Wadsworth Animal Hospital

I came here yesterday. The receptionist was super nice and friendly with my pup. The vet was extremely nice as well. She seemed really sweet and caring. The receptionist proactively called the person on the phone to pay for my bill.
Unfortunately, I had to return the next day because my pup’s cut opened up again. The receptionist was kind of cold. I asked the receptionist to call the person to pay my bill– like the other receptionist did the day before. She gave me a dirty look and said okay. A few minutes later, she told me they hung up on her and told me to call them. … like it would make a difference if she called again? And isn’t this her job? So I called and then handed the receptionist my phone while she received the billing information. I don’t like when strangers use my personal cell phone…
Other than that, this place still gets 4 stars for the extremely nice vet. Also, they have walk in hours from 2 – 5 which were convenient for me during my time off. And they offer complimentary beverages in the waiting room. I think they might be close to expired or something– there was Santa Claus on the cans on Jan 29^th but maybe not.
Overall, decent experience.

Dr Moffett is the best. She used to take care of my Akbash dog, Gandalf at Rising Sun Animal Care in Denver. I was sad to see her leave.
You are in good hands with Dr Moffett. She is super friendly, exudes care for animals and knows her stuff. Highly recommended.

We found WAH on Unilocal when our affordable vet wasn’t available to see our little fur baby and they happened to be OPEN on Saturday and right down the street AND accepting walk-​ins. The cost was very affordable and the tech and the vet listened to everything we had to say, and my bf talks a lot, so we were very happy to have patient, caring, loving people take care of our sweetie. We also appreciated the fact we had options and weren’t forced into getting testing we didn’t need to do. We have already recommended them and will do so again! Thank you so much, we have found our primary vet!

Thank you, Dr. Moffett, for taking such great care of my cat! When I adopted/​rescued little «Special Agent Sox» earlier this year, I had no idea that her teeth were so badly neglected and she was experiencing health consequences as a result. When I brought her in for her first vet visit in years, her medical needs — both immediate, and for her future well-​being — were addressed with more attention and insight than I usually receive from my own physician! And you were much kinder to my wallet, I might add. :-)
Additionally, I’d like to express my appreciation both for your expertise in caring for senior cats, and for talking *to* me, not talking *down* to me (doctors for humans could take a serious lesson from you, both in keeping up with current medical advances in your field, and also in empathetic and effective «doctor-​patient» communication). Your office staff provided excellent communication and attention to detail, and empathy and kindness were abundant. It’s great to be greeted by name, and to know that everyone in the office has a 100% sincere love of animals and the skills to provide the best care possible. Thank you again!

These guys took such good care of my human. For two years I was sick with high blood pressure and kidney disease, and I couldn’t hunt mice anymore because I was blind. :(I was really tired and it was time to go. The nice vet tech brought my human lots of tissues because she was crying really hard. And the doctor was very reassuring and said my human was doing the right thing. And she really was because I’m much happier now! My human is getting a nice clay print of my paw, and when the ashes come back we’re going to scatter them in my favorite place to hunt mice. I’m very grateful to these nice people for taking care of my human. — Miss Kitty

This is the place that I take my 2 fur babies, and I am so glad that they have such caring friends here. I call them friends because they really do know me and my cats. They get excited and yell «Dust Bunny!!!» and «T-​REX!!» in excitement when I walk in. They always take great care of my cats, and I appreciate their professionalism, expertise, and friendliness. I have been coming for 5 years, and I will continue coming here first.

I’ve been bringing my min pin here for her whole life (7 years) and my family has been bringing other dogs here for at least twice as long. They have had some of the same vets operating here the entire time and they all know and remember our pets. My dog is very bratty but she’s actually quite relaxed when I bring her here, The best part is that they are very informative without sounding condescending when they are recommending treatments or examining your pet. They are a little expensive, but I think it is worth it for the great job they do and the fact that they don’t try to push add-​ons on you. PS. If you need a dental for your dog, go in February because they offer a little discount.

I can’t even begin to stress how well I was treated here. I had to take my dog in for emergency care (due to my dog getting into something she wasn’t supposed to) and I didn’t receive any judgement. They went out of their way to help me and when I was reunited with my healthy dog, I couldn’t think of anything to do but hug the Dr. They are compassionate and will do what they can to help you and your pet.
I had been to previous vets who pushed so many tests on me that I ended up paying $ 600+, but WAS understood that I wasn’t the type to spend more than necessary and only recommended what was needed to get her back to herself.

I’ve been lucky to have been going to see Dr. Eisen, at Wadsworth Animal Hospital since 2000. They have seen me through everything from routine health care, diagnosis & treatment of problems to major surgeries for eight dogs and cats over the past 12 years and I can’t imagine going anywhere else. The care and compassion shown to me and all of my animals by the doctor and all of the staff has been more than I could ask for.
Dr. Eisen is always thorough, taking the time to answer any questions that I might have. He’s helped me to treat my dog’s lifelong thyroid problems, working with us to make sure his medication levels were right. He’s worked with me to make sure that the treatment fits the patient and has always been honest with me — helping me balance pros & cons when considering treatment options. And, he’s a great surgeon too, as my now 13 year old kitty with the re-​built hip can attest to.
Wadsworth also has an amazing group of support staff too. They are all compassionate, courteous and efficient. I highly recommend them if you want top quality medical care for your pet.

As long as I live in the Denver area, I will continue to go to Wadsworth Animal Hospital and highly recommend them to anyone searching for a great vet!
Dr. Eisen, Alison & the staff are all fantastic, friendly, knowledgable, and above all care about my big nasty dog! I have also taken in my friend’s cat who was due for rabies and everyone was so nice and gentle with her, I could tell she felt as comfortable as possible (for being at a vet ;]).
Prices are great, much more reasonable even than the vet I previously worked for, and nothing is ever recommended that is not needed. They are very thorough in answering any questions and explaining suggested vaccines/​tests but not pushy at all with them. The hospital is AHAA accredited, provides some retail items, and has a great website. They always do a courtesy call after any visit and recognize my dog & I whenever I come in!

Great clinic if you are looking for acupuncture for your pet! Dr. Olsen’s rates at the most reasonable in Denver (believe me, I researched a handful of places). Having worked in the animal industry I can tell you she is really one of the most caring Veterinarians out there.
You make an appt for an initial consult were they evaluate your pet and get all the relevant medical details etc. your first acupuncture treatment is included in the consult. Making subsequent appointments is quick and easy too. They have a comfy yoga mat that your pet can rest on while getting the treatment which is nice. I have noticed a difference in my geriatric dogs mobility after the treatments which is comforting to know that he is getting some relief and benefiting from it.

I was a client for many years with my dogs and cat, but after realizing they care more about revenue than patient care, I no longer feel they are trustworthy enough to care for my aging dog. Between their insulting tone about my dog being a few pounds overweight and pushing and overpriced teeth cleaning on me, I looked else where for a second opinion and found that she did not need to go though the services they were aggressively pushing. Find a vet office that cares more about the animals and not their bottom line. And for those who are looking for places with walk-​in hours, they aren’t the only ones.

I am a crazy dog lover and this clinic understands that! This amazing group of people will be part of my family forever. I had a 17 year old dog that required a lot of care, attention and medication. Normally, I would feel as if no one could care for him the way I did but they did that and more. I took my boy there for regular checkups, grooming and even acupuncture. I would email them or call them at least a few times a week and they were always accommodating and polite. The care they gave him and my family after he was gone was something I will never forget.

Love the fact that this place takes walk-​ins! My old vet didn’t seem to know anything about large breed dogs… My great dane had some leg problems that weren’t getting fixed and weren’t getting diagnosed properly. I went to Wadsworth Animal Hospital for a second opinion. The vet knew what the problem was right away and a treatment course was immediately put into place. The staff here is wonderful especially Allyson and Dr. Eisen. When we move back to CO we will be going back to them!

Just went here for the first time for a cut and for a check up. My cocker spaniel is an old lady so i know she has a lot of needs. They did an amazing job for her hair cut. The vet appointment was probably the best i’ve ever had. She was VERY informative of every question and concern. She even talked to me about issues in the future i might face and showed me what the costs would be. No secrets or hidden fees. I felt that they truly cared and were not rushing to get me in and out! I am so happy to have found Wadsworth Animal Hospital!

ive been taking my babies (two chihuahuas) to wadsworth animal hospital. they were takin care of by dr sylwester. great doc!!! my girls were taken care of with t l c. and the staff has been great. they work with you on appts. what your babies need next. they called me every step of the way when my girls were in surgeryl to me thats was great. above and beyond. yay for the drs and the staff. i wont take my babies any where else.

So it doesn’t get much better than this!
1. Walk-​ins — hello? How awesome is that?! 2 – 5:30pm every day and 9am-​noon on Saturday’s.
2. Great staff! The female vet is top notch!
I do find them maybe a tad pricey for a visit, $ 49 to come see the vet, but hey, it your animal you get what you pay for.
It was only $ 34 to do a blood heartworm test, which is pretty good, even PetsMart vets charge $ 36.
Here’s why I love them: I took my brand new dog to them w/​in 24 hours of getting him just to check up on him. I found out a few days after that the former owner decided being up to date on shots was so last year, and never got them. I didn’t want to go back in pay $ 50 for the vet + $ 16 for shots. I was going to run after my heartworm test to Foothills Animal Center who only charges $ 10 per shot btw 3−4pm on W and F. However, Wads made it happen and gave him the shots for $ 16 w/​no additional appointment and the doctor even asked me some other questions and I showed her some of my concerns. That’s what I call service!
I know it’s expensive having a dog, but it’s pretty bad when someone say they’re up to date and then you find out their not after you already paid for 1 vet appointment. So it was pretty great of Wads to do the shots and not sending me down the street.
My dog also came w/​an icky dry nose, and the 1^st vet gave me a cream for $ 14 we put on every night, it’s been 2 weeks and the nose is a normal dog nose.
They’ll take great care of your pets!

«Do you take walk-​ins?»
That was my first question to Wadsworth Animal Hospital, the third vet I’d called in the space of about 5 minutes. My first call was to Planned Pethood, the most recent Denver-​area vet to have seen our Mindy-​dog… albeit only for a rabies booster. They didn’t take walk-​ins, but steered me towards Alameda Animal Hospital. Oh yes, I’d passed it many times! The sign out front definitely read «WALK INS WELCOME.»
But when I called, I was turned away. Thank goodness I called first! Despite their sign, they don’t accept walk-​ins anymore. Um, you might want to take that sign down then.
On a whim, I looked up the number for Wadsworth Animal Hospital. I knew it was nearby, and nearby was what we needed. Mindy, our 9-​year-​old lab-​coonhound mix, wasn’t doing so well. She’s epileptic, and while she usually pulls through her occasional seizure within a few minutes and is good as new again, she’d been rocked by two back-​to-​back ones that morning and didn’t appear able to walk. We needed a walk-​in, and we needed it now.
«Do you take walk-​ins?» I’d asked.
«Between 2 and closing, yes.» It was mere minutes before 2pm, so into the car we lifted our ailing pooch and off we went.
Still disoriented, possibly wracked with mini-​seizures, partially blind (as the vet later discovered), and completely uncoordinated, it wasn’t an easy time for Mindy in the waiting room. She lost control of her bowels a couple times, but the Vet Techs and receptionist were more than helpful with sympathy and cleanup. Even with no appointment, we were seen in less than a half-​hour. I’ve waited longer than that in some doctor’s offices for which I DO have an appointment!
Dr. Anema and a Tech attended to Mindy with care and courtesy, asking questions and explaining options along the way. Very kind, and very professional. She sent us on our way after a blood draw and with a prescription for anti-​convulsants and antibiotics. Within hours of her first dose, Mindy appeared to be returning to semi-​normal. She even stood up and snagged something off the kitchen counter! Umm. good dog?
Three days later we took a much-​improved Mindy in for a follow-​up. More blood was taken, as the earlier blood draw pointed to a possible issue with her liver, but the difference between the dog we brought in on Monday and the one we brought in this morning was like night and day. She’s not out of the woods yet, but I think we’ve found us a regular vet. Thank you, Dr. Anema!
***edited to add: Thanks for all the well-​wishes for Mindy! She’s doing much much better. She’s on anti-​seizure meds and slowly but surely returning to her old, crazy self. Four paws up for Dr. Anema and Wadsworth Animal Hospital!
