Hyatt Regency Maui Resort And Spa

I absolutely love this hotel! The room is pretty standard but the view of the ocean and the hotel’s pool/​waterfalls make up for it! Their restaurants (son’z and jepengo) are excellent– son’z has an amazing view of the pool with waterfalls and flamingos and the food was good and fairly priced. Jepengo has excellent food and live music and the view of the ocean! The service at this hotel is really good too. I highly recommend this place for families with young and older kids!

Definitely not worth the money!!! I just stayed there for a week and kept thinking Under Cover Boss needs to come here, (they need the guy from Diamond Resorts, he would tear this place apart!!!)
The pool area was nice, but that’s where the positives end. We had a free buffet breakfast for each day, but only went a couple of times. The food is nasty to say the least, McDonald’s is 100 times better. The eggs are watery, the syrup has been watered down so much it no longer has flavor, the fruit selection is lacking, the pancakes have been cooked hours prior and left to sit, the food overall would be better compared to a really bad hospital cafeteria than a resort. We ate at the other restaurants and they’re expensive and the quality was about the same, TERRIBLE.
They also selling timeshares at their resort next door. Walking around was more like walking around a USED CAR LOT than a resort!!!
People kept hounding us to listen to a presentation and would not take NO! for an answer. They kept promising free desserts, free excursions, free this and free that. They did give us a coupon for a free desert, but it wasn’t quite free. You had to go to Lahina (not in walking distance) buy two adult meals with beverages and could turn in the coupon for a free root beer float, OH HOW EXCITING! I guess the fees they charge aren’t enough, they need to apply pressure to squeeze more money out of you.
The rooms need to be updated, they’re 30 yrs old and it really shows. The fan in our room rattled and kept us awake at night. The door to outside was really hard to open and it’s age shows. We had two refrigerators in our room, but only one worked, I guess it’s easier to add one than to remove the broken one!
On their website it indicates there’s construction from 9am-​6pm. We were woken up at 6:00am by the sound of equipment beeping!!! Not sure who thinks this is a good idea to start working at a resort at 6:00am.
The staff weren’t rude, but were far from helpful. They would seem to answer our questions, but only what was directly asked and would never volunteer any information. It was as if they didn’t want to talk and would say just enough to get rid of you.

Beautiful location with wonderful views, pools, beach and nightly lighting of the torches and blowing of the conch shells. The staff is absolutely amazing! On the spot with the slightest of need.
We are very much looking forward to our next visit to this beautiful island!

We had a chance to stay here for a week. It is not bad. They do need some upgrades in their rooms. The bathtub is old, carpet is old and etc.
Services were OK. Some staff was rude which I mentioned in the Luau review.

Loved everything about this hotel!!! We stayed in the «Partial Ocean View Double». Although the room was on the smaller side, it was functional and had a contemporary vibe. Room came equipped with mini fridge, lush robes, private balcony. Free wifi on entire property. The location of the resort was perfect! Close to the beach, shopping, Front Street and etc! The building and common areas are well kept up with an exquisite ambience. The Hyatt had animals on site for display (penguins and parrots). Shopping available on property (gift shops, Macy’s). They also offered various activities/​amenities to guest patrons. Wildlife feedings, lei making, fitness classes, 24 gym, basketball/​golf/​tennis courts, etc. Huge pool area with slides/​waterfalls, a cave to hideout from the sun, and hidden bar (Grotto Bar). Take a little walk and you have direct access to Ka’Anapali Beach. A variety of food options/​restaurants available with-​in resort. We ordered food poolside from Umalu and the quality was exceptional. We also did HH at Japengo and the food was delicious. Lastly, they offered a breakfast buffet at the Swan Court. In my opinion it was overpriced ($ 29 per person) for the lack of options they offered. However, the food quality was outstanding. My personal highlight of the Hyatt is that they had the famous Ululanis Hawaiian Shaved Ice on site! So convenient and so divine! All the staff that I encountered during my stay was very friendly and helpful. Only con I have about the Hyatt is that everything is expensive. But like the good ol saying… «you get what you pay for». You can tell and feel that the service and quality here is top notch.

Enjoyed this hotel. Beautiful views and scenery. Stayed in the Nipali building in a Lahaina suite. The suite is two rooms: bedroom and living room with one bathroom. Each room has a balcony but only one balcony is big enough for chairs/​sitting.
The pool area is great with lots of variety and there are plenty of outdoor shower spots to rinse off sand from the beach.
Regency Club has nice options for breakfast: one hot option with the rest more of continental spread: pastries, fruit, cereal. There are appetizers in the evening but cocktails have a fee. As a Diamond member, I was granted a 2pm checkout instead of 11am.

The hotel is very modern and the rooms are very spacious, hight quality hotel. Breakfast was great. Beware, they charge you for everything parking, resort fee, lounger, etc.
It was not clear that you should pay for your lounger, there were no signs. A guy from the pool asked us (with bad manners) to live the lounger in the middle of our lunch, Awkward moment.

If you have ever visited ka’anapali you’ve likely seen the amazing pool, beautiful grounds, and stunning ocean views at this Hyatt Regency.
Once you’re in the hotel, though, on any floor you immediately notice this is a 30+ year old hotel that has not been maintained. The hallways are dated and poorly lit with 70’s lighting and awful fixtures — complete with popcorn ceilings! The rooms are small and very dated with very little storage and a closet that’s truly a coat closet. The sliders in our suite were single pane and let the noise of the luau in (even from our 9^th floor room) until 8:45PM keeping our 1 year old up as she cried for 20 – 30 minutes each night wanting to go to bed. Once the luau ended she would fall asleep immediately.
Bathroom was redone which was nice to see (No storage though). Everything was very clean and nicely maintained just extremely old. I was amazed and thankful to see our suite had two flat panel TVs.
The pool is extremely packed so if you like sprawling grounds this isn’t for you. Two days we rented a cabana next door at the Hyatt Residence Club. Amazing and fun pod like cabanas kept us playing and relaxing all day.
We dined at the Regency Club since we are Diamond. Breakfast was below average. Only protein was watered down eggs. Pastries were ok. Evening appetizers were good but not great. Average I would say for a regency club. Dessert was good. Regency Club service was truly fantastic. The team there was incredibly friendly and hospitable. Didn’t eat at Japengo or the other restaurants on site. Pool menu was comprehensive and reasonably priced.
Things that dropped this from three stars to two stars are little things like the fact everyone complains on here about the noise of the luau and the hotel hasn’t either changed the format of the event to be less drums focused or installed quadruple pane windows. Also our first two nights we didn’t receive turndown despite that fact we asked about it at check in and when we told housekeeping we initially were told «oh I don’t know why you didn’t get it» only to not get it again the next night. Thirdly the pool generally lacks beach access and a large stretch of what was direct access is closed. The cabanas are all behind a large hedge making them useless in my mind.
Overall I can’t say we would be back unless we get a killer rate, could use our diamond suite upgrade and then insist we are not in the terrible Lahaina tower adjacent to the luau.

My husband and I stayed here May 21^st-​May 25^th. I have stayed at many Hyatt properties over the years, with the Park Hyatt in Milan being my diamond standard for comparison and this property was nice.
The property is lovely overall and in an excellant location. You are a short 5 minute walk from Black Rock where you can dive and about a 5 minutes drive front tons of good restaurants.
My biggest complain with this property is the lack of renovations. The rooms look like they haven’t been updated since the late 1990s, with gross carpeting and old wood furniture. Its definitely time to upgrade the beds which are really lumpy and everything smells old. This hotel has great potential and my husband and I would love to come back and stay with them if they ever renovate!
Its super quiet and the staff is friendly and helpful. There are shops around the property and lots of actives. The pool is also really nice! We watched the sunset from our balcony several evenings and woke up to beautiful clear water every morning.

The new wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon from 5÷16÷2016 — 5÷23÷2016. We had done our research, read reviews, looked at pictures, and even knew people who had stayed here so we figured it was a sure bet.
I remember pulling up to the front and telling my wife that I thought it looked old. Not run down, but not new either. As soon as we walked into the lobby I knew I was wrong. We were greeted promptly and were helped with our bags immediately. Our room was very nice, a partial ocean view, which had exactly that. Looking directly out the window gave you a view of the land, but if you actually went out on the balcony a d simply looked left, the ocean was right there.
Comfortable bed and couch, flatscreen tv, etc. mini fridge to store water and drinks, but no microwave to reheat those leftovers. Not a big deal.
I really have no complaints about this place. The pool is wonderful and right across from the beach, but be sure to get out there early to secure a chair or two. There’s a hidden water slide (it’s short but fast, don’t wear your sunglasses on it, I lost mine).
We were basically out by the pool and beach everyday and it was perfect. There’s too much to tell, so just look at my pictures and know that if you are thinking of staying here, you are making the right choice. We would love to come back again within the next year!

Expensive for the aged condition. Not much beach. Everything needs maintenance. Design is great but they let it run down. Lots of pressure from sales people everywhere to buy their time share. 90K + 2400/​year for 1 week, 2 bedroom 2 bath. Everything except room service is an extra charge. Not even microwave in the room for 400/​day they need you to purchase every meal in their restaurant. If you have kids to bring you will like kids stay and eat free. If you need peaceful don’t bother. Kids running free around the restaurant swinging on our umbrella making faces at us while their parents are unconcerned. 100 kids running screaming around the pool all day until 10pm, running into you if you try to swim. I think 100 $/​day is it’s true value.

We had our honeymoon here and everything was wonderful. I’m extremely allergic to shellfish and had a reaction on our first night. The hotel and staff went out of their way to make sure I was okay. The manager of the restaurant by the pool called me every day to see how I was doing, he genuinely cared.
The hotel is gorgeous and our room was a partial ocean view and was pretty much a full ocean view (couple trees in the way). The luau is the best in town and the food was delicious. I can’t wait to go back. You won’t be disappointed.

I am a Hyatt guy and this is a good hotel to stay at Ka’anapali beach. We enjoyed the beach, pool, food, luau (Drums of the Pacific Luau), and the bird /​orchid garden in the hotel lobby. Service was also superb. The only negatives for the hotel are that our room is slightly older w/​outdated furniture and the bathroom/​shower is a bit small for our liking. A must-​do here is reserve one of the cabanas by the beach ($ 75 for the whole day) and chill there for a good portion of your day — you won’t regret it.

Very nice resort, you can really enjoy even the whole day swimming at the pool or at the beach, restaurants and the bars, shopping (even Macy’d in there) are awesome. Always something to do you’ll never get bored in Maui special @ Hyatt Regency resort and spa

* Price: not cheap but not outrageous for Maui. $ 250 to $ 450 depends on room types. They have 10+ different classes (king, double, resort view, golf course view, partial ocean, ocean view, ocean front, deluxe ocean etc.) 3+ star
* Accommodation: several pools with water slide, swim –in bar, water falls, 24 hour gym, coffee maker in your room, fridge, free WiFi, big flat screen TV. You can also use the pools at the timeshare next doors. Several restaurants and shops on site. 4 star.
* location: Ka’anapali beach! My favorite beach in Maui! Great location. 15 min walk to the Whaler Village shopping mall. 10 min drive to Lahaina! You can see Lanai island from your lanai. 5 star.
* Motif: beautiful, recently remodeled lobby with chandelier! Nice grounds with water falls run through the resort. Swan lake, penguins etc. The guest rooms are clean but old. Definitely needs a facelift. 4 + for ground works. 3 star for room décor.
* Service: hit and miss! The valet and bell desk is nice and friendly. Front desk is meh! House keeping is hit and miss. Our house keeping, Clarita is awesome, pays attention to details and friendly but her replacement is mediocre! We also encountered unfriendly staff at Honolulu coffee company at Hyatt! 3 star.

I am a big fan of Hyatt brand! Therefore, I always try to stay at Hyatt when traveling. We have stayed at Hyatt Ka’anapali a half dozen times. We love Ka’anapali beach and Lahaina.
There are not much changes since the last time we stay here except their timeshare has been completed! as some other reviews mentioned, the timeshare guests have gotten more attention and care. The resort side was somewhat neglected! They have a huge sign in the hallway to advertise their timeshare, huge seating area and show room. Every morning, timeshare owners having breakfast in the lanai of the show room on the resort side!
The guest’s room is tired and old but clean. The ocean view is breath taking and worth every penny! The bed is quite comfy.
We ordered food from Umalu a few time which is pretty good but expensive. They open until midnight so it is convenience!
Pros:
Nice beach (we see many turtles and fish of the beach, nice snorkeling spot)
Nice view of Lanai island and best place to watch sunset.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and love this beach… Hopefully they can make some improvement in the future! One improvement from our last stay is that they no longer make you have the beach towel cards. Thumb up!

So the bad: there were bed bugs when we got to our hotel room!
The good: the staff was amazing! They came in within 10 minutes to fix the situation. Also, everyone there was so friendly. Every time I left my hotel room, I was greeted with a hello and a smile.

A beautiful Resort to visit, but I would not stay there again, especially at the prices they want and the quality of rooms. Keep in mind it’s a 30 years old resort and it’s showing. The beach has almost completely worn away due to erosion so everyone is at the pool and it’s crowded, get up early if you want a lounge chair… The rooms are very tired and old! They are in desperate need of a renovation; the mattresses are lumpy and uncomfortable, I could feel the springs in my back.
The first room I checked into smelled disgusting, turns out it was a mildewy shower curtain that housekeeping neglected to change. They couldn’t find a replacement curtain anywhere and just removed it after making me wait over an hour. I was therefore unable to take a shower my first night there and then until after 3 pm the next day when they finally had another room cleaned to moved me. This spoiled two of my three day stay at the hotel.
Far too many screaming kids and noise by the pool area, mens locker room had lots of black mold in the shower and was dirty.
A poor Show for the Hyatt Brand, seems they’re too preoccupied with selling their timeshares next door and not attending to the aging hotel. Distressed, not impressed!
I suggest staying in one of the Wailea area resorts where it’s far less crowded and built up.

Stayed here for the weekend with my boyfriend and the place was okay in my book. The hotel is beautiful and its nice that it is right on the beach. I also loved the tropical birds and penguins that are in their lobby.
However, the walls of the rooms are paper thin. I could hear people walk and talk in the hallway and people walking on the floor above us was easily heard.
Late at night, maybe 11pm, there must’ve been a toddler that was staying in the room above us because the kid was running around the whole room and we could hear every step. Another night, the same running around woke me up from my sleep. For a toddler who is light weight and to be making that much noise with its footsteps makes me question the foundation of the hotel because the quality is not there. They really need to invest in sound-​bearing material in their walls and floors.
Also, upon check out the front desk girl was not so friendly. She showed us a print out of the charges and fees that were applied to our room. It looked good to us so we confirmed the charges. She then gave us a different looking print out saying that everything is set. We walked away and looked to see that it was a different room number’s charges that was given to us. My boyfriend went back to the girl to have it corrected and he said the girl was giving him an attitude and rolled her eyes at him the whole time. Our experience with the loud noises from other rooms and the bad service ensures us that we won’t be coming back here again.

It was our first time to Maui and we were so glad we chose to stay at the Hyatt. Even though the address says Lahaina, the hotel is really located in Kaanapali. It’s the last southern hotel on the strip of other big name hotels. It’s a beautiful and huge resort located right on the beach. There are ocean and mountain view rooms which both offer a beautiful view.
POOLS & RECREATION– The hotel has two huge pools with a grotto (and a grotto bar). One pool is more for lounging with a waterfall and basketball hoop, while the other side offers slides and shallower water for children. The grotto divides the two slides. The pools are steps away from the beach and offers a panoramic view of the ocean. There is a poolside shop where they provide towels and sells floaties, sunblock, sunglasses, and other goods. There’s also an outdoor activities shop near the fitness center and spa where they offer stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, etc. The fitness center is very clean and has a variety of cardio equipment and weights. They even offer a schedule of fitness classes everyday (included with resort fee).
FOOD & SHOPS — There are a number of restaurants on the hotel grounds from fancier ones like the Son’z Steakhouse (which is Swan Court for breakfast in the daytime) and Japengo (for sushi and happy hour), or more casual dining like Umalu (poolside and bar food). The hotel has it all offering coffee shops, general store, and other shops (even a Macy’s) inside the hotel which makes it super convenient.
RESIDENCE CLUB PRESENTATIONS — Upon arriving, you’ll immediately pass by many «residence club» tables with signs that read «Free Luau? Free Rounds of Golf? Free Sunset Sail? Ask us How!» These are essentially time share presentations where you get these free gifts/​incentives in return for 60 – 90 minutes of your time while they try to sell you property at the Hyatt Residence Club next door. If you have time to spare, it is a good deal in return for the incentives.
LUAU — The Drums of the Pacific Luau was located right on the hotel grounds. The show was entertaining and the buffet offered a variety of local Hawaiian favorites. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a luau so even though it’s expensive (~$ 100/​person), I say it’s worth the experience of a show and dinner.
The rooms are a good size, clean, and the beds are very comfortable. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in Kaanapali where it’s walking distance to all the other hotels and Whalers Village. It is also a 5 to 10 minute drive to Lahaina, where there is a lot to do with many shops and restaurants. Our stay here made our first Maui trip very comfortable and enjoyable!

This was a beautiful resort and a great place to base out of for a week in Maui. This was my first time planning a vacation as my husband is normally our travel planner. Thank you for being a good hotel so that I looked good in my planning.
We arrived late at night and immediately felt the easier pace of life on the island. The music, the friendly people, leis upon arrival, and the tropical vibe immediately greeted us.
The first night we were placed in a room that shouldn’t be a room. It was next to a set of elevators, on the first floor just off the lobby, and nestled between construction and the front circle where all traffic passes. Due to work conflicts we booked less than three weeks before arrival so we were spending a lot of money for this stay and I was worried. Thank goodness the next morning we were moved up to the fifth floor into an awesome room and we had a great stay. The front desk staff had no issue in getting us moved.
The room we stayed in for most of the visit was great. It was towards the end of the hall on the fifth floor so it was quiet. We were on a high enough floor that we were able to leave the sliding doors open. We still talk about how awesome it was to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the ocean crashing outside. The room was clean with a comfortable King size bed, seating area, and a large bathroom. The room also included my most important item, a coffee maker.
The property is gorgeous. The lobby has penguins in a pond and is open to create an indoor/​outdoor feel. Even the morning breakfast areas offers large windows to view the outdoors. The pools and landscape are meticulously maintained. One of the pools and bars is even inside of a large grotto. Pools are surrounded by loads of chairs and spots to get a cold drink while you relax.
The gym and spa are top notch. The gym was clean, well organized, and had everything we needed. The spa was a very relaxing experience. We were able to arrange massages in a cabana on the beach. It was the most relaxing massage I’ve ever had. Afterwards we were able to rest in the relaxation room which had surreal views of the ocean. We were also given delicious infused waters and plenty of Maui Gold pineapple.
On site there are several stores that sell clothing and bathing suits in case you forget something. The convenience store had everything we needed as far as fresh fruit, water, and some local goods. It wasn’t priced too high considering the convenience.
We really enjoyed the convenience of the activity center. We were able to book an awesome sea turtle snorkeling adventure through the office. It was an amazing excursion that wasn’t anything like the snorkeling you book through a cruise.
Before the end of the trip we were also able to book a shuttle to the airport. This saved us some money over taking a taxi. As I recall they also have a car rental company desk in the lobby for anyone looking for a day trip.
Each morning we looked forward to the buffet. Later we learned that most people were able to get this as part of their rate so I’d look for those deals at booking. We didn’t get it included, but found it to be worth paying for each morning. We loved all of the fresh fruit, omelets, pastries, POG, and friendly service.
The resort is about a 10 minute talk to Whalers Village for plenty of shopping and restaurants to entertain in between relaxation.
I’d definitely recommend this beautiful resort to anyone looking for a good place stay on a dream vacation to Maui. It’s always a dream vacation if you are in Maui. :)

Hach… ein kleines Stück Paradies ohne das Grundstück je verlassen zu müssen. Ich habe schon gut recherchiert bevor wir unseren Urlaub gebucht hatten und war damals schon restlos begeistert. Es ist eine große Hotelkette und dementsprechend groß ist auch der Resort, mit allem drum und dran. Schon wenn man anfährt, sieht man das große Gebäude, die Lichter und die großen Palmen die einen willkommen heißen. Beim check-​in Empfang kriegt man einen ‘Lei’ — eine heimische Tradition — um den Hals als Kette. Direkt nach dem Empfang wird man überrascht von der schönen Fauna, den kleinen Teichen wo große Fische und Pinguine (!) drin schwimmen und den Papageien die einfach rum-«Chillen»! Da weiss man wirklich das man im Paradies angekommen ist… Aber es endet nicht damit! Es gibt noch vieeeeeel mehr! Es gibt Japengos, Sonz Steakhouse, Honolulu Coffee, Grotto Bar, Ululanis Shave Ice zu essen und es gibt hier auch noch Shops wie Macy’s, ein Schmuckgeschäft und Lahaina Printsellers für lokale Kunst. Außerdem gibt es auch die Lu’au Show IM Hotel, sodass es einem schwer fällt hier wegzukommen.
Aber nein, es ist immer noch nicht zu Ende. Denn das Hotel besitzt 3 große Pools, die überhaupt nicht überfüllt waren, ist direkt am Strand, hat einen Activity Service und auch große, bequeme Standard Räume. Hier fühlt man sich wirklich wie ein König…oder in meinem Fall, wie eine Königin!
Es fiel mir wirklich schwer mich von diesem traumhaften Ort zu verabschieden. Ich war schon an vielen wundervollen Orten, aber nirgendwo fiel es mir wirklich so schwer wie hier ‘Good-​Bye’ zu sagen, aber ich bin mir sicher: wir kommen wieder!
