Aston Mahana at Kaanapali

We stayed at The Aston Mahana for eight nights and enjoyed every moment. Our room was beachfront and the ocean views were spectacular.
The unit in well appointed and in good condition. Everything worked well and the housekeeping staff is top notch. The front desk people are as good as it gets and the grounds are beautifully manicured, lush and immaculate. The lighting in the sidewalk areas could be much better — this was obviously built more for cars than pedestrians.
The pool, hot tub and the beach areas are excellent. Nothing elaborate but perfect for the needs of the Mahana. Enjoy your stay. Maui is a treasure and this place serves it well.

Having the kitchen was really nice! We had an ocean front studio and was much bigger than I expected. Nothing super fancy but the view from the room was amazing.

Posting four days into seven to start …
Called ahead to ask for something special as this is our wedding/​honeymoon trip. A bit concerned as nothing could be guaranteed and I’d seen some unpopular reviews.
Arrived to check in and felt the need to ask again — but I should not have worried! Amazing condo (907) all windows and mirrors, suitable kitchen, amazing water pressure in shower (silly but so important). Housekeeping staff lovely to work with and so thoughtful so far. We love the quietness that we haven’t found elsewhere and that makes the pool area so much more enjoyable as we hear the noise from the crazy busy hotels close by and thank heaven that we aren’t fighting for our pool chairs! We’ve met people that return yearly — for five, ten and twenty years! Speaks volumes about this place! Stay tuned… Tomorrow is our wedding day and we’ve got lots of activities to Unilocal about!!!

Love! Highly recommend ocean view. We slept next to the sound of ocean waves and sunsets. It was heavenly. We were on the second floor and would have preferred having a room higher up. Really, no complaints.

This property is beautiful and every condo has floor to ceiling windows that are right on the ocean. You can’t get a better view! The pool and grounds are beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We love this place so much that this is our 5^th stay. Rent a Premium condo because they have been remodeled and request one on the upper floors, there are 12 floors, for the best views. Each condo is individually owned so each one is decorated and outfitted differently. Ask for a condo that is «decked» out to get one with a kitchen that is stocked with every cooking implement you may need.

Great place to stay! Loved the location and being able to go to the grocery store right accross the street (a nice short walk) to get food for the nice kitchen! I was impressed it had a dishwasher and a washer dryer! Great for families due to the large room sizes. We had a 1 bedroom and it was great! Beach view outside the room was amazing everyday! We saw huge full size rainbows in the back and front of the hotel almost every day! The only thing is it may be hard to find because you have a small sign and have to drive back a little, but once you find it, its a beautiful place to be!

We loved this place! Hotels in Hawaii always tend to be disappointing for some reason, usually they are much more weathered than their photos show but at the Aston mahana, that was also slightly true but the benefits far out weighed the cons…

–every unit has a sea view (really every unit)
–super friendly staff
–nice pool area, not too busy
–rooms are super comfortable and functional
–parking isn’t stressful
–good location
–beach is just right there and walking up and down is super convenient
–AMAZING sunsets are yours everyday! Right from your room or on the beach!
–great wifi
What cons are there? Hard to say…
–room safes are a bit antiquated, use keys instead of codes
–some construction going on, mildly annoying
–deck chairs have little ants on them, but hey what can you do
We met a nice couple also on their honeymoon in the hot tub our last night, it was just us down there in the evening, I like that kind of intimate setting (versus teenagers and kids running amok killing the vibe). If you don’t have kids this probably is a good place, maybe not so much if you do have kids (didn’t see a whole lot of families here)

For our needs Mahana was perfect. We were in Maui for a week for our sons high school football game and instead of staying at the Sheraton with the team we decided to stay at the Mahana for some mom and dad time. The Mahana was very clean and well maintained, our room was beautiful we were in 412 and booked with Sue on Vrbo. I cannot say enough good things about the room it was wonderful. The Mahana views were amazing it was awesome to enjoy dinner on the balcony and watch sea turtles
Frolicking in the waves below and the sunsets were so beautiful. The beach was gorgeous but has hard sharp rocks so you couldn’t enter to swim from Mahana you had to walk down a ways, also the Mahana pool was pretty boring, very quiet and not a lot to do but other than that we had a blast.

My wife and I have stayed in condos and hotels in the past
The Mahana has by far the most beautiful view
Unit 614 was simply put «fantastic «
The staff was wonderful and the daily maid service left our room spotless
The food at the pool area was ok. We ate burgers and the food was acceptable.
We understood it was just something to eat while we enjoyed the beach and pool area
When we wanted to «dine» we would go to whalers village or Lahaina
The «Sloppy Cakes» just a short walk away was great for breakfast
We will be back to the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali in the near future

7 days was not long enough in paradise

Just visited for 5 days and had a great time and stay at Mahana! It was our first time to the island and we couldn’t have asked for a better room or experience. The customer service was great and the location can’t be beat. We were on the 11^th floor literally like 40 yards from the ocean. They were doing some construction and had notices posted around the facility so I was concerned about noise but it was never an issue.
Great spot, again, my first time here so I have nothing to compare it to. However, if another place topped this in terms of cost, location and service I would be even greatly impressed. Would return and recommend to anyone.

I love this place and would absolutely stay here again my next trip to Maui. The condos are spacious, clean and modern. All have a lanai overlooking the beautiful clear Hawaiian waters and the sunset — no matter what floor you are on, you will have an amazing view. It comes with a fully stocked kitchen so you can cook your own meals if you choose. The staff is super helpful and friendly — they will be as accommodating as possible.
The amenities are very nice — on site Barbeque, pool and hot tub, lawn chairs overlooking the ocean. The beach in front of the hotel itself is not very sandy if you want to go in the water, so bring water shoes and watch out for urchins. You will frequently see sea turtles swimming around and right in front of the hotel is actually a pretty decent snorkel spot. Also, keep an eye out for breaching whales, especially if you are on a higher floor.
The ONLY reason I docked one star is that the housekeeping is pitiful. One of the best parts of staying at a hotel is coming home from your daily activities to a clean room, made bed and fresh towels (and you are paying $ 20 a day here to enjoy this service), but this was rarely the case. I’d be gone for most of the morning and afternoon to return late afternoon and have them come eventually while I was there, so it is awkward trying to stay out of their way. I had to call on 3 separate occasions to request a room clean, and one day they didn’t come at all. And, after they came and cleaned the room one day, an empty toilet paper roll was left on the dispenser. What?! Other than this though, I truly enjoyed stay here.

No-​Way would I ever stay there again.
Paying for a 2 bedroom suite with a breathtaking view (room 401), you would expect the air to work better than 79 – 82 which was the average room temperature and nothing could be done about it.
The room also needed some minor repairs.
