Great place to stay in Lansing. Close to everything. So much better than a lot of other options.

Wow, a wrecking ball would be a good remedy for this dump. The facility is fatally flawed, but the management is awful too.
No outward-​facing windows, you look on a dark pool housed in essentially a pole barn.
Big Signal: the amateur design is based on a Big 10 conference missing the two latest teams.
You get a «jacuzzi» out of the ’80’s, a sink in the bedroom, and a tiny bath with industrial toilet and no fan– so the shower has BLACK MOLD and the ancient paint is all bubbled.
The worst: The place is incredibly loud, as the pool is populated with yelling kids (good on them, not their fault), just one of whom can fill the whole hotel with noise as the pool in in a dank echo chamber. Then there are parties going on in rooms until 4 am, which staff is apparently the only group who don’t notice. Walls are paper thin.
The exterior is smack in the middle of a couple crowded blocks of commercial crap and heavy traffic.

Room was clean, enjoyed the continental breakfast. Since the pool is in the lobby there is a lot of noise which was not great. Also rooms had windows that don’t look outside by rather to hall way which seemed weird

It’s a dump. They need to raze it and just start over. Bathroom was tiny and the tub gross… dingy yellow with nasty bath mat inside. Bathroom actually smelled like pee. Room was very worn out; peeling wall paper, dinged furniture, worn out linens etc. water was scalding hot & kids almost burned themselves trying to wash hands. Pool was somewhat cloudy and hot tub a strange greenish color. We got outta there next day and went to other side of town to brand new Hampton inn, it was worth the drive. The staff was nice at Quality Suites but that’s about it!

Man is this place a dump. The atmosphere felt like a prison. There were no windows too. I paid almost $ 200 to stay here because it was the week of graduation. Rip off!
This place was absolutely disgusting. So dirty!!! I go to the tub and there was orange stuff all around it. I thought maybe it was rust. Nope… I took a wet towel and rubbed it and it came off. My skin started to crawl at how absolutely nasty this place is.
The breakfast was decent because I only ate the packaged products. I didn’t want to take the chance of food poisoning or God knows what other disease that is laying around at this dump.

The manager here, Pedro, is dishonest and unfriendly. I came into town for a local weekend convention, and found that the hotel didn’t have convenient access to the convention — not their fault, obviously — and decided to book a room at a separate hotel. We checked into the new hotel, and called to cancel our reservations at this hotel.
Obviously, I expect to pay a cancellation penalty. However, Pedro informed me that I would be paying for BOTH nights. I hung up and looked up Quality Inn University’s cancellation policy, which clearly stated that I would only be charged for one night’s stay. When I called Pedro on trying to scam me out of one night’s stay ($ 114!), he simply admitted it instead of apologizing. I feel bad for any younger convention attendees who might be intimidated by this manager into paying unfair fees.

This place was a great meeting spot for a little family party we had. The pool was fun for the kids and the slide made and extra splash! The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. They’re pretty small and kinda run down. If it weren’t for the pool there would be no reason to come to this hotel. Although, they do give two free drink tickets per room which is fun. The front desk staff were laid back and friendly. Decent spot.

Victoria. She works at the front desk here. Oh my goodness, this woman deserves a huge raise. But seriously. I could rave for days but I’m typing on my cell. She made us feel welcome, made us laugh, helped us change or reservation & gave us ideas of where to go in town.
My card stopped working. It happens. When I went back to the front desk she helped replace it while mentioning I «should keep it away from anything magnetic.. . like my personality». Comedy gold ladies and gents. She works the nights so come late for the most courteous yet intoxicating witty woman in the hotel biz. And good Lord her phone voice! You’ll know what I’m talking about, I promise.
As a real estate recruiter who travels as part of my job I appreciate everything about my experience here. I dream of a world full of Victoria type personalities. Imagine how happy we would all be. Oh, did I forget to mention she ran an extra blanket down to the room. She knew I would get chilly but was gracious enough to give me a fan as well (I sleep with the noise).
As far as the hotel goes it has great location, a sweet pool & hot tub, free breakfast, big (slightly outdated) rooms but this isn’t the Ritz. Cheap&clean is everything I need.
One more time, Victoria rocks ! ! Don’t forget that raise Mr Boss-​man.

The staff at the front desk were friendly so no complaints there. The rooms were dated but clean. I would go back in a pinch but won’t go out of my way to stay there again…

From the outside this hotel looks kind of dingy, but once you get inside it is actually a pretty decent place to stay!
PROS:
Pretty good breakfast bar that is open until 11AM (great for people like me, who like to sleep-​in on vacations!). Waffle-​maker is definitely a huge plus. Free coffee/​tea and cookies available in the lobby at all times. Hot tub and large indoor pool available for guest use. Small elliptical room. There are also large open areas near the lobby to hang out in, which include arcade machines, pool tables, and a small bar.
CONS:
Swimming pool is out in the open in the middle of the hotel. This means anyone just walking to their room can see what you’re up to. Same thing with the hot tub. I mean, most people know how to mind their own business, but once in awhile it gets kind of creepy… Another con was that our room was consistently chilly. Even when we turned off the AC, it was still pretty chilly and heating is not available in the summer months. Also, they did not come in during our 2-​night stay to change the sheets or replace the towels, which I thought was strange, but they will give you more clean towels if you call down and ask.
All in all, for $ 80 a night I would come again.

If you want a clean hotel in a good location with a very friendly staff, stay at this wonderful hotel. The breakfast is wonderful. We had a suite for around $ 80. It is VERY clean. We stayed on July 1. Where do all these 1 stars come from? This is what every hotel should be like. If you need a good place to sleep in Lansing, stay at this wonderful hotel.

This is a bad hotel in a good location if you want to be near MSU. Our room had a thick smoke smell that seemed to get worse every time we came and went. This vintage 60’s property has been painted over but not improved since the Nixon years. Crapy service, poor parking and a staff that seems to feel that they are doing you a favor. I would (and have) stayed at some very nice properties closer to campus. For the $ 119 per night we paid for a king room I would have invested in a moldy camper.
Do not stay here…

I am a frequent stayer in the Choice Hotels chain and I would have to rate this as their worst property in my experience. This appears to be an older property that at one time had direct entrance from outside into the rooms. The pool area was apparently enclosed, a bar/​lounge area added, and most of the rooms now overlook the enclosure. Louder than hell, although they do seem to enforce an 11 pm quiet hours. Our room was small but reasonably clean. Quite dated, refrigerator did not cool. Noise was unbearble. A first in my experience is when the A/​C is running that in essence you share a bathroom vent with neighboring room (s). We returned from dinner at 10 pm and the stench was overwhelming, as if someone had taken a dump in our bathroom while we were gone. Turned A/​C off and stench eventually dissipated. Overall would call it the hotel from hell, unless you are a heavy drinker with loud children whom you don’t care to supervise.

Had an overnight stay here for the quiz bowl state championship. For a bunch of high schoolers, it’s a great hotel. The free foo– I mean continental breakfast is pretty good. I mean, there’s a waffle maker. Teenagers love waffle makers. The pool/​hot tubs were vacant that weekend, which was also pretty convenient.
There’s an indoor pool which was a hit with all of us. There’s a little blue pool slide as well… DON’T GO ON IT UNLESS YOU ARE A CHILD. Seriously. Also no lifeguards so we could do running dives into the deep end without getting in trouble, which was another plus.
Rooms were pretty average, nothing special. Clean rooms, lots of towels, etc. Walls were kind of thin, considering me and my roommates had to go next door and tell our male teammates to shut up at 2 in the morning.
Unfortunately, this hotel is pretty far from MSU’s campus, so you have to drive and park at one of the parking structures then walk around downtown. Luckily the drive is less than ten minutes.
Want to know one of my best memories from the trip? Mocking our coach for ordering a single room that ended up having a heart-​shaped jacuzzi.

Rooms not bad. Bring the kids because this hotel is loud and the pool is built for playing. Not an adult relaxing hotel.

Great value, great service and amenities. Price fare for experience. Perfect for a michigan state university review for our high school daughter! Close enough to campus.
