Excellent outside bar.
Good selection of average drinks. Good appetizers. Just want you to be looking for in the middle of the day. This isn’t the place you can find your dinner but it’s going to quench your midday hunger.
Nachos agree. Always bummed when they can substitute for vegetarians and still charge the previous price but that’s life. Thanks, quick and there’s also create you in the evening Black Cliff Dive Ceremony.

The location is great, but the service and facilities are horrible. Our room was falling apart literally where the outlet was coming out of the wall, the toilet was constantly running, and our lamps didn’t work. On top of it all, service was awful. I actually let the concierge know how rude the staff was and she still had the nerve to try to sell me on their timeshare. The Westin is worlds better and I never would’ve had these problems. The Sheraton did absolute nothing about my experience.

Upgraded to suite at a discount. Excellent idea. Spacious, everything updated. Made our week stay convenient. Staff are friendly. Very informative. Paradise. Pool is nice, beach is clean. End of Black Rock so kind of private from the walking crowds. Walk to Whaler’s Village. My toddler kept saying everyday that she wants to live here!

I never write a review for anything. I understand that people have bad days and good days and these reviews don’t always justify the establishments overall capabilities.
HOWEVER, after 22 years of staying in hotels, I have finally decided to write a review.
DO NOT stay at the Sheraton Maui. Nice property but HORRIBLE front service.
We checked into the hotel and was not even given the choice for an upgrade even though I am a LIFETIME gold member and used my AMEX Starwood card. Once given our room, it was covered with ants. We asked them to send up someone to kill the ants, but even his recommendation was that we switch rooms. We have a newborn baby with us and the spray may be toxic according to him and would have taken a few hours to clear the smell.
After over an hour of complaining they moved our room, but dont have the ocean view I paid for. Nor did the room come with the crib we requested. After calling and reminding them to send the crib, it had a used BAND AID on it — GROSS!!! Super disgusting and very unclean. We have already filed complaints with OSHA on this and will be writing a formal complaint to SPG headquarters and the Health Department in Hawaii about this.
The rest of the staff is very helpful and quite nice — they obviously try very hard but have their hands tied by the morons at the front desk and the managers of the hotel.
The rooms are WAY outdated and dilapidated — I cant understand how this is considered a 6 or 7 star hotel.
We know things in Hawaii are already overpriced, but willing to swallow it if the service and quality is good — NOT RECOMMENDED at this hotel. Food is poor quality (rooms service), rooms are boring and dull, bathrooms really need an upgrade
Spend a few extra bucks and stay someplace better. Quite honestly you can spend a LOT LESS at places and have much better service.
I don’t have a corporate account or company expense account. Every one of the 350+ hotel nights I have stayed in a Starwood property has been with my own hard earned money! I have no problems with Sheratons usually — even my last stay in Kauai Sheraton was much better! After all that time and money spent with SPG, you would think that they care about my business, but apparently not.
This is only my first night of 4 that I booked and am writing this review from the hotel. Really disappointed that I have to deal with this place for another 3 nights. Will try and request a refund or cancellation of my other nights, but don’t think that will be possible.
I know this review might not be so helpful to people that are looking for photos of the property and more detailed reviews to something that effects them. I am probably not super helpful in letting you know all about this. This is strictly a review to those that work hard for their SPG loyalty program and expect better treatment for the money spent on them.
Others seems to enjoy this property based on the reviews — even as I am looking out the window writing this, I see kids and families happy with the grounds and enjoying the island… this is strictly my opinion… but an opinion of someone who has stayed at so many hotels all around the world from the finest Four Seasons in Bali and Maldives to Motel 6’s and Super 8’s along a desolate interstate stretch
Time to switch to Hyatt loyalty program!

it’s been about 6 months since my visit to the Sheraton maui, but overall we really enjoyed our experience there. there were some definite pros and cons, but the price /​points value is really worth it and the hotel is a very nice quality. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely plan to return to this Sheraton if we come back to maui.
pros — the buffet breakfast is pretty stellar with tons of delicious food options. the rooms are clean, big, and have beautiful views of either the front grassy area or the ocean. in the 6^th building there is a private outdoor hot tub and the hotel made it really easy for us to switch into this room instead. there are plenty of restaurant options and the club lounge also serves breakfast and evening appetizers. the beach is extremely accessible and we also really liked all of the pools and hot tubs available near the outdoor bars and grills.
cons — the hotel has an interesting layout, so it can take some time to walk between buildings or the club lounge, including multiple elevator rides instead of a single set of stairs. we also noticed that the tiles are extremely slippery, so be very careful walking around.

We stayed at this resort 9÷26−10÷3. While we loved the location, the service leaves a little to be desired. Their restaurants need a lot of work.

I stayed here for one night and it was a good resort for family. I came with my wife and the ambience was more for a family then a couple. The staff were nice and the beach is beautiful. If you are a spg member I would recommend going to the Westin.

Views are terrific and employees are very nice & helpful, really liked the Starbucks bar that opened early

Mattress needs to be changed, they are very soft, I think their just old
My biggest concern was the quality of food relative to the cost.
Breakfast buffet $ 30 for adults was not a good deal. For that money I would have expected more than what was offered
Lunch: fish taco ($ 20) quality were poor quality
Burgers ($ 15) came with a bag of chips–
After the fist day, we stopped eating at the hotel
Whalers village is a 10 minute walk, food quality is so much better and better prices
Beach is tiny with a ledge between where you put you towel and the water
Parking is also problematic.

This is an absolutely gorgeous property on world famous Kaanapali Beach. Built into the side of the lava cliffs at Black Rock, the Sheraton has the best location on the entire Kaanapali Beach.
We are staying here for the third time for 7 nights and have the best room/​view we’ve ever had. The front desk staff is awesome and truly try their best to accommodate and even upgrade people’s rooms when possible. We were upgraded and given passes for the club lounge for the week simply by asking and being SPG preferred members. Our double lanai has a 180 degree view of the West Maui Mountains, the pool and garden resort area and the ocean and Lanai the island. Our lanai is virtually on top of the beach and we can watch and hear the waves break against the sand. And we can shut the doors and enjoy the a/​c when needed!
The Sheraton has the best torch lighting ceremony of all the resorts on Kaanapali by far. No contest. Every night at 5:30. I never get tired of it.
The food is very good at the resort and make sure to take time to enjoy the Cliff Dive Bar for live music and drinks nightly.
The pool is fabulous, albeit a bit on the chilly side. After a day in the Hawaiian sun, it seemed a welcome relief to me. Chaises fill quickly so be sure to be down at the pool by 8:30 for the best pick of chaises on pool days during your vacation.
Also, be prepared to do some walking from one end of the resort to the other. It’s all ADA compliant but the resort is spread out and requires 10 minutes of walking to get to the parking garage from most oceanfront rooms. Not a problem but people should know.
Resort rooms are a bit dated, but clean and neat. The views are fabulous from the rooms, and more than offsets the dating of the room furniture. Each room has small refrigerator which comes in handy if staying more than a day or two.
Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Maui.

The Hotel was beautiful and very clean. Staff was very friendly. I loved the breakfast buffet. Only thing I didn’t like was everything closes early.

Stayed here for a conference. Booked a room with a king bed seven months in advance. Upon check in I was informed that they are out of King rooms. They did not offer to find me a room that would work, just gave me a lukewarm apology and handed me the key to my room with two full beds… Not queens, fulls. Tiny. Beds. Bathrooms are really cramped and artwork is beyond tacky. They are a Starwood property and even though I am a Starwood preferred member, it didn’t help my room situation and only gives me a lame discount at restaurants. I was told at booking that my preferred status would give me breakfast included for each night of my stay. Not the case. For $ 350 a night this place doesn’t give two cents about their guests. Stay somewhere else.

We’ve stayed in beachfront condos in Wailea, the Hyatt at the other end of Kaanapali and the Sheraton.
I prefer Wailea (and actually Kauai) because I prefer a more quiet and laid back scene. My family however, prefers this Sheraton.
This is prime Kaanapali location. Black Rock is great for snorkeling. The kids got out and saw several turtles. Dad (me) braved jumping off of Black Rock a couple times. And there were lots of fish to be seen. We even saw whales passing by (just passed the catamarans that were anchored offshore. (Note: if you want to take a boat out to see whales, snorkle or do a sunset dinner cruise. The catamarans take off from the beach. And it’s a quick 5 min walk down the beach. We did one on the Teralanai and kids had a lot of fun. Try the snuba I enjoyed it. It’s actually easier than snorkeling.)
The beach and Black Rock snorkeling and diving make it a great alternative to the pool. If you go to the Hyatt, their beach front is very narrow. And depending on the tide. There may be only a few feet of semi-​dry beach.
Architecturally, the Hyatt wins hands down. It is a beautiful property. Functional and has nice restaurants and shops (Sheraton has one store on-​site. but Whalers is 5 min walk). The Hyatt’s spa is superior to the Sheratons. And if you’re a Sheraton traveler and enjoy the Club Lounge breakfasts and appetizers around dinner time. The Hyatt is far and above better in quality and quantity of food you get.
If I’m going with my wife, I’d stay at the Hyatt (or up at Kapalua or Wailea).
With the kids, the Sheraton is GREAT! We have kids aged 19, 14 and 12 and our suite was a nice 600 plus square feet with 2 showers. A nice view. Expect a little walking around as the grounds are a little more spread out. But, hey… that was my excuse for not having to go do yoga with my wife (she enjoyed her classes with instructor Geena Howard) or go workout at the gym (btw…the gym at the Hyatt is much larger and has a lot more equipment –if that’s you’re thing).
Again, for a family vacation. This place overall is better than the Hyatt because of the location… location…location.
ps…we didn’t have any problems with housekeeping. They were very thorough. Always very nice. And I even had an issue figuring out the a/​c. The maintenance guys were out promptly and showed me what I was doing wrong (and were very nice about it).

First time staying at the Sheraton in Maui; we will definitely be going back. Building 6 oceanfront rooms are amazing, quiet, and detached from the rest of the resort which provides a sense of isolation, plus building 6 guests get their own parking area (top of the rock) — gotta love that. However the walk from building 6 to the lobby, restaurants, pool, and the heart of the resort takes a 5 minutes and requires going up & down floors to get there (only negative, but it’s very minor). Staff was nice, accommodating, and very helpful. We usually stay at different establishments and this is by far the best we’ve experienced in Maui.
If you like snorkeling or swimming in the ocean then snorkeling at the Black Rock (the beach of the Shearaton) is a magnificent experience for all ages. Although the water is deep, it’s close to the shore and the black rock, plus the Sheraton provides (for a fee) some floating devices for those that aren’t comfortable with the water. The kids and I snorkeled in this area and saw so many different fish and snorkeled with 3 different sea turtles. An experience that we will never forget.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The views are gorgeous, especially from the lobby. Everyone who works there is very friendly. There is an Enterprise Rental Car in the hotel, which is convenient. The concierge was very helpful with booking daily activities that we wanted to do near by (surf lessons, snorkeling excursion). You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas for a daily fee at the hotel near the sand. They provide beach towels too (no charge).There is a nice gift shop.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and have a mini-​fridge. I would recommend getting breakfast items to keep in there instead of going to the overpriced breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant. Although dinner at the hotel was very good as well as lunch at the casual café. (The café is the perfect spot for a view, especially for the cliff diving ceremony at sunset)
There is a free hotel shuttle that will take you to Lahaina. I highly recommend using that to go the Old Lahaina Luau instead of the one at the hotel.
The one thing that I did not like was the spa. It was definitely sub par for a resort. No A/​C in half of the treatment rooms or lobby which is very uncomfortable when you have robes on. No locker room and no amenities.
I definitely recommend staying here, but you should walk to one of the other nearby resorts if you want to go to the spa.

This one is really hard for me. I’m torn because this is where my husband and I spent our honeymoon so I feel as though I have to love it. But this is also where we were harassed non-​stop by timeshare people from Sheraton.
Our first impression of this hotel was at the valet desk where we were flagged over and told we needed to ‘register’. We came over, gave all our information and the guy behind the desk said ‘Okay well you can go in to the front desk to check-​in’. WHY DID HE FLAG US OVER IF HE COULDN’T HELP US?
Then as we checked in and explained it was our honeymoon the desk clerk pressured my husband to spend even more money for an upgraded room. She kept telling my husband ‘the room you have is nice but if this is a really *special* occasion, you will want to upgrade’. We were wildly offended! We paid for an ocean front room but because we didn’t get a suite she thought we should pay $ 300 more /​night.
Within a few hours of being checked in we received a voicemail on our machine saying the front desk had a gift for us downstairs. Being naïve we thought it was champagne for our honeymoon. No, it was an opportunity to buy a timeshare :(boo! We were kind but firm and said it was our honeymoon and we’d appreciate not being bothered again. We received 3 more voicemails during our stay and felt we had to physically dodge the timeshare people whenever we walked through the lobby.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE: Our view was beautiful. The room was a little small but we spent 90% of our time exploring the island so we didn’t mind. They pool area was very nice and we enjoyed the bar. It was also really cool to watch the cliff diver each night. The property is beautiful, we only wish it was better managed.
One more weird thing, they gave us a card to redeem champagne delivery to our room. We called the service and it took over an hour to get our split of champagne. It was so cheap and gross my husband and I poured it down the drain.

Another great stay at Kaanapali. We love this beach!!! this time we stayed at the Sheraton which was several steps up from our regular resort. I never dreamed we could someday afford a stay here but then they offered us an upgrade to a better room that was amazing. We stayed right along side the black rock and the tree outside and rock wall was great bird watching. I think our room being on the end. I bet it was smaller than regular because it was very small and didn’t have a dresser. But the location and view were worth it. We were just steps away from elevator near the poor and beach. the 8^th floor offered an amazing view. love snorkeling here and walked to whaler for lunch and diner several times. The pools were great.
all the Hawaiian resorts charge daily resort fee. around 35 a day. plus 25 for parking. everything is expensive in Hawaii be prepared and just enjoy.
negatives. they didn’t clean as well as we’d have liked. possibley didn’t vaccum every day. Ourside our door. the hall by the rock wall. went days untouched till we asked them to sweep. In the evenings strong pot smell of kids smoking by the wire fence at the beach every night. The ocean was rougher this stay so snorkeling not as good but nothing anyone can do about that. My two biggest issues is for rewards customers I’d have expected them to do something for us. like daily bottles of water. No robes so would have be nice if the towels had been larger and softer. But this are all little things. we were happy here and loved our stay.

I am so grateful for this wonderful experience. The second we walked into this hotel we were greeting with the most respect and the most friendly people.
In total we spent seven days on this remarkable island and experienced almost everything.
The Sheraton Resort and Spa has everything you would ever need. The best thing that was very convenient was the access from the pool to Kaapalani Beach! If we wanted to switch from beach to pool or pool to beach we could do so in a quick walk across the sand!
During our stay the resort offers all the outdoor activities including snorkeling right on Black Rock. Make sure to keep a look out for sea turtles! They’re everywhere! From pair-​sailing to snorkel tours the resort offers them all. Yes, they might be a bit pricey but it’s worth it!
We were able to dine at the breakfast buffet every morning. This buffet offers a home made omelet station along with fresh fruit and waffles! Teppan-​Yaki Dan was the closest thing to Benihana that I have tasted! Our chef was great and it was delicious food!!!
Make sure to check out the Cliff Dive Bar for some delicious Black Rock Mai Tais!!!
Overall, our experience was wonderful and we will definitely be back!!!

Lovely hotel! We got upgraded to an ocean view room thanks to my SPG Gold status and we had the perfect sunset view from our patio. We enjoyed many days of sunset viewing out on the patio, as well as breakfast room service with the beautiful ocean view.
The part of the resort we were in is some distance away from where the pools are, so its about 5−10min walk away. We have our own parking lot and hot tub (it wasnt working when we were there) so you’ll have to walk over to the main area to use the hot tub there. The rooms are fairly clean and large enough for 2 people.
The resort is located close to whalers village which is a nice walk on the beach away. The pool in the main building area is pretty nice with a lazy river so you can chill and watch the cliff dive ceremony (kinda underwhelming). The wifi in room is pretty decent for surfing without having to pay for premium internet, but if you’re trying to stream a video, it might take longer to buffer.
Great location, slightly pricey, but can be affordable if you stack discounts from AAA and credit cards.

Spectacular hotel right on Black Rock. I have read a lot of mixed reviews about this resort, but I thought this place was amazing. Yes, it is an older hotel but they have been slowly renovating. The views are breathtaking and I loved all the jumpers off black rock during the day. Oddly enough, black rock is a great area to snorkel. This can get crowded on the weekends, so just keep that in mind. Luau’s are offered most nights and they always offer great music around the property.
I stayed here 7 nights with my family and we loved every second of it. The location of the resort is perfect, our hotel room had an ocean view and they have a great pool. Whaler’s Village is just up the boardwalk with shopping and multiple restaurants, on place you can even sit n the sand! (Hula Grill)
All in all, if you’re debating to stay here, i definitely would! Great atmosphere just outside of Lahaina.

Yes it’s pricey, but totally worth it. Service was stellar from start to finish. Every staff member we met was friendly and went out of their way to cater to us. We started by getting a free upgrade to an oceanfront deluxe room for our honeymoon and a free champagne toast sent to our room by Gabe (awesome staff member!) at the front desk. Our room was atop Black Rock and we watched whales, dolphins, and sea turtles below us off our deck daily followed by sunsets over Molokai every night. Amazing!
The resort is large but easy to navigate by numerous clear signage. Even though we were on the quiet far end of the resort, the beach and pool were a quick elevator ride away. The pool area is top notch and the grounds were kept perfectly maintained. There’s 2 pool bars/​grills where you can grab drinks and light meals while enjoying the spectacular views. There’s numerous happy hours, morning, afternoon and night where you can get great drink specials. They also offer a refillable mug that you can use throughout your stay for discount drinks.
The beach in front of the hotel offers great snorkeling off Black Rock. it’s more crowded on weekends but we spent most weekday mornings with plenty of room to explore and swim with the sea turtles. If you listened closely you could even hear the whales singing while you were underwater!
The location on Kaanapali offers easy access to the boardwalk that connects you to the other resorts and Whalers village. This is a great option. To connect to other dining and shopping areas. There’s an ABC store nearby which is a great option to get cheap groceries/​alcohol to save some cash. Our room has a fridge and microwave so it was a great option for meals on our balcony. The resort offers free shuttle services to Lahaina as well so you can actually go several days without having to drive.
