I am a fan of Gubanc’s. Each time we go I have tried something different and have not been disappointed. The drinks are good as well and the food is priced right. The atmosphere is out of the 70’s and comfortable, but not in an old, dark kind of way.

Great soups and overall menus service is great. Have been here twice with a pleasant experience both times. Will go back for sure.

I have eaten here and few times and the food is always good. It’s pretty affordable and they have a great French dip. My only complaint is they don’t have a kids menu and they aren’t super accommodating about it.

By far my favorite place to eat in Lake O. The crab and artichoke dip is a must ever time I dine there. Chicken parmesan over penne is amazing as well.

Great food, good service. Been there many times but never reviewed it. Gubanc’s stands out among the general lack of good, filling, and diverse restaurants in the area. I frequently gorge on their pulled pork sandwiches and delicious French fries. They also have a surprisingly good beer selection featuring many Portland favorites! Only complaint– ketchup is served in too small of portions.

I love their burgers. The kids especially love the chicken burger. I just wish they had gluten free options, especially buns.

Great food, great service. They do not take reservations even for a group of 6, thought that was a bit strange. The food is displayed beautifully. I had the peaches and cream«soup of the day» and was a bit skeptical about eating that kind of soup… and it was divine… always thought that was a dessert but when mixed with chicken in a great broth we all agreed it was the best. Desserts are large so you might want to think about sharing. Gubancs is one of my favorite go to restaurants in Lake Oswego. I was delighted they allowed our group to have individual checks.

This place has chicken and dumplings like my mom makes. The servers are always as friendly as can be, and they do their jobs without fault. This place gets a rep as a blue-hair establishment, but I like it better than almost any other trendy restaurant in the area. PS, my hair is blue, but not naturally.

We went for dinner last night and had a great time. We had the french dip and the tuna melt and both were very good. Based on Unilocal reviews we ordered the mushroom soup(very tasty). The service was outstanding. I can’t remember the last time I had a server that friendly. For dessert we had the crème brûlée(because who can resist that?) and it was easily big enough for two. The décor is kind of dated, but in a charming, cozy way. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back. If I had to offer up a criticism, it would be that the dinner salad lacked creativity. It was just romaine lettuce with two cucumber slices and sunflower seeds. That could be spruced up a bit. Otherwise great. Thank you!

Gubancs is probably my favorite restaurant in the Lake Oswego area. I have never had a bad meal here. Delicious salads, fish and chips, and burgers. My husband is obsessed with the BOM burger, but did not like the September version of the BOM burger. I would love to explore the cocktail menu but can’t stop ordering the Marion berry lemondrop. It’s amazing.

Okay food yet lacking any real flavor. Fairly pretentious menu and more expensive than it’s worth.

I have been coming to Gubancs for years. It never wavers in the amazing fresh food and sauces that make me comeback over and over again. Whenever I want to treat myself or take friends out, I come to Gubancs. It is a locally owned business. So I feel good supporting a small and quality restaurant with my dollars. Try the Oswego Salad with thousand island made by the chefs. Best thousand Island I have ever had. Or have the fish and chips. The batter is light and melts in your mouth. The presentation is also classy. Outdoor seating is a treat on a summer night with the small fountain and private feel. I love this place!!!

All these positive reviews make me wonder if we just had a meh experience or folks don’t get out much. Went in around 6 on Sat night, party of three. Some server in turbo mode brought us 2(not 3) waters, we had questions about the tap list but she didn’t want to listen and briskly jogged away. 7 minutes later, server came and was very uneducated on the beers unapologetically also in turbo mode. Rush, rush. Seemed he too did not know about the menu, no recommendations, akward… We ordered, food came in a reasonable time, whoops, brought wrong entrée, instead of asking what we ordered the runner(person 3) said, I will check the ticket. Ok. Foods here. Simply just ok. Bland, salty food right out of a old diner. One of our sides was actually ice cold. No one checked on us after the food came. Ok salty food yet no water and empty beer glasses. I normally tip 20/25% I can’t remember the last time I left 10% yet I was sickened to leave even that. So as I said in the beginning maybe it was just an off night but as you can imagine we will not be back. 2 stars, 1 for the meh food and the other cause at least the beer was cold. I sincerely hope you have a better experience.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going to Gubancs for the first time, and I have to say I was very pleased. The décor is very well done, semi partitioned sections bring a private feel and cut down on noise. The food. I was a little unsure of what to try and was told everything is good, and while that’s wonderful to hear I needed a recommendation, which my server provided. She listed the most popular item in each section as well as her favorites. I went for the Ruben as I was told it was the most popular sandwitch and I can see why. It was hands down the best Ruben I have ever had. I am not sure what exactly made it so, but the combination of house made dressing, some very good sauerkraut, and perfectly toasted rye bread. I will be back for another, and to try other items. Dessert was crème brûlée, it had a thicker and well toasted top layer which was appreciated and the serving size was larger than I anticipated. The flavor and texture were very good, with a solid vanilla flavor. One of the best I’ve had, and the best consistency I’ve had in a while. The staff. We were seated right away, and the hostess was friendly. As stated before the server was very helpful as we did not know what to order. Though they were busy we had plenty of attention and the food arrived about a minute after our soup and salad dishes were removed. The timing was perfect. I will be back many times as this was one of my best overall dining experiences.

Came here with the fam on our first night in town. Fun bustling atmosphere, but the service suffered as a consequence – it took at least 30 minutes for them to take our order, and even longer for the food to come out. ***GUBANC’S SPECIALBURGER — Hand-formed 8-ounce natural burger with sautéed mushrooms and onions on a Kaiser roll; fresh fruit. Add cheddar, blue cheese, swiss, or bacon. This was a basically decent burger, but there was really nothing unique or memorable about it, including the meat, buns, or onions & mushrooms. I opted for swiss, which was an innocuous choice. ***FISH&CHIPS — halibut fillet, batter-dipped and deep fried; served with French fried potatoes and tartar sauce. These chunks of halibut weren’t the least bit fishy, plus properly breaded and pleasantly crunchy, which meant a lot. The fries were pretty standard, as were the sauces. ALLINALL: Besides the waiting time, it definitely wasn’t a negative experience – it was the week of Christmas, though, so I’ll cut ‘em some slack. However, likely not remarkable enough to warrant a return visit.

What a great neighborhood pub! The menu has a lot of choices, so everyone can find something to please their palate. Salad, sandwiches, burgers, and dinner entrees. The pineapple margarita is Spicy. I liked it, but it may not be for everyone. We all shared the crab appetizer. Nice & creamy. Our server even brought us more bread. Plus on service! I got the halibut fish & chips. It was tasty, but it would have been nice to have a little coleslaw with it. The fries were good. My mom & sister got the blackened salmon salad and it was great. It came with a side of sourdough too. I would definitely recommend this if you are in the Lake O. area.

Was introduced to Gubanc’s during a recent visit to Portland because my dad has been going here for years. First off, parking is horrendous — if you can find parking in any of the adjacent lots and walk over, it’s better than trying to navigate in what little space you have/compete with the other diners for the six or so spaces in that tiny lot. I love the interior/ambience. The lighting is dim — but not so much that you need a flashlight to read the menu — just right. The chairs are the comfy kind — that invite you to sit back and relax if you need to. Seating was a bit tight — we were literally seating in a awkwardly placed table that was practically in the middle of the walkway — with the bar directly beside us. Hostess did offer us a table within the actual sit-down area, but the wait would have been much longer. I had the Beef Stroganoff(seasonal) which was very flavorful and hearty. The cuts of tender meat was perfectly seasoned, juicy and bursting with flavor with each bite. The gravy had a nice touch of sour cream without being too overwhelming. Service was prompt(although that could be in part because our table was like right alongside the main walkway) — our drinks were refilled without the need to ask. Ambience was more of a sit down restaurant than sports bar. Didn’t have room for dessert — will probably come back the next time I’m in the area.

Great service, great food, great atmosphere, perfect. I highly recommend their salmon sandwich; ’tis amazing Go with the fries not the soup side with it. The soup cup size is mediocre.
