We had Russ & his crew re-​plaster, tile & deck our pool. Fantastic job! Very professional. Russ explained each step so we understood what to expect.
We had Gardner come by for a qoute prior to Russ at Capstone.
Gardner rep was condescending & after taking up our time being rude, never gave us a qoute.
Loved the results of our pool by Capstone. Great customer service! Pricing very good. The guys were great & Russ was easy to work with through the entire process!

I Setup up a time to meet with Russ, after his company was referred to me by another business partner. He came to the house — spent 30 –45 mins taking measurements, etc. and told me he’d have his bid to me that day or next — never heard from him again.
After a week of no response I emailed to get an eta on his quote… His office left me with this email:
Russ asked me to apologize for him, his jobs have been taking him from one end of the county to the other, which leaves little time in the office. He will have that done for you in the next day or two, and we will be in touch.
2 weeks later and still nothing. Moving on — apparently they don’t need/​want work or can’t handle their current business.

Russ and his crews were great! Very timely with all parts of the project. Crews were efficient and hard working. Russ and his wife were timely getting back to answer questions and things that came up during the process. Could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks!

Man where do i start? Russ and his crew are literally the most organized and professional crew i have ever had do any work for me. These guys really care about the work they are doing for you and it shows. If you want your pool redone, trust me… You want to hire Russ. My pool was jack hammered out, re plumbed and redone. It looks amazing.

My wife and I just completed a 3 year ground up renovation project on our home in Rancho Santa Fe. Of the dozens of trades and subcontractors we had on the job, Capstone Pool & Spa was the most reliable, creative and committed partner on the job! They hit their deadlines, completed the project on budget and over delivered on quality, craftsmanship and customer service. This was a breathe of fresh air when we were busy herding cats on nearly every other facet of the project. I would hire them again which says it all!

We had capstone re plaster and tile our pool, but before we had chosen them we had interviewed many contractors to see who had the best price and knowledge. We thought we had chosen our guy until Russ from Capstone came along. When you sit down with him you instantly get a feeling he knows what’s he talking about and that not only is your property safe in his hands but so is your money. When the project started all the guys were great and the pool came out fantastic. This company takes such pride in their work so much so that if you even question one little thing they will not leave until it’s perfect and I mean the smallest of things. I even caught their clean up crew literally picking specs of cement out of my dirt yard. I could see if it’s grass but come on its dirt, that’s how perfect they want to leave your place. That’s how perfect of a company they are!!!

The company has great customer service and ongoing communication throughout the entire process. Russ really knows what he is doing and runs the company like a well oiled machine, I was surprised how many projects they had going on at the same time because we felt like we were getting their 100% all the time.
The end product was beautiful, they took our 30+ year old pool and made it look modern and NEW again!

We engaged Capstone Pool & Spa to remodel our pool, spa hardscape in early summer 2016. The project entailed replacing the plaster in the pool and spa, tile, removing and reconfiguring water features, replacing pool and spa lighting, relocating electrical boxes, and replacing pool controls, drains and pumps. In addition, Capstone managed all the hardscape consisting of coping, a large concrete deck with decorative stone work, and a fire pit.
The scope of work was large. Russ Peterson came out and managed the proposal process in two visits, on the second of which outlined a straightforward proposal. On a high level, Russ met the deliverables on time and within the stated budget. The minor unanticipated changes were due to rain, adjustments we made to materials, or unforeseen issues with 30+ year old equipment. We’ve undergone many projects, and Russ managed the project the most efficiently we’ve ever experienced. There is a sense of confidence in Russ and his crew in that they’ve seen everything before, and know what they are doing.
His crew was polite, worked hard during a very hot summer, and they never made me feel guilty when I asked for changes to the design midstream. At the end of the project, they left the property pristine. The end result is a beautiful outdoor entertaining space that our family will enjoy for years to come.

I entered this relationship ‘cold’ w/​o a referral and simply went with a gut feeling after having 5 different pool contractors bid on a 20k gallon pool ‘remodel’ (had a 10′ crack in it). Russ came to the table with plenty of options and recommendations and in the end, I got a fantastic remodel that I solely attribute to Russ ‘keeping his thumb on the pulse’ and always doing the right thing, regardless if I was looking over anybody’s shoulder or not. And when I did and didn’t quite like something, he immediately addressed it. A pool transformation is ‘art in progress’ so the ability to work with a customer is as important as the finished product, so Russ and team get 5 stars x2!

Capstone Pool and Spa remodeled our pool this Spring. We interviewed five different pool builders/​remodelers before choosing Capstone. After talking with Russ, we appreciated his honest, «no nonsense» approach. His price was better than some and on par with others, but we just felt we could trust Russ and his crew. We especially liked that Russ’s bid was the most detailed and itemized of any we received. After the demo was done, Russ told us he’d be reducing the price by about $ 1500 because one portion of the demo was not as complex as he expected! Who ever get’s that type of honesty these days! Our old pool was taken down to the gunnite and the stairs were rebuilt to make access easier. We added a Baja shelf with umbrella holders, a fire/​water feature, travertine bullnose coping, Barbados Blue Quartzscape surface, LED light and switched to a salt system. The finished product is AMAZING! We enjoyed the pool more this year than in the previous three years combined! For us, trust and quality were the two most important factors, and Capstone delivered on both, we highly recommend them!

We recently had Capstone remodel our pool. Their owner, Russ, gave us a thorough, itemized bid that was very competitive to all others received. We were impressed with the Unilocal reviews that we read and decided to go with Capstone. Our pool now looks like some 5 star hotel resort with the beautiful tile, coping and pebble plastering that they did. I recommend Capstone to remodel your pool!

Capstone Pool and Spa just finished work on my pool. We had the pool resurfaced, the tile replaced, the spa wall demoed and rebuilt, and new Deck-​o-​Seal put in. I had several companies bid on the job. Capstone’s bid was the highest (not by too much), but it was also the best explained and most thorough. The owner, Russ, came out and did the estimate himself and went over everything in detail. He’s very straight forward and just tells you what you need and what the cost is going to be.
From start to finish, we had an excellent experience. The workers did a great job. The quality of work is excellent. There was even one section of tile that just didn’t look right — it was a little uneven — but I did not notice it until everyone was gone for the day. When I went to show my wife the issue the next evening, it was fixed. I asked the owner if he had mentioned it to the mason, and he had not. This shows me that the workers take pride in what they do and make sure everything is done correctly, and redo it if it is not! I also really appreciated that the work site was cleaned up at the end of every day.
Russ and Liz Peterson and were great to work with. I recommend that you talk to them if you are looking into having your pool worked on.

Capstone is the best. The turned my pool from a zero to a HERO!!! They resurfaced it and re plumbed it. What a spectacular job. You may find some firms slightly cheaper, but trust me it’s not worth selling yourself short. Capstone is highly professional proficient and outstanding.

I recently received a pool remodel and concrete deck replacement from Capstone Pool & Spa Remodeling. Their bid presentation was by far the best of the bids I received. The bid was itemized, so it was clear what I was getting and how much I was paying for it. The other bids consisted of a single dollar amount for the entire job, and far less detail as to exactly what the bid included. Capstone’s work was first class and transformed my backyard. I felt that I got everything I paid for and more. The owners, Russ and Liz Peterson, are a pleasure to deal with. My questions were always answered quickly and honestly. If you are considering a pool remodel or deck remodel/​replacement, I highly recommend Capstone. You owe it to yourself to at least get a bid from these folks for your project.

I had several offers to redo my pool due to a leak in the skimmer and return value. I choise CPS for the professional presentaion they gave me. Others just wrote down a price and a sheet of paper. Although offers were all in about the same price range I was just so impressed with Mr. Peterson, I went with their offer. He went out of his way to accomadate me that I can’t thank him enough. His workman were on time and very fast. I am very pleased with the work and Mr. Peterson’s kindnesses to me. At 85, I need all the kindness I can get. Thank you again Mr. Peterson, I can’t recomend you and your company high enough.
