Tobin Heating and Air Conditioning

I had Tobin come out and give a quote on a new A/​C unit a few weeks ago. Their estimator came out promptly at the specified time and was very thorough in their inspection of the current equipment. We had a 3 year old furnace, and they recommended we match the furnace equipment. (They also conveniently worked with and stocked that same brand). The estimator left and we had a full quote and contract emailed to us quickly.
The quote was very fairly priced. It was exactly what I imagined a new AC unit would cost with installation. I was able to price out the equipment myself, and it wasn’t unreasonable given the labor involved. I did get several quotes from other HVAC companies and all the other quotes were several thousand dollars more, and did not quote the same brand. Tobin gave us everything we wanted.
We scheduled the work a few weeks later and again Tobin’s people arrived promptly during the specified time frame. They got to work removing the old equipment and installed the new units, lines, electrical and got everything charged up and tested. The whole process took less than 5 hours. They gave me some tips, answered any questions I had and generally did a good clean job.
I would highly recommend Tobin. The other big name guys charged a big name price. Tobin doesn’t appear to have nearly as big of an advertising presence, but they were just as professional. No doubt they get a lot of customers through word of mouth, since that’s how we heard about them! If you’re reading this review, give them a shot!

Tobin recently replaced two 27 year old furnaces in my house. They did a fantastic job in both planning the job and installing the furnaces. They were very professional, worked very cleanly and cared about getting the installation perfect. When they answered my numerous questions, you could tell they answered with a wealth of experience and knowledge. This is a great company you can trust.

I have used Tobin twice now for my AC. Both times I have been very pleased. They are very knowledgable & extremely nice. I feel they are also very honest. My most recent experience they recommended the cheapest option. I highly recommend this company based on my wonderful experiences.

Tobin came out to my home and advised that I needed a new heating & air system in order to make my upstairs bearable throughout the summer. The cost for a new heating and air, plus installation, was $ 7,000. (After Tobin installed the new unit they discover that the reason the old unit was not working properly was because it had a restrictor on it only allowing 70% efficiency. Therefore, a new unit was not necessary.) The new unit failed to remedy the problem. Next, Tobin insisted that the problem was now due to the duct work not functioning properly and it would need to be replaced. The cost to replace the ductwork was an additional $ 10,000.00 dollars. Inaddition to the $ 10,000.00, I had to hire professional cleaners for $ 2,700.00 to remove the dirt and soot from my entire home (including my furniture, apolstry, drapes, linens, clothes, carpets, etc…) bc Tobin failed to cover the vents throughout the home.
After replacing the Heating and Air unit and all the duct work throughout the house, the upstairs still remained extremely hot. Tobin now claimed that the problem existed bc the upstairs vents needed to be extended to the ceiling so the cold air could circulate better. This would cost an additional $ 3,000.00. Upon returning home, I find Tobin employees and all their tools gone, and the air vents placed in the middle of the walls, not at the top. I called Tobin and explained that the vents were in the wrong place and they needed to be moved up bc it precluded anyone from using the one wall available for hanging artwork, or flat screen TV etc… Tobin stated that if I agreed to pay them in full, they promised they would come back out and move the vents where we had originally agreed.
Tobin never came back out to move the vents, and the upstairs remains extremely hot to this day. Lastly, I had another heating and air company come out today and assess the problem. The problem resulted from Tobin failing to connect the new ductwork in the basement to the ducts in the walls. This will cost me an additional $ 4,987.00!
Today’s lesson is don’t use Tobin unless you too want to donate (
scammed out of) $ 22,700.00.

These guys are GREAT! We’ve used them for several years for our house as well as our rental house. They’ve replaced an ancient furnace, redone duct work and last summer installed an A/​C unit for us. Very fairly priced and they do excellent work.

Tobin is great! They installed a new AC unit in my 80 year old house which had previously had NONE. They are easy to work with, fast, well-​priced, and answer questions about things that don’t even benefit them.
