History
Established in 1913.
Cairn University enjoys a heritage that spans over one hundred years. Founded in 1913, it is the result of the merger of two separate institutions which formed Philadelphia Bible Institute in 1951.
Over the next half-century, the institution strengthened its academic offerings and became a fully accredited college in 1958 (Philadelphia College of Bible). In 1979, PCB relocated from Center City to Bucks County, where it continued to grow and develop a wide variety of undergrad and graduate program offerings. Approved for university status in 2000, the school changed its name to Philadelphia Biblical University, and then again in 2012 to Cairn University.
The institution has had many names in its 100-year history, but as PSOB, BIOP, PBI, PCB, PBU, and now as Cairn, the University’s central commitment to Christ and His Word remain.
