DePaul University was forced to close this campus due to the lack of students and an additional $ 39 million needed to upgrade the campus after DePaul spent 6 million to buy the school and over 8 million in repairs to bring to safety codes and renovate the campus to have modern amenities. The school couldn’t afford the additional 39 million as it was needed for its 2 main campuses. Fortunately, the Barat College campus will still be used for educational purposes as and anonymous donor donated the land to Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart, reunifying the 2 campuses, the anonymous person who donated the Barat property, said the now derelict Old Main had to be razed in order for the donation to go through. All the former Barat College property is now united as the campus of Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart.
