Ted’s Moving & Hauling

It’s hard to believe the last reviewer and I are talking about the same movers. Ted’s Moving is a small company with a few guys from the Air Force doing moves as a side job, but Chris and Zack exceeded my expectations, moving us on Saturday, August 26^th during Hurricane Irene. Before the move I had a lot of questions for Chris, and he always returned my calls and emails promptly. They showed up when they said they would and were friendly, fast, and professional. They moved both me and my boyfriend in only 5 ½ hours into our new apartment, which is incredible since it was two different moves and it was their 3^rd move of the day and you’d expect them to be tired! They never seemed to consider stopping and kept going in the tropical storm force wind and the rain until the job was done. The price was extremely reasonable, given the quotes I got from other companies. The only downside is that they only have a pickup truck to move with, so if you have a lot of stuff i’d recommend renting a U-​Haul, as I did. Overall, a great experience, and I’d highly recommend them.

I would not recommend them. They arrived 1.5 hours late AND did not have any of the right equipment– no dollies or blankets. Also, they couldn’t get my sofa into my new place. I just bought a new sofa, which is bigger than one I had wanted them to move, and the new sofa fit the elevator perfectly. So, the very reason I hired movers (to move my sofa), was for naught.
So, 7 hours later, less one sofa, and a broken mosaic end table later… i was frustrated.
Even after this horrible experience, I still recommend sticking to the local moving companies — just not this one.
