Always awesome service! Friendly staff and amazing food! I would bring my friends there anytime, especially in the mornings during the week.

Great bar, decent prices and good food :-) Cristina is amazing as a bartender :-) definitely a place worth stopping by, one of our typical stops before watching a movie next door. Definitely recommend :-)

The Blonde bartender. tone who works on mondays. has to be the worst service employee on the planet. If I owned this spot I would definitely boot her out the door. No wonder they have to close early due to lack of customers! Not to mention ALL of the staff talks major trash about the Korean owner and blames their poor service and attitude on her. I will be eating and shooting pool somewhere else from now on. I would rather die of boredom then support this place with my hard earned money. :) Good luck Green Pup, you’re going to need it!

This place used to be the spot to go. Good food, good beer, good times. Went there last month while waiting for my new tires at discount tires, the bartender was playing darts with some of the customers as I sat down. She said she would be right with me. 10 minutes later she asked me what I wanted and I asked to try two sample beers on tap. She acted put out from there, so I decided to ease the moment by explaining I haven’t been here in a long time. She replied in a way she doubted me and that she has never seen me before. I finished off my beer and left, but I was disappointed in my visit. So, today I decided to go back because my luck has it my other tire went flat so I did the same as last time. Except this time I had my daughter and mom with me. We went to the Green Pup to grab a pizza. It just opened and seen a lady unlock the door. Right when we step in she said you have to be 21 to come in. I explained we just wanted to order a pizza but she said ya you have to be 21. We left and once again I was very disappointed. And it makes me sad because this place used to be great. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Went in for drinks as we waited for our movie and had a good time. Maybe it’s a fluke based on the previous reviews, but nothing too recent has been said, so maybe it changed Friendly bartenderss, patrons were talkative and they have a good selection of beer. Know what you are walking into, it’s a local dive bar that has sports, and if friendly for down to earth working class people, thus the high rating.(For what it is its a great place) Would recommend and will return if the situation presents.

Would be more stars but every time we go in there the middle aged small blonde lady ruins the vibe. Don’t expect to get helped when she’s working because she loves to check her phone and bs with the people at the bar. If you want to be waited on sit at the bar.

Went there before a movie. Wanted to play pull tabs was told by the bartender there was no money to payout then regulars came in and they got to play, was not sure what that was about. So I refuse to go back. Way better bars around to be treated like that.

Ahhhh it’s a dive bar. Nothing more and nothing less. During the football season they do have the NFL Season Ticket which is a huge plus. Their food is good for dive bar food. The crowd is either locals or movie goers and it’s easy to tell them apart. LOL. They have pool tables, darts, jukebox, food and a full bar.

It’s most definitely a dive and to call it a sports bar is a bit of a sham, but the staff is very friendly and it has a «neighborhood» feel to it. The drinks are a bit over priced, but they do have a few decent specials and, for bar food, the food isn’t bad. The crowd is very mixed and seems to change daily. I would say they tend to pander to their pool league a bit too much, but otherwise a good dive.

Pretty typical hole in the wall sports bar. Conveniently located next to the Regal cinema. 10 tv’s to watch sporting events. Great place to get a bite to eat and have some drinks during football season or before going to a movie.

This dingy little sports bar is conveniently located near the Lakewood Cinema– which makes it an easy place to stop in for a drink before and/or after going to the movies. With relatively inexpensive drinks(including a $ 2 «mystery shot»), several draught beers, and standard pub grub, it’s not a half bad dive bar regardless of it’s strip mall location. There’s a pool table, dart board, juke box, a few video games, some TVs, and(at least the last time I was in here) a really funky odor making about half the joint uninhabitable.

I’m not sure why their sign claims that they have«World Famous Pizza.» Define World. Define Pizza. Either they’re liars or they don’t know the definitions of these words. They should have a sign that says, «pretty darn good chicken wings.» Their spicy chicken wings are pretty darn good.

About the best thing I can say is that the pizza was slightly better than microwave pizza. The service was nonexistent; I had to wait for the bartender to finish texting(with her back to me) before she would hand me my pizza that I could see sitting on the counter behind her. The place was ridiculously loud and none too clean – the type of place I could tolerate in my early twenties when I didn’t know better, but to be avoided in the future.

«World famous pizza» is a pretty bold statement considering that its not even the best pizza in South Tacoma(see Stonegate). Dense, tastless crust, humdrum toppings and lack of sauce make it so. A day later, I’m still digesting it. We went at lunch and the server was complaining about what a mess the night shift left the place in. TMI. That incohesiveness showed in the food and service. Beer was served in warm glasses. Try elsewhere.

If you want a nice bar, don’t bother here. But as far as casual goes, they have that covered. Yeah, it’s a dive, but the drinks are the right price. I work in that particular parking lot and I used to live off of their $ 1.50PBR’s until I befriended the staff and they started making me my own personal margarita with good tequila, lots of it, and for the right price. It pays to get to know the staff. They will absolutely remember you if you treat them right, and they’ll show their appreciation. Lisa and Kristina, two of their bartenders, are seriously two of the coolest women in the industry. But it really does depend on what you like. Here the price is certainly right and they won’t rip you off… you always get a little more than you pay for. Absolutely my favorite dive in all of Tacoma.

I concur with Otto R. 100% — I was going to type a review but noticed he said it all: Cheap prices, greasy food, dirty inside, nasty bathrooms, tilted pool tables, ugly wait staff — everything you come to love about Tacoma’s taverns.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a sports bar located in a strip mall before coming across Green Pup. It intrigued me, and after discovering the the movie I wanted to see next door had sold out, I decided to give strip mall drinking a chance. The place has the welcoming façade of a typical dive bar: neon signs, sports on the tv, and duct tape holding the booth’s upholstery together. Oh sure, there’s pool, darts, and cheap beer. But instead of the«regulars» you might expect one of these establishments to house, you will find the typical Lakewood crowd. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the area, I present to you Lakehood in a nutshell: white boys decked out in fake bling and G-Unit gear, obnoxious baby mamas and their relentless drama, swarms of Ft. Lewis military guys, top 40 R&B, and a collectively unfriendly vibe. If the Green Pup is used as a stopoff for a quick drink pre– or post– theater, it serves it’s purpose. However, I would not recommend planning an evening out at the Green Pup unless you enjoy the sounds of the KUBE93 playlist blaring as you sip yo drank.

This is a great place to go hang out with your friends and chill. There are two pool tables, 2 dart boards, a fooseball table, and a jukebox for your enjoyment. It’s not too big if a place but it’s great if you’re just looking to hang out with a few friends and take it easy. It’s also conveniently located next to Regal Theater which makes it a great place to hit up before or after a movie! The food is typical pub grub but it’s pretty good. My only complaint is that the service can be very slow when it gets busy!

I’ve always been looking to find a local bar, where I can go, eat some greasy food, get some cheap beer and play some darts, well The Pup is the place for all of that! Service is not the greatest, but, who cares? The drinks are cheap and the food is greasy. Isn’t that what you want from a local watering hole that sits in a strip mall next to a movie theater? Its great especially if you have some wait time for a movie, or miss a movie, you can just walk over to the pup and kill a few beers.
