Business Owner

Gary Schaff was born and raised in the southern California area. After graduating from high school he moved to Las Vegas to continue his education at UNLV. At the same time he was learning the locksmith trade under the guidance of his father while working at A-​Able Lock & Key. Gary quickly progressed in all facets of the trade; starting with picking, impressioning keys for all types of automobile locks as well as all types of pin tumbler and wafer type locks. He soon progressed into installations of high security locks and keys for both residential and commercial applications. After his locksmith apprenticeship, Gary began working with safe locks, soon becoming the top safe technician in the southern Nevada area. His safe expertise was recognized and utilized from other locksmith firms from all over the United States. In the early 80’s, Gary became a managing partner with A-​Able Lock & Key. Our company has used A&B for 3 years and are very happy. They installed a couple of our electronic door entry systems we purchased from a third party and did an excellent job. We have had 3 door lock issues that have happened on a weekends or holidays due to wear and tear and they have always sent a tech out within hours. Thank you for the great service which is hard to find.

I had A&B install some high security locks on my home several months ago. One of the locks recently became loose and was wiggling in the door. I called A&B and told about the issue, and a technician was at my house within AN HOUR, and they fixed the problem quickly. I am extremely happy with A&B and will never use anyone else.

We had our home system installed less than a year ago. We have had some hiccups along the way, but overall service has been very good and problems resolved until the cameras stopped working earlier this month (which was why we switched from our prior provider because they did not have home camera options). I have left voice mails, phone messages and created online tickets and have yet to have a response from service regarding the cameras timing out and shutting down. Very disappointed as they also do our business, and our business experience has been very good.

home security thru them earlier this year (I think April).
— On June 22, 2015 I received a letter from them stating «as of July 1, 2015 guard response fees will reflect a charge of $ 52.00 per response.»
— So, it went from $ 0 to $ 52 for a guard response, this change completely caught me off guard.

We have had issues with the front door of our business for years… we have had the same company come and take a look and see if they could repair it over and over with very temporary solutions. Bobby came in and worked hard on diagnosing the problem and was able to offer a permanent solution. We are so pleased with the level of service from this company– many of our employees who saw the work Bobby did are planning on using them at their own homes now– so glad we found them!

wow excellent service! Had an issue with a lost key for 3 different locks. They came out free of charge to asses the situation the next day and gave me a such a great price. All the other companies wanted to charge me $ 65 just to come out then another $ 75 per lock plus an additional labor charge of $ 40 when they hadn’t even seen what kind of lock it was. A&B came out for free to asses the situation before they started giving me crazy prices over the phone. Needless to say these locks were not that complicated and A&B did not have to charge me even close to what others were pricing me. Will for sure be using them again and I feel fortunate I called around for better rates and service. Thank you! A++

These guys were fantastic. I called, got an estimate and used the Unilocal voucher which saved me $ 40 on my service. We just moved here and needed new keys cut for our mailbox. Thanks to Unilocal I found A&B Security Group and boy am I glad! I called early this morning and got a callback from the tech asking if he could arrive sooner than I expected him. Naturally I was happy to hear this. The service was fast, courteous and a job well done! I needed two new locks on my security screen and the job was done perfectly. Very nice and thorough! Previous owners of the house had two different locks on the front door and the garage so one of the locks had to be replaced. The technician totally understood that we were on a budget and didn’t try and scam me into buying a bunch of needless or expensive parts. He was very prompt and professional. Very happy with the service we received.

I selected A&B Security Group because of all the favorable comments here on Unilocal.
We had an issue with our home security system. I called A&B on a Monday morning. Their home security system technician (Jay) was busy on the phone, so I left a voicemail. He returned my call first thing Tuesday morning, and we arranged a time for him to come out Wednesday for a service visit (we were busy on Tuesday, so we had him wait until Wednesday.)
On Wednesday, he called when he was on the way, and arrived within the 1 hour agreed-​to appointment range.
Jay was quickly able to troubleshoot our problems and make all but one repair. He didn’t have one of the parts needed, but came back first thing the next morning with the needed part, and everything was done!
Jay and A&B’s service was friendly and professional. I also thought their rates were reasonable, considering the work we had done, plus the fact he had to come back out with the missing part.
I would not hesitate to recommend A&B Security Group.
We used them in June 2013.

Called on Thursday at 455pm, got appt for 9am next day, Jim was here right on time, pleasant, honest. I loved that they would tell me the prices of things over the phone before they got here. It’s almost 10am and I’m writing this review, he even fixed a lock that had a small problem which he could have lied about to charge me more! I got 4 locks fixed for $ 80 total. did use coupon on their website also. I am pleased.

5:00 on a Saturday night and our back door lock goes kaput. As in totally inoperable. Chris from A&B finished up a job, called us and was at the house within one hour. We had gone down to Home Depot and picked up a replacement lock (probably a good idea, you can get what you want). He was very professional and had the job completed in 45 minutes. Very reasonably priced!

I was able to get a next day appointment which I was extremely happy about. My appointment time was 9am and he arrived at about 9:20am…way better than most places that give you a four hour window for arrival. He was fast and friendly.
He said when I move he can come out and change the lock out again so I can take the new one with me and he would switch it out for no charge.
Update: When I called to have this done, they said thats not true and would not honor this offer. The guy had written it on the back of the business card with the name and cell number but the company said he’s no longer with the company and they couldn’t help me. Wow! That took them from five stars to two.

Out of 6 local Locksmith companies I have been in contact with, this company stands above all the rest.
First off, they are willing to price negotiate, and are flexible with homeowner’s hours. I was having issues with my safe, and when I asked the gal in the office, if they have specs for a specific model and make — they were able to verify they have done work with that safe. They give you a quote over the phone and honor that! No hidden fees or other sneaky charges that a lot of the other companies I was calling were telling me.
The technician (Ron) was extremely professional & VERY polite! He called before he came out to my home letting me know when he was on his way; then again as he was coming up my street! I must also state — Right at the time the technician came, it was my daughter’s nap time, and he was very patient and understanding about letting me put her down! It’s nice to have a service company who can be accommodating when little ones are in the picture!
Simply for the wonderful experience, I would recommend these guys if you have any services needed. They are very good!
