you enter the pool area. You can’t bring in the obvious… weapons, glass, coolers. It says no outside drinks, but they do not seem too strict on that. My boyfriend brought in his drink and I saw many others too with no issues. They have plenty of towels for you to use, so keep your room towels in the room and do not worry about bringing your own towel. Wet Republic is here also, so you can hear the music playing from there very well.
I love the pool here, but $ 16 for a tube is a major turn off, especially when you already pay a $ 30+ resort fee. Next time, we will spend more time looking for stray tubes!

I usually wouldn’t rate a hotel pool by itself, but this isn’t your typical hotel pool experience.
The MGM itself due to its pricing and atmosphere draws a younger crowd (younger than me!). Our group of 8 rented a poolside cabana and enjoyed a recent Sunday here. Our cabana man, Joey, was attentive and a great host for our day in the sun.
It was Labor Day weekend, so the price was higher than on a non-​holiday weekend. You pay a fee to reserve the cabana, and charge up to that amount in food, drinks, services throughout the day. We had a lot of good food (lobster nachos, sushi) and drinks (frozen drinks, mixed drinks, buckets of beer and plenty of water and soft drinks to keep us relatively hydrated).
They have four huge pools that are moderate depth and provide a cool retreat every so often. We were located a little ways from the blaring speakers at the 20-​something house music grinding pool so heard that all day long. The lazy river was crowded-​groups of «dudes» hanging on the sides to pose and gawk-​and nearly impassable. If you’re with a group, a cabana is a good idea, allows you to relax and be off of the main deck.

How can you help but not be blown away by this place? The complex is huge! My wife does not swim but I was able to coax her into trying the lazy pool. She had a great time! We had a blast floating around the lazy river in 92 degree heat with our tasty (albeit overpriced) mango margarita. This is a must-​do if you stay at the MGM. The tourists are a pain in the ass because there are so many of them. Add us to that list! Getting a couple recliners can be a challenge so arrive early or late, but not in between. Also, all the tubes were rented out when we got there but I was able to procure one for free from a departing gentleman. I, in-​turn, passed it on to another tourist when we left. Oh, also they have lockers you can rent for ten bucks a day.
Yes, the place is crowded and amenities are expensive-​welcome to Las Vegas. I love it!

This is the reason we stayed at the MGM. Ok, the price for our rooms also helped but the pool at MGM is by far the best on the strip. I love that there are five different pools to choose from and the lazy river is amazing. The only downside is that there are very few places to get some shade while you’re at any of the pools. If you want an umbrella either get there at 8AM and stake your claim on the five that are there or pay for a cabana.
Since the lazy river seems to be the most popular place at the pool complex, a quick tip. Get in line at 9AM with a pre-​determined location of where you want to sit all day. The lazy river opens at 10 and if you want shade (under the bridges or near the walls of the bridges) you should get there as close to opening as possible. It’s a mad dash to those spots when the gates open at 10; almost feels like Black Friday.

Get to the pool early to get a beach chair first before it gets too crowded and people leave their towels on all of them but it’s great because they have different areas for kids which is a plus

I wanted to do three things while in Vegas. Pool time was one of them. Out of the 3 nights we were there, we spent two mornings at the pool: Thursday, July 9^th & Friday, July 10^th. We got there around 9−10am every morning. They have a number of pools, so it was never too difficult to find 5 chairs together. We ended up at the Producer’s pool both days.
The only down side was waitresses were hard to find at times. It typically took about a good 20 – 30 mins before we spotted a server. Plus, being poolside, prices for drinks are high. We got a bucket of bud lights, three specialty cocktails with a souvenir cup and two bottles of water for around $ 125. Thank goodness for hotel comps as we got most of our pool bill comped due to our time gaming.
The one thing I wish we did was the lazy river. We never got a chance to check that out. If I ever stay at MGM again, I’ll make sure to go.

I booked a cabana in July 2015 and it was a good decision. Given the number of us (11) and the heat, it made for a nice place to chill out in the shade and not have to fight over lounge chairs. Our cabana attendant — Brittany (Brit) was excellent. She made us drinks, came by often and suggested things for us to order to meet our food and beverage minimum ($ 800).
You can order pitchers of iced tap water which is free vs. bottled water. If you order bottles of liquor (which are liter size by the way) you get you choice of mixers included in the price.

Love this so much! Lots of friendly people even some of them have a bit too much of characters after a few drink but it’s part of the fun of being here.
Tips:
Floaty is expensive. I normally look for people who are going away and ask whether I can have their floaty instead :)

Lazy River is a douche-​bag gauntlet with water so chlorinated it will kill your soul.
Oh, wait, it’s Vegas. Your soul is already dead.

What the hell!!! $ 20 to rent a freaking tube at the Lazy River???
Ok so the last time I came here was two years ago and I swear there was no charge for these things. Am I bugging?
Three stars for that alone. I’m a little disappointed. I may as well go to the other side. Womp womp.
Needless to say we ended up renting two… they were discounted to $ 10 since it was after 1pm.

Two hours after renting it I threw it to the side of the pool and continued down the lazy river sans floatie.

Some of the pool ares opens at 8am, only a few opens late at 10am. People would come down early to reserve the chairs with beach towels or their personal belongings.
Chairs next to beach umbrella are the most popular ones. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of beach umbrella at the pool area. Wish they have more!
In the afternoon, it is challenging to find chairs. It is hard to know if the chairs are available because there were still beach towels left on the chairs? Sometimes people already left the pool and left the towels there. I hope the pool staffs could find a system to make it easier for us to spot vacant chairs.
Love the lazy river! However, all the pool equipment requires fees.

Amazing pool area that is infused with greenery. I especially enjoyed the lazy river that had a small waterfall along the way. The layout of the whole place is great. Lots of washrooms and none of them were ever full. They provide towels. There’s a small convenience store type area along with the food shack and bars.

I loved it. The pool staff is very relaxed. The lazy river was fantastic. It costs you $ 20 to rent a tube (half price after 1). It is so worth it. It is a fairly long river, and swerves through quite a bit ground. I ordered a large pina coloda and was in heaven.
I did this a couple days in a row, and cant wait to do it again :) Along the lazy river area has plenty of places to sit in the shade, which is good for a kid from North Dakota.
There are 3 normal sized pools that are not connected throughout the complex. I got to be honest did not hang around them much.
With the mgm room key you get into the whole complex. I also got into Wet Republic. That was ok. It was tough to find a place to just sit down and relax in there. It is a smaller area and everything is cabanas.
Last edit. The lazy river portion is family friendly, yes ppl were drinking and having fun. There were families along it also having just as much fun as the people partying.

This is my favorite pool complex (so far). There are options to relax, to play in one of the pools they have or float around in the lazy river (which I LOVE).
Since I love the Lazy River so much, that’s what I will tell you about. So the signs are pretty good at directing you to it from the entrance. You do need a key card to show them, as the pool complex is available for guests only. I will book a staycation here JUST to use the lazy river, ha!
The lazy river has lots of fountains and two waterfall-​like structures. One is on the actual lazy river and the other is in a grotto like area. The lazy river has no age limit but you are allowed to drink while floating — another thing that I love. As other Unilocalers have stated, you can easily hear the tunes from Wet Republic while floating… so it’s usually a nice little party in the lazy river in addition to WR. There are always servers walking around and a little restaurant off to the side where you can order your food and drinks.
Come here if you’re not sure if you want to party or chill out because there are options for both! :)
Oh! P. S. it closes around 6, I believe… currently. Ask to be sure. You can rent tubes for $ 16 all day and $ 10 after 1p.

I definitely like how you can hear the music from Wet Republic, since it gives the place a young and fun vibe. However, the pool area was a hot mess. There were bottles and cups scattered everywhere. It looked like a frat party gone wrong. Either the hotel needs more staff to clean up the walkways, or the guests need to be chastised and prompting to be more diligent and respectful.
The lazy river doesn’t move. I went to the one at Mandalay Bay last month, and you get yelled at by the lifeguards if you stop the water’s flow, because you’re seen as an obstruction. At this river complex, people are just hanging around, clogging up the movement. Only a few select people are floating in a circle, and they’re getting pushed and shoved by those around them. One girl in our group had a man take a picture of her crotch with a GoPro camera, so beware of sketchy people! Moreover, there’s no way to navigate around the triple waterfall without getting wet. The only thing you can do is get out, so be prepared to get yourself, and your hair, fully soaked.

I absolutely love this pool — probably one of the best in Vegas! I would stay at the MGM Grand solely for this pool.
The lazy river is perfect for hot days on the strip. Just rent a tube ($ 16 each) and float down. Just watch out for people hanging out on the sides. There is also a awesome water fall you can hang out under. Also different water spouts and things to get you wet.
There are also three (?) different pools you can hang out in if you don’t want to get hit by intertubes.
Since it is right outside of Wet Republic, the music is generally what is being played inside. No lines, no fees, just a relaxing day at the pool.
A 20 oz bloody mary or margarita is $ 17, just grab a waitress and she’ll bring it over to you while you’re lounging on the chairs.

The Grand Pool Complex is free to all MGM guests.
It is located on the east side of the resort it should be easy to find by the wayfinder signs. The hotel asks you to wear cover up items and not to walk to and from the pool in only your suit. I am not sure that they are very strict on this but it is courteous to cooperate as it is a nice hotel and casino.
Entrance to the pool is granted by showing your room card. There are several pools and a lazy river. These sections are reserved for the experience you are looking for. I’m not sure what each section represents but you can find that information out on the website. Some areas are for families and others for adults only. Free towels are provided and beach chairs are available on a first come first serve basis. The lazy river can be walked or you can rent a floating device for a couple Hamiltons. Kids inner tubes are smaller and slightly cheaper than adults.
The pool area is plenty and the water is clean. It can get busy but if you come early enough and miss the peak hours you can still get a good amount of sun and pool time. They have a cabana grill which I will address in another review but they also have staff that come around to order drinks and food if you so please.
The pool is very nice with palm trees and a great atmosphere with music loud enough to hear. When you’re in Vegas you will get used to the club style music ²⁴⁄₇ wherever you are.

i’m a big fan of the Rio pool and the Flamingo pool. those awesome pools are now my number 2s. THIS pool… is the bizznizz. it really is a complex in both facility and traversing difficulty.
there are a couple full size standalone pools that can accomodate an exorbitant amount of people, but, the masses are drawn to the lazy river. the lazy river is able to accmodate the throngs of people that flock to the MGM for the pool alone. lots of seating options up and around the lazy river. we got there around 130p one day and were able to find seats pretty quickly.
the cocktailetresses were pretty johnny on the spot. got our drink options with the utmost of speed. only knock, there is no food delivery here, unless you’re in a cabana so fyi. you gotta walk to the pool restaurant. oh, make sure you bring your flip flops cause that concrete during summers in Vegas is a killer. the food options were pretty good though, even though the menu was standard.
don’t bother getting one of those inner tube things. they were a pain in the ass. it looks fun, but, with so many people using them, it tends to jam up the lazy river. but, if you decide to get one, it’s around $ 15. you could also wait till later in the morning/​early afternoon and most people just get tired of them and leave them around. we got one that was just floating by on its’ own.
overall, AMAZING pool! lots of kids around as well. as much as i would like to bring my kids here, i might only do so during the off season. a little too adult for our taste. but, if you don’t mind the drunks and bouche dags around, knock yourselves out. also, if you’re here on the weekends, Wet Republic is right next door so you get to here the resident/​guest DJs play their sets, without paying an arm and a leg. we’ll most def be back.

The MGM has a lot of pool choices. The ones by the Signature Towers are quiet and chill. The ones in the Grand Pool Complex have a much more energetic vibe. We chose to hang out by the Lazy River Pool next to Wet Republic. Fantastic Choice! There are lot’s of lounge chairs, places to eat and bars surrounding the Lazy River. You can even rent tubes to float around in… about $ 16 a day to rent. The main grotto has a cool water fall and lots of shallow water for the kids. The older kids circled the area in the lazy river.
There are some really cool nooks and grotto’s to lounge in. Great for the kids and those in need of shade on a hot Vegas day. Music from Wet Republic is played through speakers around all the pools. We were able to hear Calvin Harris and Steve Aoki during out time at the pool.
We chose loungers at the back of the rows, under the misters and by the overhang so we had a shade option. We spent a lot of time in the pool cooling off.
This is definitely a party pool, but kids and adults of all ages were having a great time. This is definitely the spot to be to fun in the sun.
They have these blue double lounge chairs that look really inviting. If you agree to spend $ 300 one could be yours. With a group of a few people it’s not a bad deal and you get an umbrella.
The ground gets super hot when walking to the pool from the lounge chairs. I left my flip flops in a bush and that worked out great.
We found a stray tube and shared with a group of folks which was a bonus.

Hands down, my favorite pool complex on the Las Vegas Strip! Who knew a hotel could have so many different pools?
The Grand Pool Complex consists of the following pools:

In addition to all of these pools, they have a Cabana Grill, over 3 bars, and 2 shops. They also offer cabana, tube and raft rentals.
MY FAVORITES
Margarita Bar-​they sell margaritas in a small cup or by the yard. Get the yard!
Lazy River Pool-​you can rent tubes to float around in the «river.» It’s totally relaxing until you float through the water geysers or under the man-​made waterfalls… but that’s what makes it fun!

CONS
+Seating is limited when the pools are crowded. They offer lounge chairs but they are first come first serve and you cannot reserve them. You can, however, reserve cabanas.
+If you are strictly looking for relaxation, your best bet would be to rent a cabana at one of the more private pools as the main pools are patronized by families with kids.
Keep in mind-​you must wear your proper cover up attire over your swim suit while walking through the hotel to the pool. (It’s a far walk!) Don’t forget to bring your room key-you’ll need this to enter the pool complex. If you’re staying at the MGM Grand, make this one of your «must do’s» as this has been my best pool experience in Las Vegas.
