Help Handyman

Terrible terrible service!
I called Toby because I read his Unilocal reviews and it looked like he was a reliable handyman to use, sadly I was very disappointed. I called him Thursday and scheduled to get a quote on a list of various items in my condo that needed to be fixed and he said sure ill meet you Friday at 11:30.
I get to the condo at 11:30…10 minutes pass by I text him and gave him a call. He didn’t pick up so I left a MSG. Another 10 mins go by still no answer. 30 mins later I call again no pick up and I leave another msg and another text message. It’s now been almost 2 hours and I still haven’t heard from him… not even to cancel the appointment or say hell be late.
How do you run a business when you don’t pick up your customer calls, reply to voicemails or text messages?
Terrible I would definitely never call again nor would I recommend him to anybody.

I called and was told to find someone else. Before I could figure out what happened, the handyman had already hung up on me. Very rude!

Installed a shower door for me. Did the work fast and no mess. I would use him again.

I emailed Toby during the week about some fence repair I needed done. He came over Sunday morning and had a section of my fence replaced with new wood, reattached, and painted to match by early afternoon. Highly recommended.

Had a simple job. Sent an email to one of the two email addresses on his website. Waited two days and no response. Forwarded the message to the second address and included my phone # so he could call if he preferred. Waited a week, no response, found someone else.

Probably does a good job if you live locally and doesn’t have to refer anyone out to you…

After dealing with a painter that could not meet my timeline, I contacted Toby. Toby was responsive at first. He listened to my needs and answered my questions. We then agreed on a price, a deposit, and a timeline. The day before the job was about to start, I wanted to again confirm the appointment. All of a sudden he was unresponsive. I was expecting him to start work the next morning, so I stayed up until 3am the night before to see if he would respond. The next day I got up early to wait for him. No response and no visit to the house. I was left stranded without a painter, and I was unable to get the job done before old friends came to visit from the east coast. It was completely embarrassing and ruined me. Toby ended writing back to me later and said «So, did you find someone to paint your house?» Apparently a more important job fell through for him. He may have some decent reviews (in fact that is why I contacted him to begin with), but I would not trust this guy after costing me a lot of my pride, money, and time. Find someone reliable.

After dealing with a dishonest nightmare contractor that had to be fired mid-​project, I called Toby for help! Toby was able to schedule two days of work for me on a Friday and Saturday. His work was excellent. I had a few projects that I needed done and he was able to complete the all of them on time and on budget. He intalled a new toilet, flange, vinyl flooring, trim and caulking for a master bathroom and it looked great. I also needed some electrical work done and his crew was able to repair and restore the power to 3 outlets in no time at all. My last project was to repair a faulty garage door that wouldn’t open and close and Toby was able to identify the problem and fully restore function to my garage door. I was very impressed by his quality work and competitive pricing. I would highly recommend Toby in the future and would definitely use him again.

I had some water damage and the original company charged me a arm and a leg to dry and demo the damage areas. I didn’t want to go with them for the restoration. I contacted Toby, and base on the reviews from Unilocal.He was a nice guys and didn’t push you for the sale. He did want he said and the quote was on the spot. The job was nicely done.

Toby has done a variety of jobs for me — big and small. He quoted me reasonable prices and his work is acceptable, but it came with some problems. He’s unreliable when it comes to keeping appointments. On a few occasions he kept us waiting, canceling his arrival at the last minute because of current jobs he was behind on. By the time he was able to arrive, it was often late and very inconvenient for us. I’ve cleared my day more than once waiting for Toby to either arrive for a job or to call me when he’s on his way over. On several occasions it has resulted in wasted time, where he kept pushing the appointment back until we were forced to reschedule — unprofessional in my opinion. He’s very nice and personable, is honest about his work and estimates, but from my experience isn’t reliable.
He was also not considerate of keeping things clean. He partially renovated our home, but left a mess everywhere. Never took the time to cover furniture, to tent off areas, or to cover the floors. Our entire house was covered in dust, paint was splattered on furniture (dining table was damaged because it was uncovered and used to set down tools), and left fine debris everywhere. I understand that renovations are messy, but my experience with other handymen and contractors for other renovations has shown that some do take the time and trouble to carefully prep the home to keep and contain the mess at a minimum level.
After giving him several chances and various jobs, we were left increasingly frustrated, so I finally gave up and decided to drop his services. Toby is great for small jobs (no problems there), but the larger jobs were problematic. After having hired other handymen for a variety of work (big and small) since Toby’s last visit, I’ve realized that there are other people that can better meet our needs.

Toby was on time and very professional. He is organized and has whole house knowledge. When he left everything was clean and working. I would call him in a minute for the next project. He came highly recommended and remains in that catagory.

I Unilocaled for a Plumber Handyman after the Home Depot installers goofed on my dishwasher installation. Toby was nearby and was willing to come by late in the day.
He not only fixed the dishwasher, but cleaned up some other issues. Fair pricing and straight forward. Will use again for a little shower issue we have.

Complete bath remodel & entire house crown moulded. Toby rocks. Not only does he do 1^st class work, but he’s punctual, reliable and just an overall nice guy. He’ll be my first to call for my next project. Thank Toby. Sixx

Excellent service with a great attitude! Toby is organized, professional, responsive and his quotes were completely reasonable. Toby cares about the job that he’s doing and wants to do it the right way. We had him complete several repairs that had been left untouched for months, if not years, around our house (i.e. window repair and replacement, weatherproofing doors, repairing an electrical outlet, etc). He went above and beyond and we couldn’t be more pleased. I would highly recommend him to anybody that is in need of a handyman. We will definitely use him again!

I called Toby based off the other Unilocal reviews. I needed a handyman and dreaded trying to find one. I saw Toby listed and read the other glowing reviews and said to myself; OK Toby has great reviews and hopefully he will fix my toilet quickly. Toby called to say he was on his way and was extremely kind and nice. He was super polite and kind, taking the time to explain to me all the fancy parts inside my toilet (it has water saving sections) and explained what was causing the issue. I will be calling Toby again when I need a household repairs done!!!

I called Toby on a Friday afternoon to inquire about installing my beautiful new dishwasher. He returned my call promptly and replied that he would come out on Sunday. At first I thought I heard wrong… A handyman who works on the weekends? Wow! Toby even called me the day of our appointment to let me know that he was packing up his tools and on his way. Turned out that my «beautiful new dishwasher» was damaged, but Toby even offered to drive with the hubs to Home Depot to exchange it if they had the same model in stock (which of course, they did not).
Toby is courteous, punctual, very knowledgeable, and just gives off a good vibe overall. I found myself looking around the house for more projects (isn’t there always something?) and I know I will be calling him soon. Highly recommended.

Toby did an awesome job sanding/​staining my front door, fixing my shower/​bathtub and also fixing a 20+ foot high ceiling light. My parents recommended him and I’m so glad that they did. He’s responsible, punctual (rare to see this these days) and responsive (he calls back and e-​mails back right away). Toby does excellent, quality work and he’s very knowledgeable and easy to work with!!! I’m not going to wait months to try fix things myself… I already have Toby’s number saved in my «Favorites»!

Toby at Help Handyman, did some work for me on my garage door, front gate, and layed some concrete. The difference between Help Handyman and others is that Toby really cares. He wants to do the job so that you are totally satisfied at the least expense cost to you. He is not happy unless his customer is happy. He is honest, sincere, and truly gets pleasure from doing a great job for you. My friend needed some plumbing done, and she called Toby at my recommendation. Toby took care of the job that same day! She was very pleased and will recommend Toby for other jobs as well.
