Texaco Xpress Lube

I had my oil changed here last week; within 4 –5 days my car was almost out of oil. The car requires about 4 qts of oil; a few days later the car had 1.5 qts in the car’s engine. Why? The «technician» stripped the oil pan’s threads and it caused the engine to leak. It was lucky that this was caught otherwise my car may have had no oil in it at one point soon and the engine would have been seized most likely. I highly recommend you use a professional garage with a lengthy reputation for good work. These quick oil changes places can be a recipe for disaster. My car now requires about $ 600 in repairs. Their corporate office refused to take responsibility and pay for the damages. Filed complaint with BBB. Consumer beware. The few extra bucks to pay a regular mechanic in a regular shop will save you hundreds in the long run.

Quick Prompt Oil Change. Typical Up sell on other services but that’s normal in xpress lubes. These guys are quick and workers. 16.99 w coupon works great for a 8 – 10 min oil change.

Their sign says $ 19.99 oil change… as we all know, It’s all about he fine print.
I had our SUV in the dealer for some recall stuff, while there they offered to change the oil for $ 39.00. I thought I could save a few bucks by having it done at this local oil change stop instead.
…and it begins. You need a new air filter! You will get much better MPG with a new one! No thank you. Can we look under your dash to check your cabin filter. No thank you. You really should have this oil flush, only takes 10 – 12 minutes to do. No thank you. Your vehicle requires a canister oil filter, the’ll be an additional charge of $ 5.00. Oh, your vehicle requires 6.5 qt. of oil, 1.5 more than average, another charge of $ 8.99. Of course a shop supplies charge of $ 3.00, what the hell is that for!??
So all added up including taxes…$ 39.57. A far cry from $ 19.99.

Do not go to this shop. My girlfriend took her car there. They used regular oil and charged for synthetic oil and upcharge of $ 60. They told her she had a oil leak. We park the car in a garage ever night no oil on the floor? Then they tried to sell her windshield blade I had just changed them 2 weeks before. Upon paying the bill they had charged for an air filter she was never told she needed. 2 days after the oil change we had an oil leak on the garage floor. I checked the oil and it was over a quart low in the engine. There was ½ a cup on the floor. They did not follow the engine specs of 4 quarts. Beware of the company that will over charge for services and not follow specs. I took the car to a mechanic and he told me the bolt was not replaced tight enough and the oil was way too low for the engine. Her $ 80 oil change cost her $ 250 with the expert mechanic fees to do everything properly.

DO NOT go here. They will recommend other services and pressure you into getting these other services. They prey upon the lack of knowledge of their customers. They replaced my rear differential fluid and either put the wrong fluid in or theirs had water in it. Either way, they basically ruined my rear diff and it cost $ 1200 to repair. The corporate office would not reimburse me for these extra costs. I do not recommend ANYONE going here.

I am not an auto illiterate, I work on my own cars when I can; I find it absolutely amazing what a rip-​off this place is.
I used to change my own oil up until it cost me the same as taking it in to my local Goodyear with a coupon. I received a coupon in the mail from Texaco Xpress lube for $ 16.99 and thought, what the heck, I’ll go there instead of Goodyear and save an extra three bucks on my oil change; that’s when things got really fun…
My air filter is apparently horribly bad and needs to be replaced immediately. Unfortunately for them, I had changed the air filter myself about 2,000 miles ago when I personally cleaned the mass airflow sensor due to a lean burn code on my OBDII reader; the filter was still spotless. Next up on the list was that I really needed a full cooling system flush and refill. Once again… WRONG…around when I did the mass air flow sensor cleaning (about 2,000 miles ago) I also changed out both my upper and lower radiator hoses and completely flushed and refilled the cooling system with the yellow long-​life stuff. Finally (presumably since I had a coupon and wasn’t paying full price) the bad news about my car needing 6 quarts rather than the ‘included’ 5 quarts. Wrong again, six quarts would overfill my car. The service manual explicitly shows 5 quarts with filter change and I have done it many times before on this car myself. This was obviously just a ploy to grab more money… probably since I declined the air filter change and coolant flush. For what it’s worth, this is in a late 90’s Ford passenger car with a 4.6l engine.
After arguing for a few minutes with the manager, I just paid the price (now almost $ 30.00 with shop fees, disposal fees and the extra quart) and left.
Never again will I go back to any of the Texaco Xpress Lube shops anywhere. If you ‘google’ for them in the Tampa Bay area, you will see that there is a federal lawsuit against them for defrauding customers.
