Steak ‘n Shake

Very fast sevice, very nice waitress and good food. They are slammed for lunch and are doing a great job! Thanks!

We used to stop by this S&S 2 or 3 times a month. On our last visit (12−18−15) we went in and there was a party of three waiting to be seated ahead of us. We waited about 5 minutes and no one seated them nor us. We counted at least 9 workers with 2 of them chatting with each other and still no one came. Mind you there were many open tables and booths. Finally we had enough and walked out leaving the others who were there before us still waiting to be seated.
The service certainly has gone down hill. The time before this visit they got the drinks out but did not bother to bring the side of chili until they brought the meal. Everywhere else we eat the server brings the sides at the same time as the drinks. And then when we went to pay we had to wait for someone to come to the register to take our money. The cook saw us waiting and had to yell twice before someone came to the register.
I complained to corporate and received an email that they would look into it and contact local management about this. As of this date (12−31−15) I have heard nothing more from them.
If you are looking for the good place to eat with good service I would advise you to avoid this particular Steak & Shake. Management needs to get the service level back to where it used to be.
After we walked we gave our business to Bob Evans and got great service. We felt our business was appreciated there.

Horrible service. It took nearly 45 minutes to be seated. And there were plenty of open tables and booths. Our shakes did not come out to our table until our meals did. No valid excuse was provided. Server was uninterested and par at best. The food was however fresh and delicious. Overall not a good experience. Second time at this location with the exact same performance. Won’t visit a third time. I’d recommend you just avoid this one. Save the annoyance and headache. Countless customers walked out while we waited to be seated.

Their employees are not in a hurry to help you. I can’t believe people can move this slow. They are more interested in talking to each other.
Lets just say they make a good argument for keeping minimum wage at $ 7 an hour.

Food was hot & delicious. Service was fast & friendly. Milkshake was the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Prices are reasonable. Best burgers & shakes of any fast food joint. Chili cheese fries are da bomb! Trans* friendly.

Haven’t been to this location for about a year because it was felt that service and quality were sliding downhill. It seems that holds true, because the most recent visit went as follows:
Both hamburgers were not right. Waitress never came back to check on us once food was delivered. She came back when we were done and then seemed shocked things weren’t right. She offered to get me a plate of bacon…
I waited 5 or 6 minutes for someone to come to the register. Then the person didn’t even ask how things were.

Terrible food service… I didn’t realize you could mix up two hamburger orders but it happened. I do not recommend the Lancaster establishment…

Its just your standard steak and shake. same food as any other one i’ve been to — sometimes you really just need that kind of consistency when you’re looking for a familiar place to eat. the prices are great, you can get an entire meal for 4 dollars. and the shakes are always amazing.

Don’t really know what happened with this place it was in very poor condition. Tables dirty and the floor was utterly disgusting and all this at the beginning of lunch time. Very disappointed

We get seated and the waitress begins to tell us how busy and understaffed they are before she even greets us or takes our drink order. Then she precedes to tell is if we are thinking about ordering milkshakes it will be forever. When our food does come my sandwich is cold and there are barely any fries on the plate. The restaurant was super dirty and the thought of eating there grossed me out.

Service was awesome (Stevi?) Was great and very helpful. The restaurant is cute and kitschy. Think Johnny Rockets. The food was a little bland/​plain but the shakes were great. I felt like I got my money’s worth. Most likely will come back.

I’m giving this streak and shake a 2 out of 5 because I almost always get good service and good prices but the last time we ate there just killed it for me… we had to wait for 5 minutes while the staff goofed off behind the drink station and when we did get sat it was another 10 before we got served! After that we ordered our shakes (you can’t go to steak and shake and not get a shake) I ordered the double chocolate fudge and my girlfriend ordered the cookie dough… well when those finally got delivered (another 10 minutes) they were both wrong! Mine was a brownie shake and my girlfriends was cookies and cream. I didn’t complain about mine but my girlfriend hates cookies and cream so we had hers remade (only 5 minutes this time).
So I ordered the cheesy cheddar steak burger and when that was delivered the cheese was barely covering a third of the burger. And it was hard and not melting like the picture. When I mentioned it to the server she just stared blankly and said she’d tell the cook! No offer to remake it and no offer for anything else to be fixed or taken off the bill! So I held my tongue and we went to pay. Which then when she asked about everything I said it was alright except the cheese. And get this, then she told me the cook said its cheddar cheese and it gets hard when you don’t eat it right away! The burger was the first thing I ate so unless it had been sitting in the window for 15 minutes it’s crappy old cheese! I was very unhappy about this whole visit. I won’t be back for a while… By the way did I mention this was all at 11:30 at night and we were the only guests other than one older gentleman at the bar… unbelievable

My wife and I stopped in for a bite to eat on our way back to Columbus yesterday.
First impression: clean, busy (good sign), attentive wait staff.
We both tried the birthday cake shake and really enjoyed it. The sprinkles are a nice touch. The rest of our food was of good quality.
Our server was friendly, but gave my wife and I each other’s plates. She also forgot to bring me more water when I asked (those shakes can make you thirsty!). Additionally, no one was available to check us out after we finished our meal, and the gentleman who did come over looked a little confused. It’s the little things that you remember, right?
Not a five-​star Steak N Shake, but worth it if you need a quick meal.

Is always pretty good. Must have been a new manager working at the Lancaster location. The team was hoppin! Food was and usually is pretty good and you can’t beat the price. I still don’t get how you can do a steak n shake drive through??? HMMMM???

Great food, kids eat free on the weekends, always coupons readily available, and the best milkshakes around. What more is there to say?
